MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS AGAIN. AUGH. At least there was an opportunity for a new pet name. New Gems, conspiracy theories from S2 unearth again and holy heck. :c That cliffhanger of doom though.

Wow...just. Well there's a few things we've learned now about Lion and that was a pretty spiffy redemption payoff.

TSo, when Steven returns do you think he'd bring Connie with him as another gem scanning barrier? I would expect him to refuse to let her go, for fear of her ending up like Lars, and her refusing to be put aside.
I'd love to see the new gems going to Earth. What a tremendous source of information they could be!

Well Connie HAS been trained in the whole fighting thing, but since Steven now knows it was a 'sword' that everyone believes that shattered Pink Diamond, he may keep her out of it because she IS the only one that really knows how to use it besides Pearl. I'm honestly convinced it was Pearl that did it now - which is why all the weirdly timed tears and such. Perhaps Yellow Diamond exerted some of her power over her - like how Blue Diamond can make everyone cry - and Pearl acted on that impetus.
It's going to take -at the very least- a full season for the OC gems (off color) to get where they need to get and off-planet. I'm honestly looking forward to Steven's explanation of New Lars to everyone - including his family. ~SU

going down the rabbit hole
when the zircon lawyer was working out who actually killed pink diamond, she implied that it was another diamond but idk. i agree with i think our pearl did it. i've been suspicious about pearl having done that for a while now but this episode really shed light on how weird it was that rose supposedly somehow did it.
especially thinking back to the bismuth episode where bismuth said she had offered rose the "secret to victory", the breaking point, where rose refused on the same grounds as steven- it was wrong to break gems. i really can't imagine rose changing her mind about it... but i can imagine pearl doing rose's dirty work, maybe even behind her back. and i can imagine rose later trying to take the blame for it to possibly spare pearl.
but i also have questions, if the breaking point was used... if rose used it, why didn't she unbubble bismuth at that point?... but if pearl or even someone else had used it, they wouldn't have known where bismuth was/why she was bubbled in the first place...
but maybe i'm completely wrong :P you'd think if pearl did actually do it she would finally step up and admit it after all this time instead of letting steven put himself in danger repeatedly because he thinks he has to live up to his mom's legacy and take responsibility for her actions.
I was legit crying when lars "died". I was scared when he was on the ground and I was just like "this is a kids show they cant just kill off lars" then i was like "wait this is steven universe they can do anything"
i want these new off color gems to go to earth and join the crystal gems, they would really fit right in and hopefully feel safe and comfortable since the crystal gems are the Original off colors.
i also hope that the cool teens back in beach city accept lars' new appearance and think he's cool and tell him he's cool. he deserves it after yknow, his redemption and sort-of-death.

Blue Zircon? Yeah, I seriously hope she wasn't shattered by Yellow. I doubt Blue would let it happen
Interestingly, while I think it was Pearl, I don't think it was of her own volition. Did anyone notice that in 'The Trial' when Blue screams 'IT WAS A SWORD' and the whole room turns blue - everyone starts crying: EVERYONE. EVEN YELLOW DIAMOND. ((6:21 in the video)) That brought up a very interesting piece of information - if lost in their emotions so strongly, diamonds can inflict the consequences of their emotions on everyone - including other diamonds and pearls in the near vicinity.
Interesting tidbit here, they brought in Eyeball as an (pardon the pun) eyewitness, yet she couldn't tell when Amethyst was impersonating Jasper. This leads me to believe that someone shapeshifted into something resembling Rose Quartz AFTER PD was shattered.
Second thing: everyone keeps yammering on about white diamond yet I think she's solely a fusion that can no longer exist. The giant statue in Homeworld may be her leftover ship piece (as blue and yellow were the arms, and pink diamond had the legs in the desert where Steven got the key) that is there to scare the current hierarchy. Interestingly enough, in the Trial, you see 3 specific colors join at the center of the room - pink, blue and yellow. Cyan, Yellow, Magenta can be combined to make white light. The pillar itself that Steven was on was black-ish along with the blue (not sure if it was representing the Key color).
I dunno, maybe I'm rambling. Thoughts?
[spoiler=] you could be right about pearl being "possessed" by yellow diamond's abilities. since yellow is over the military it would make sense if her ability was to make others around her militant. if she orchestrated pink's shattering i guess the big question is why, or if even that's what she intended?
i'm not sure about white diamond being a fusion, though you make an interesting point about the body part ships, and it could explain why she's never brought up. but consider the diamond authority symbol, at first it included pink diamond, but the current one still has yellow, blue and white. why would white still be included if she's no longer possible? to scare gems like you said? Looks like Lapis might turn traitor (or at least turn her back on the Crystal Gems at this point, I doubt she'd join the Diamonds). :/
I... kinda dislike the Lars of the Stars bit, I hope it's confined to that one episode and the whole show doesn't become what looks like a parody of Space Opera. Though it would make sense to have it be a parody episode, and I would guess it is... I just feel like they're adding so many characters that appear for perhaps 1 or two episodes then are never seen again... Aquamarine, the Zircons, and possibly this Emerald (or whichever gem she is). I liked the tight-knit feel of the earlier seasons, which seemed to allow for more character development rather than just throwing them in there. Though I wouldn't go so far to say this is another Bleach, and it's not like I know what the Crewniverse is planning. I've seen a lot of critique of the last season or two, and I admit I do agree with some of it. I still love the show though, it's just... they seem to mess up a lot in various ways. I'm still sticking with it and the fandom though, since I do love (most of) the characters and I want to see where it goes.
Ack, sorry for the rant-ish look of this post. I don't mean to get all upset or critical really, I just have a few pet peeves.
As for the Lapis bit, the parts in the trailer were shown out of order so I don't know for sure it goes like this, but I think the part where Peridot is like "won't you give Earth a chance?" comes right before the part where Lapis looks back, appears to steel herself, and leaves. The lighting is similar and it seems like that order would make sense. Sorry Peri, I don't think even your cuteness can win a war with residual fear. Though maybe Lapis will come back later, perhaps at the vital time or something like that. Lapis has attempted to leave before, after all("Same Old World" and even way back in "Ocean Gem"), and it didn't work out.
I do kind of worry how the whole "shipping wars" might devolve in the midst of these episodes... there will be big things happening in the show, I'm sure... how will that affect the fandom?
Of course, if this is all done in the "bomb" format then I suppose there won't be much time for any real turmoil...
Oh, and I met Shelby Rabara at CTcon this year! She was really sweet and nice! I got her signature on one of my Peridot plushies, and I got to take a video of her calling me her " clod" which was awesome! Fun con that year. I couldn't get into the panel with her and Michaela Dietz though, I was actually one person away from the door while waiting in line, when about 5 people sneaked in from the other side of the doorway, and then the room was full. Which kinda sucked, but I don't mind that much since I'm pretty sure there was a video of the panel and I got to meet Shelby later.
Looking forward to the new episodes, despite whatever misgivings I might have!
So much love for Steven universe... It's one of those shoes I look forward to sharing with my children one day
