It was accidental ^^ I was telling someone about the cult and made the ping before I realized I was doing it and yep i apologize for that one too! I am really sorry for my mistake and crowding the cult >.< It won't happen again.
I like the separate CW ping. I don't mind the pings either way, but it's nice to know going in what it'll be for more specifically. :)

I know :/ but I just did it again when I updated the CW board facepalm I should read ALL pings before posting! I thought it was for the class ping. Thank you for making a new group for CW though! It helps a lot! :D
Good morning, everyone. Today, we'd like to announce a new feature: Clubs/Extracurricular Activies! Slowly, we will be introducing new clubs and extracurricular activities to the cult. Later on today or sometime tomorrow, we are hoping to introduce the first two: Quidditch Club and Book Club. Please note that no club will be a place to earn any extra points for your house. They will be places for you or your character to indulge in some of your favorite wizarding past times.
The way the clubs work will mainly depend on what type of club it is. For instance, the Quidditch Club will primarily be a roleplaying club, as there is so much more potential out of roleplaying Quidditch or having your character enthuse about their favorite Quidditch teams than it would for our muggle selves to talk about how much we wish we could play Quidditch. Please note that the Quidditch Club is not to be confused with the Inter-House Quidditch Cup. The Quidditch Cup is still in the works and will be a separate entity from the Quidditch Club.
The Book Club, however, can go either way. My suggestion for how the Book Club would go would be for us to pick one book a term to read and discuss. This way it would give everyone time to read it. The part that would depend on the cult, however, is if you'd rather discuss the book in-character or just as an out of character chat.
Please note that a few rules have been added to THE RULES.
- Please do not create threads for clubs. Either the Admins or the Club Captain should be the only one to create a club thread.
- This rule is particularly for Club Captains: Please keep all club threads to the Common Rooms.
Since we are 2/3 of the way finished the first term, Club Captains will not be chosen until next term. This will give us a chance to really flesh out clubs before we hand the reins to someone else. Club Captains will be chosen at the beginning of each term to give everyone an opportunity to head their favorite club!
After seeing how these first two clubs go, we will be adding more and more. There will be no limit to how many clubs you join, so feel free to join each that suits your fancy.

I'm really excited for both of these clubs!
The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. It would be nice to reread it now that it's fall-time, since the movie was so autumn-centered.

Also, as far as book club goes, I'd be down for Prisoner of Azkaban, it's a good first choice but I hope we read non-HP books in the future since I've never participated in a book club before and I love the idea of discussion of books since I always want to talk about what I've read and usually only have my wife for this purpose.

I was wondering the same thing about the book club. I initially thought it would be non-HP books (where is my mind?), but I love re-reading the series, so I don't care either way.
I do think it could be problematic finding non-HP works that many people would agree on reading, though. I feel they would either need to be tied to a magical universe or, if not, be able to connect to the HP series in some way (even if we just compared/contrasted). And then there are many different genres within either of those fields that readers have preferences for. It might be tricky?

I think we could start with HP and then hopefully read other books as well. As far as not agreeing, we could take suggestions, narrow it down to the 2-4 most popular choices, and then take a vote. If you don't like the choice you don't have to participate in the group during that book. Democratic style!
