Body horror FREAKS me out. Epidemic especially. The HAs sometimes freaks me out so much I have to avoid the forums entirely. Last time was especially bad, I nearly stopped participating.

But I don't expect the event to stop. I DO however think that the could that offered is a great thing to consider to stop those creepy events.

?? That's not even an answer?

You don't have to sit us all down in a big group and spell out the fucking plot for us. You can however make a damn post saying there may be things in the upcoming event that may make people with issues with paranoia uncomfortable. 'Immersion' is not an excuse, you don't see people complaining about films or other games having 'immersion' issues just because they're required to have warnings of their contents on them.

The casual ableism on this site is disgusting, all ANYONE wanted or NEEDED was a warning that something potentially dangerous was coming up, it didn't have to ruin your precious surprise because god forbid you actually admit that you DELIBERATELY made paranoia and delusions the focus of a plot introduction without any warning.

Mental illnesses are not your play things.

I also have anxiety and I'm glad this was posted on tumblr and I saw it as I'm currently on like 2 hours sleep and it really would have freaked me out too. ( - thanks for the tumblr post!)

I'm really sorry this freaked you out, I can imagine how much of a shock it was :c I agree that a warning of some kind would have been nice, even if it was just a super obscure news post. Just something to get our minds like 'Hey a thing is happening!'.

I can understand this event was supposed to be a surprise and they can't cater to everyone's fears though. It's a difficult situation. Props to the lovely for providing the code to hide events. you might wanna read this thread as I think this might freak a few of you out as well :/

I don't in any way believe subeta staffers were INTENTIONALLY causing actually irl paranoia which is what a couple people seem to be implying. But everyone is going to be triggered by something, whether it's clowns or ghosts or monsters. We're playing on a site with very inventive and sometimes dark ideas, as we have seen from the zombies and organ harvesting, and heck, even using a girl as a sacrifice. With all that being said, we know it's just a game, and these innovative plot ideas are part of the reason why so many people stay on subeta. It's hard to make a site kosher when there are so many different things out there that might trigger someone. And making the site kosher would just make us another neo if we safed everything. I understand that things make us nervous and panicked. But we can't ruin everyone's fun by catering to every single user's personal needs. I think Sopheroo is being mature and smart for staying away from something that acts as a trigger for them. But the majority of the site is incredibly excited about the mystery of this whole thing and it's not fair to disappoint the masses for one or two people.

Yeah no, sorry, if you mentioned it on the forums, it should have been on the news as well.

You have deliberately kept the part of the userbase that do not visit the forums on a daily basis in the dark, and as far as communication goes, I thought this was what Subeta was trying to avoid? Trying to not have the userbase look at 12 different places.

I'm going to admit it's not as bad as the era where all of the important information was on Facebook, but things like that belong to the news page, the first page people see when they log in. That way, you have everyone immersed, not just the people on the forums.

Thanks you, bbkete <3. Glad that you could at least have a warning.

Not having a news post up now is absolutely on purpose. There isn&;t much else I can say,

It was possible to post it on the forums so why not on the news page as well? Idgi.

The REs deliberately play on paranoia, whether it's the casual everyday 'egh I'm walking home alone' paranoia or not doesn't matter. That is what those REs are targetting, there is no misinterpretation, they are designed to make you feel like you or your 'character' on site is seeing something or being followed.

This is not about 'triggers'. This is about casually dismissing mental disorders and not communicating with users, communication does not mean telling us what's going to happen, it does not mean spoilers, it means letting people know what might be involved, like all other games/films are LEGALLY OBLIGED to do, though not to the kind of extent that would actually be useful to people ¬_¬;

The majority can walk up stairs, so lets get rid of ramps. The majority can see, so lets get rid of braile. The majority don't need it, so lets get rid of all anti-depressants. Just because the majority don't have to deal with an illness doesn't mean the minority who do should need to suffer for their 'fun'.

Your 'fun' wouldn't have been spoiled by a warning any more than it was 'spoiled' by the hints that were dropped. Your damn 'fun' isn't worth more than a person's health and well being.

NO ONE would have lost out from a warning. Not at SINGLE PERSON would have been 'spoilt' by a new post warning that the plot may contain something problematic, it could have been done in character for all anyone cares. But because that would have taken effort people are going to suffer and already have. But who cares right? They're just a ND minority right? Only useful when they can acts as inspiration porn for the NTs.

Gotta say, all the people I know who have been shaken up and disturbed by these REs, are people who avoid the forums for the same reasons their mental health makes it hard for them. The people most at risk of these REs are also the ones least likely to be active on the forums, they're not going to see the post, they're not going to see this thread, they're just going to be part of the silent minority who 'mysteriously' vanish for a plot.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I'm actually so hyped for this. The 'horror' aspect - that Subeta has emphasized many times before - is incredibly appealing to me, despite not only a history of violent things happening to me but many consistent fears about being attacked again. It will be okay. I think I'm strange in this, but one of the ways I face my fear is to roleplay, write about, play video games about, and read about these situations. It's kind of therapy for me. I hope you feel better about this and can work something out about that may make you more comfortable.

I'm going to lock up this thread. I'm sorry that you were made anxious by these random events, and we're going to keep those kinds of reactions in mind going forward when we slowly release things like this. Of course we don't want any users to have these feelings, however I think that we try to push the boundaries (we had organ harvesting ;))

I recommend taking a look at the Community Guidelines. Accusing us of playing with our users and implying that we're doing it on purpose is not only wrong, it's hurtful to the people who work on these events. Also implying that we aren't within the guidelines of the law (we are) is wrong. We do not want to cause strife or pain to anyone, and obviously when a post like this is created we take it seriously and consider it going forward.
