A spectacled/Andean brown bear? Facial markings kinda like this? Spectacled bears have a wide extent of markings similar to that, with some looking like they have spectacles. lol Honestly, it's really up to you however you feel like drawing. I don't have a bear pet (yet), so maybe how you draw this bear will determine that pet LOL. Or, a signature picture. c:

(Sorry about the late response, by the way ;-;) Looool, do you tend to stick to themes when you make those drawings? I know when I doodle, I tend to start with a weird shape and turn it into whatever comes to mind.

I was going to do a baby bear at first but i found this reference photo and really liked it. Typically i go from a reference photo or two just so i can get proportions and lighting look correct. I used to have to trace but I only do that with my pointilism drawings just to save time.. and i just realized now that you were talking about the pointilism .. uhhhm yes. same sort of thing, I usually go with a reference photo that I've either taken or feel like drawing. I have a few examples on the tumblr link that i posted :) this was the most recent one i finished it was done for my nana for a late christmas gift. For that she gave me a photo of a horse she had as a child; the photo was faded at the edges so that gave me the idea to do the background as an oval rather than the traditional rectangle.

-- I'll get back to the bear and make the suggested changes (the paw) and work in it some more as soon as i can. I have my first exam today and later tonight i have student clinic for four hours. ~ :o

That's a very cool picture! I hadn't realized it was pointilism until you had said so. LOL When I draw, I find myself becoming obsessed with making it look like the real picture, without developing a specific style to it. (At least when it's done by hand) When it's done by tablet, I usually find myself better off (and less obsessive).

I used to be the same, im just now starting to want to change little bits to make it my own. :) It's a growing process.

I'm in school to become a registered massage therapist (in ontario) and we have to have so many clinic hours before we can graduate or take our provincial exams. So our school opens up a clinic to the public where people can come in and get a massage for 35$ for an hour (in my area massage is usually 85$ on hour) where the students get to treat them. We have a supervisor/teacher there if we have any questions on what to do for treatment. The money all goes to the school and you usually get three one hour treatments per clinic (unless someone just doesnt show up). I honestly love it just for the experience of it whether it be just palpating different anatomy or getting the chance to learn and feel what arthritis or other dysfunctions feel like. :)

school has been so stressful! I took a mental health day today and skipped my class (it was a review class) so I had time to do this. :) Two more months til I graduate though!! I just gotta keep pushing.
