I saw the weapon for the first time the day of its release. I can always throw boring generic stats on it then, but for weapons dropped by CS opponents I try to come up with some custom coding. It takes a few days to come up with something fitting.
Regardless, the statting of loot is far down on the list of things to get done. I might get to it tonight if I have the time.
So I knew we were getting an "air" weapon. So what? I don't know what it's going to be. I take everything from its name to its description to what it looks like into account for how I stat it. I refuse to stat something blind. Unless you want generic garbage for your CS weapons, I can give the axe 35 air attack and be done with it.
Ideally I like to take a week after seeing the art to come up with something. Let it mull around in the back of my mind for an idea. Then I'll stat it. And... hey, look. It's been a week. IT HAS STATS!
I enjoy making you guys cool weapons, or at least try to make them cool. CS weapons should never be generic because you paid to get them. But if you don't really care what the stats are, then everything can just have a basic attack and block. Boom. Done.
I'd rather they have no stats for a week while I come up with something interesting than be boring high tier junk.
The only weapon I remember taking weeks was the one dropped by Crithbolcan. That was only due to us being in the middle of the stat cap raise/opponent reset/super opponents push. I think I've gotten everything else statted in a week or less.
I like taking my time in the statting of these weapons. Even if I have the art a few days before (which I usually do, there's occasionally complications like with this month), it's unlikely it'll have stats when it is released. Though I don't like doing it, in the future I'll give the weapons some random generic stats appropriate for the tier, instead of a single icon. It'll still have "STATS SOON!" for the attack text though :P
Usually, the BAs have more than a day (not much, but def more than a day) to see the challenger/loot/weapon. This particular challenger had different circumstances that had us all kind of scrambling for a release (we try to get the challengers out roughly the same time every month). I'm working on making sure the BAs have plenty of time for future challengers (we did really well with those nature dudes). SO HOPEFULLY THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN <3
I believe that is the case here. None of my posts were meant to come off as aggressive or with angry intent. The trolling of the BC regulars was pretty amusing.
Let me explain from the beginning. As Amber already stated, this weapon had different circumstances than previous weapons. I got it the day of the release. And I like to take several days to digest what it is in attempt to come up with something cool for them. Typically, I have a few days beforehand to think of something, and then I tend to get stats on the weapons within a couple of days. This weapon in particular I had plans to finish up three days ago, but stuff (both IRL and other battling stuff) came up and I didn't get around to it as soon as I had hoped to.
I don't like the idea of putting generic "Look at me! I do 30 boring icons!" on a weapon, for a placeholder. I much prefer a single icon to signify "HI I'M BEING WORKED ON STILL!" because... um. If someone who doesn't pay a lot of attention to battling, clicks on the weapon and see it only does X stats (appropriate for its tier) they could easily be like "Oh wow, that's all it does? Yuck! I can get a better weapon for 10k sP! I'm not buying CS challengers again!" whereas if it only shows a single icon I think they'd be more likely to go "Oh, this is still being worked on. There's no way it only does one icon!" If that is what you guys want though, I will do it. That's fine with me.
I will try to get these weapons statted MUCH sooner if I can. But as I've said, I like ample time to digest what the weapon is/looks like to figure out something cool. I'd rather they be cool and late than on time and boring!
