I'm honestly the most lost on your because you gave me so many options :X This is a very, very rough with no depth sketch just as a "This could happen" type of thing because I need some idea of what might interest you to continue. If you're still not sure, I may nix the rug entirely and it will not be returning for future recolors so please let me know if you have anything specific in mind! LINK And like the others, if you haven't already suggested an item image please do so now!

like the rug a lot like seriusly I love it. I suggest nutrals for the rug to work with but the purple is amazing. I think it's perfect honestly. If I was comissioning it itd be next step so I'm completely happy. I'm sorry if I bombarded you with ideas I'm sorry I just wanted to give you options. ;^;
Plus we have round rugs on subeta already, although tiny we do have them.
gahh that looks delicious, and that's more than okay!! as long as the base color of the frosting on the brush matches , all is good! ^o^
That's perfect! I'm very happy with how that looks. As for the ci the only suggestions I have are either to have the belt rolled up on the ground, or have it on a mannequin bust. But if you come up with something more interesting/inspiring feel free to go for that instead ^_^
oh I like how it's coming along! I would have probably of asked for it to be placed a little further to the left but I can see how this placement would likely work best. Looking forward to seeing how you make them look more like stars. (:
As for an item image, I have a few ideas (two of which were ideas from my friends, since I kind of drew a blank for anything further). Athena with her wearing the brooch: Bust 1 and Bust 2. Marie Antoinette wearing the brooch: Bust 1 and lastly a a proud cat with it on it's puffed out chest.
Please pick whichever one you like best.

Overlay part is done. I did quite a bit of a change from the original reference you linked but this is simply because resize really eats a lot of the detail and something as detailed as what you suggested ended up looking like mush instead of a star. If you have any suggestions in the off chance you absolutely hate it, please let me know, otherwise I'll be proceeding with this! LINK
This is going to be a bit of a /process/ for me, since like I said when I announced the winners, BGs are something I struggle with. For now, what I have is STILL a sketch, but a potential idea on how I may do the shading for the rug? and more neutral colors. (Nothing has been done to the wood) LINK
I went with slightly softer, more brownish / cream colors for this simply because I personally thought it looked much more delicate. I also wanted the cake itself to be a noticeably different color than the cake so that it was obvious what was on the brush! Let me know if this is fine by you C: LINK

I completely understand what you mean about when you resized the details didn't shine through, so no worries at all about changing it. I really love how it's coming together, in fact, I have to say it looks more brooch-esque. (:

LINK I went with the bust idea, and added the robe and stuff, but unfortunately since I need to make the brooch the focus I needed to remove the head or else it would have been far too small and probably would have gotten denied for not connecting to the overlay well enough! If this sketch looks cool though, I'll be finishing the item up from here C:
