If you'd like to hide events for the time being/ever, you can use this custom CSS:

I will just point out that you can only get the event once - after that you don't get it again.

We're letting people make posts right now on their own, and then we'll have some official announcements coming out soon. We're letting the hype train get started without us doing anything but flipping on a random event :)

We'd have to add toggles for anything that could be a trigger, it's just not possible.

Saying "something is going to happen, we're going to have a summer event" != hints.

Again, I'm sorry that it made some people uncomfortable. This is a game, and we decided this is how we wanted to start this event. Not having a news post up now is absolutely on purpose. There isn't much else I can say,

I'm going to lock up this thread. I'm sorry that you were made anxious by these random events, and we're going to keep those kinds of reactions in mind going forward when we slowly release things like this. Of course we don't want any users to have these feelings, however I think that we try to push the boundaries (we had organ harvesting ;))

I recommend taking a look at the Community Guidelines. Accusing us of playing with our users and implying that we're doing it on purpose is not only wrong, it's hurtful to the people who work on these events. Also implying that we aren't within the guidelines of the law (we are) is wrong. We do not want to cause strife or pain to anyone, and obviously when a post like this is created we take it seriously and consider it going forward.
