I am absolutely in favor of the new look and not just because of those ears and flippers, the pose is utterly wonderful and gives it a lot more active motion. The old one is cute, yes but it looks very static, as though it were just sort of floating in the water. The new pose those hind legs look as though this picture was taken right before this little critter was in midtwist and flick to swim away. As well, the front paws have a much more realistic look to their positioning. The artist really seems to have put a lot of thought and research into this one, well done!

Good: omg I never liked Ontras, but now it's one of my fav pets? I can see why people think the eyes are too big, but personally I think they're perfect. I guess I just like more chibi looking pets. As for the ears, since the pose makes the Ontra look like swimming, wouldn't it make more sense for them to be in that position? Maybe I don't have enough Animal Planet, but I thought having them straight up would make them fill with water and less aerodynamic. So I think they look fine as they're.

Bad: NOW I'LL NEED TO GET 15 ONTRAS AND I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PET SLOTS, DAMN IT. And I also think the upper part of the front legs look kinda too long compared to the bottom part (sorry for the shitty names, I hardly know how they're called in my language let alone english). I know the length is affected by foreshortening, but I still think it looks a bit short. Buuuut my knowledge in animal anatomy is no different from that of a 5 years old, so maybe I'm totally wrong :'D

LoveloveloveloveLOVE the new design! Especially the head! The addition of ears is great, and I love how soft/fluid the body looks (the old one always seemed very rigid).

I've always wanted an Ontra (because one of my best friends IRL loves otters and they always make me think of her), but the fact that they were earless (and had a oddly round head shape, especially for a marine mammal) always kept me from adopting one. So yeah, I totally support this revamp!

I think this looks fantastic! I wouldn't mind the ears being changed a little, but I also don't mind them how they are. I think this is a great revamp that adds a lot more personality and life to the pet. A+ from me!

I enjoy the ears and I hope they don't go back to being invisible. This is subeta after all not the real world - we can use imagination and even have zombies, time warp-related plots, and magic!

IIRC the old artist for ontras once described them as something of a mix between otters and cats, so I'm not too bothered by some kitty influence haha.

I am deeply troubled by this revamp because I HAVE NO ROOM FOR MORE ONTRAS, I just.. morphed my arid ontra into an irion because I was so tired of the outdated art and now you are doing this to me, why Subeta, whyyyy. :'( I've always really adored ontras (I used to own three actually, though now I'm down to one) and I am stoked to see them getting some attention!

Overall I really love this proposed revamp, but like several others I am slightly bothered by the ears. I'm really glad that the ontra finally has ears (the lack of ears has always looked so weird to me and it also makes them hard to draw haha), but I don't really like this style that much? They make the ontra look kind of shy, I'd prefer for the ears to be more based off a river otter's. I've always liked that the ontra seems kind of spunky, so I'm not really a huge fan of how the expression all comes together. The eyes, also, seem too big -- they're about the same size as the old ontra's eyes but the head overall is smaller, which makes them seem really huge!

Aside from that, probably my only complaint is on some of the coloring haha -- not that I dislike the shading, at all. It's just that the area on the tail, where the lighter underbelly color meets the more orange color of the ontra and the lighter part is heavily shaded, it just.. really doesn't look good, I think that if the shaded cream part were a little lighter it'd look better. I'm bad with wording what exactly bothers me but-- the two colors seem too close to one another in that area and it's not attractive. Obviously that's not a huge part of the pet, lol, and most people probably won't even notice, but. :'D For some reason it's standing out to me hahaha.

I do absolutely love this revamp (did I mention that I love the added toes and the new tail style because holy dang I love), though it is also going to kill me because I have no pet slots, cries, and I already got my loyalty box for the year. Um I'm afraid that you Subeta artists are going to have to stop being so fantastic with pets :///

this is a wonderful proposed revamp! I adore the shading and the updated tail, and those ears ;o; Though I do agree with whomever said the ears standing up would look a bit better. If this exact design got pushed through as the revamp, however, I wouldn't have a single thing to complain about uwu

i love it! it's so cute and the art looks a lot more current. plus it has more character (ex the ears are down, its arms are tucked in, it has a shy little grin).

I was literally thinking that the ontra might need a revamp the other day! I felt a little sad to get rid of my ontra as I love otters so much but… Wow! I totally love this revamp! It makes me want to keep my ontra now (but now I'm impatient for the chibi revamp! x3) I absolutely love how it has ears now and twice the amount of freckles! The new one seems more relaxed in body position, so I'm all up for this revamp! :D

Critique-wise, I do appreciate its folded ears but although otter ears do stand but I feel they may look a bit strange. However, I don't mind if the ears are in-between folded and stand so you see a bit of the inside of its ear but not revealing all of the inside ear. The fins are nice, not too sure on the stripes as it kind of conflicts with the freckles too much. The extra mini fins are okay but I don't mind too much if they're taken off but it does make the ontra more aquatic looking.

It has CUTE ADORABLE FUZZY LITTLE OTTER EARS OMG KILL ME NOW. And the shading is BEAUTIFUL. And I LOVE the extra little tail fins. So basically, PLEASE let us have the new one.

I love the ears :x At first I didn't care for the new fins on the tail but I think without them the tail would look too long and the more I look at it, I feel like it works because it looks like an actual sea tail versus just kind of being there?

love this design - the new head shape, and the added ears.. the fins make it look a bit more 'exotic'/fantasy-like.. I'm starting to think that I might actually adopt one, based on what teh revamped colours will end up looking like.

i think it looks great. i love that it has ears now, and the shading is lively. my only nitpick is i'd want to see the tail fin spread further apart (so you can see that it looks like a whale fin). that's just my personal preference that i think would add to the image, despite the perspective technically being correct.
