I hated today for this quest - only did two for Shinwa, and on those two I spent way more than I would have liked. Almost all of them wanted 200k+. I was lucky I could even do those two for Shinwa. Very lucky.
Course the books were often also the problem but I guess Subeta staff already knows about the book problem. There wasn't a single cavern item under 50k =P This "solution" with the mystery box is the worst.

How about a webcomic about villains stumbling around redemption arcs? Drop by:

I really don't like it when people purposely inflate items just because that one shop is in the mystery box. I get it though it's gonna happen but when items jump from 1-10k all the way to 500k .... yeah it's a bit much.
People need to calm down a little with inflating, seriously. We don't have have the quest challenge thing. What even.
I got through 8 of them today because luckily I had no second items. But seeing rarity 56 books going for 89k is making me a little ragey. I mean at least the other 400k and up books he asked for were at least rarity rare or higher.
Here is the thing that might be more concerning. Of my quest rewards I got decent sp but 4 of 8 of those items were super rare. The rarities of those super rare items were 98, 99, 90, and 99. Is that balancing or is Alexander glitching??
Alexander has given out great rewards for a long time. I'd say he hands out super rares about 50% of the time.
I think I finished two of fifteen quests for the Library today (and I also failed Shinwa because I couldn't do Alexander's quests), and I only got asked for the same three Cavern items every single time (which were ~1mil each or unbuyable). I'm willing to give Cavern another week as the Library partner to see if it encourages people to actually restock there, but I'm not sure some shops should be included in the rotation, considering how expensive books already are -- adding in jewellery, inflated stuff like the Cavern's, or Apothecary items makes 90% of the quests there not worth doing.
I usually get like 2 super rares per fifteen quests or less and they tend to be closer to 86. I have never seen a rate like 50% super rares from him but maybe I'm unlucky (though I dont really feel it)
Getting 4/8 items being super rare but especially three of those being 98, 99, and 99 just seemed off. Esp considering it was only a one item day for every single quest.
I get super rares from him all the time, that seems about right. It's why his quests are worth doing for me.
I kinda don't like this change because it doesn't make sense to me in terms of canon. Why does Alexander want a bunch of random jewelry? Why does he want a hookah? Either something needs to be tweaked, or his story/description needs to change.
I'm a little disappointed to see the second item ditched completely. I think it need a bit of tweaking, but on most days it was good to see stock from otherwise neglected shops moving. I hope staff continues to re-evalute and balance the requests of quest givers.
While I did like the idea of a second item from a random shop, yesterday I believe was just awful. Cavern of Curious items were just... Selling for like 1 million or more. An r51 item couldn't even be bought any more. I don't know what was happening, but it was seriously broken. But I don't think it was a problem with the system, rather a problem with people abusing the system. And being foolish about it too; no one was gonna spend that much on an item for a quest. They're shooting themselves in the foot with that. I hope they re-evaluate it (take out the Jewellery shop somehow) or just make it completely random so it can't be abused. Or leave it as it is now, cause that's fine too. (Though maybe make it not ask for r80+ books any more, cause with the new restocking rules for rarity splitting, those books are like 400k and that's just absurd to spend on a quest item.)
I think a big part of the problem with Curios is that not only is there a limited amount of items that stock in that store, half of them are fairly new on the site and so there wasn't a good supply available on site already like the headscarves.
I'm actually a little disappointed to see the second item go away completely because, as noted, it really did move items from stores that don't get much traffic.
I wonder if there's a middle ground somewhere, like limiting to item value the way Quentin's or Cinthia's quests are.
I am disappointed to notice today that they have stopped asking for the second item. People are making it sound like it is the end of the world if they can't finish a quest.. I don't like not to either, but I'm still alive. xD I didn't get to do my quests yesterday as I was actually to busy with RL for once.. but I like how it has helped lower prices of items that go thru the Mystery Box. I hope they bring it back.. maybe with a cap like mentioned.

With the hugely inflated pricing on books it doesn't make sense to have a second item, especially when that second item comes from a source that can be exploited fairly easily.
I thought the huge influx of restocking books and then being given out as Quest A Thon prizes dropped the prices?
From today:
Super Inflated - 200k - 203k
Cheap - RS - RS [item=Spot Spot!] - RS - RS - RS - RS [item=Fun With History: Atebus] - RS - RS (in shops for 13k)
When Alexander was asking for items of jewelry I refused to do his quests just not worth doing he was/is getting like saggi if all the quests are going to be like this they won't get done
- 77,777 - 79,987 - 50,000 and then jumps quickly - 532,999 - 50,000 - 53,949
That's from today for me. There are other users commenting on books being quite high often as well.
While I liked the second item for most days, it really did need tweaking. ATG and CoC should not be asked if they are going to have such a small pool. However, inflated books were my problem today (even with the second item removed). I had to quit 4/10 quests because of these books: 54k 50k [item=Fun With History: Shadowglen] 62k And while those aren't HORRIBLE, this one was ridiculous: 747k
Alexander is asking for inflated Super Rares, but Saggi isn't... So weird how these things have changed lately.
All That Glitters actually has a fairly big pool; there's 61 items he could ask for from it. Problem there is nobody restocks and none of it comes from vends so it inflated quickly. Also he asked for it first day so hype.
I'd have liked to have seen the rarities asked for tweaked a little up from 60 -> 65 would have increased the Cavern pool from 9 -> 20. Maybe cap vending up from 60 -> 65 in line with the change and so it covers all normals. :x
The book prices... eh, I still do everything up to 75k because of the item rewards, but as mentioned elsewhere, rare items are dropping in value so it's not really worth it to splurge atm. Books were one of the most popular items to vend so the upwards pressure isn't surprisingly. It'd be good if the pool of items he asks for was expanded beyond just books to be honest.
