I just hope for the battling forum, an actual battler is hired. Nothing is more frustrating than having a mod that isn't knowledgeable in the area they mod.
Yay, I'm glad that will be getting addressed as well :D
the battle forum has always required fairly little moderating. There's little to enforce (no advertising) and 95% of the activity basically goes in one thread. surely the BAs can move a thread to the subform twice a month without completely turning their schedule upside down
I don't really want a minimod to come poke me everytime I make a post in the chat thread that isn't directly battle related. We remember how that went the last time.
"The battle forum isn't for chatting about non-battling stuff" "I like potatoes. Slots Sporks do icons" "Humm.. ok" "I like bananas. Slots Sporks do icons" "That is spamming" "Slots Sporks do icons"

Give me more forums stevie i want to be MEGAMOD
I don't think that would be a good use of a mod anyway, but there needs to be someone who at least looks at the threads once in awhile and notices two or three threads that are out of place or say lock me. As it is now, BAs do not do this. I'd rather have them focus on what they do than to be pinged to minor forum upkeep things.
I understand that you want a fancy purple icon to go with your gelatin forumset but I don't think they do much on a daily basis anyway. They're very limited in what they can do and highly depend on other staff members. I can't stop anyone from applying to be the new slave in town though.

the purple icon is indeed very pretty, but there are at least five topics on the front page that should be moved into the subforum. at least one in the subforum that belongs in the main forum, and topics sit for days when they ask to be locked. I don't like how neglected the forums can be at times. If I, or anyone else, is willing and able to spend their time to keep it clean and orderly, then I'd be very happy.
kicks and out and steals their forums
To be fair, I don't think announcements ever had a mod because it was more staff run.

Do minimods get paid? I thought it was a volunteer thing, but then people are talking about them being hired. Or does hired just mean chosen for the position? :)
I'd like to apply, although I don't know if I have a shot since I've only been here a year.
I believe hired = chosen for the position and they are volunteer.
indeed, we don't get paid. Unless you count imaginary high fives.
I could pay you in candy
Sadly, unless the requirements have changed, I can't be hired as a minimod as I don't live in the USA, but like several users have said, that's something that I wouldn't have minded. However, even if is best boss, the expenses to move to the USA are not worth it
Doesn't Keith not live in the USA anymore, either? :P
Yeah I wasn't sure if it ever did, but it can occasionally be a busy forum. C:
Yeah, that's a rule for minimods because of the possibility of promotion to UA. I know I wanted to apply last time, but couldn't because of that.
It's a matter of taxes or something.
Yes, I believe it is taxes (I was told that eons ago when I looked into applying). I think there are just a bunch more hoops to jump through to hire outside the USA.
As for Keith not being in the USA, I'm sure there's ways around it since he is a permanent resident (and if there wasn't I'm sure he's going through the proper channels to pay himself).
It just seems weird not to take volunteer help from obviously dedicated players because there's a -chance- or potential promotion(also, when did this last happen?). Especially since Keith is out of the US now as well, and likely has a better idea of how to work out payment/taxes than he did with that was initially said.
