Is there no way to turn off the HA's default hair when you put a wig on? My avatar's hair still shows through when I put on a wig in the wardrobe. Is this an issue with the beta wardrobe and it won't show up when I wear the outfit or do I constantly have to switch between my hairstyle and a bald hairstyle every time I put on a wig? Because that sounds exhausting. I uncheck the 'hair layer' and save and refresh but to no avail.

I tried googling it but apparently all issues I have been having on subeta have either been stupidly obvious and I'm missing them or just nobody ever discusses them.

Yes, you have to choose bald.

What about contacts? Do they overwrite the shape of the default eyes? Or will they show underneath the contacts, especially they really big default eyes. Do I have to choose 'no eyes' for that too?

I was thinking that we could save different wigs and eyes and skin tones in different outfit slots and wouldn't have to worry about changing face elements all the time, basically.

If you're using an eye item that doesn't completely cover the default eye then you may want to either choose a different default eye style or select no eyes. I find using default eyes and contacts at the same time to be helpful because some eye items don't have eyebrows attached, so you can use the eyebrows on the default eyes while having a contacts of your choosing on top.

And I'm not sure if it works that way.

Yes I noticed that, that's unfortunate. Not to mention it's hard searching through all the items because they're not named 'eyes' and 'eyebrows' :(
