We are working on something for those who have finished and never got Chase! :)
I can understand that Swashbuckles were getting to cheap, but imo the solution sucks. It seems to me that the most fair solution, would be to make the Swashbuckle an achievement prize and allow us to continue playing Item Hunt after we get the achievment. I am one who finally beat Chase a while ago, but had not bought the tome yet and will now not be able to play it again, while those who did buy a tome can use it for income. At least a warning would have been nice. This is just another reason I've not been playing on here.

What was the question?
That's true. Still I don't really like the solution that has been chosen. Before, Item Hunt was so difficult, people only completed it once every 5 years, so there weren't that many Swashbuckles given out. Now Item Hunt has become extremely easy, so it can be completed every half a year or so. That is a problem, I agree. I'd prefer if the problem would be fixed by making Item Hunt harder again. Because making it so that you can only finish once is just an extra incentive to not finish it to me. And that doesn't feel right. I already bought a Swashbuckle from another user, and if I can't restart Item Hunt, then there's just no point in finishing for me. I'm a bit sad that it has to be this way.
Oh yay thank you :D Appreciate the ping! Honestly thought I would have gotten him since I have crap luck at games and then ended up beating Item Hunt .. welp!
ok but that still poses a problem as a prices on hover stay the same for days. Also can you make the ih tome readable coz now it has no function and thanks for the extra turn on reflection tho i think the level of difficulty at 25 turns is doable (won 4x4 4 times so far) the negating factor for the game imho is the 4/2 hours wait times for non-ga/ga , shorten that to a more user-friendly timing to 2/1 hour(s) for non/ga will get more players to play it and more items in circulation!
I was just about to make a reply on here asking about an alternate way to get Chase as a challenger, I'm glad to hear you guys are working on something! I had absolutely no idea that you can't go beyond level 100 on Item Hunt and I was waiting to earn more sP before I bought the tome and got him as a challenger, so I was concerned. :'D
I miss being able to do Item Hunt and I'll always be a little bummed that it doesn't restart, but it makes sense that the tome can no longer be used for that.
(also sorry about the unnecessary ping pfff whoops)

You can make a "Delete a Swashbuckle" achievement. Problem solved for now :P
Wait, seriously? I never knew item hunt ended. I thought you'd just restart at level 1.
Suddenly I'm glad I've never "won" before. :P

Yeah, as far as reflection prizes go some of them from the hard level have only like 30~ on site and we've had this revamp out over 6 months SO THAT'S PRETTY SAD. I'd like people to not give up on the game, you know?
i second this. it's a good idea and it will prevent the weapon from deflating in value. please bring it back :p
you're crazy...
I was going to mention how this was so uncool because there wasn't any warning or anything BUT HERE COMES AMBER TO SAVE THE DAY so I'm good :D!
I agree with the idea of making Item Hunt repeatable but the Swashbuckle only obtainable once. I had no idea that I wouldn't be able to repeat it after level 100 until after I'd already beaten it. And until I saw this thread, I didn't even know you /could/ get Chase as a battle opponent. So yeah, I'm not that happy about this update.
There CERTAINLY should be a warning on the game page letting people actually know that they won't be able to restart after reaching level 100. It's...honestly really annoying that there isn't one.
You just made me panic (very mildly) about not having unlocked Chase as a challenger yet. Not cool! :C I'm glad you're finding a solution though, so thanks for that. c:
I'd honestly prefer just preventing people who have won their Swashbuckle from winning another, rather than from playing the game entirely.
Also yeah, I'd given up on Reflection just because of the luck aspect of it. I'll give it another go! :)
Thank you. I hope that 26 chance for Reflection will give good results
Sorry - once you beat it you can never play it again? Thats a HUGE source of sP so basically people either have to decide if they want an achievement or if they want to continue making money?
Or am I completely misunderstanding this because I just woke up? ?

Item hunt should not be easy to complete. It should not cost 15m or whatever crazy amounts people have been spending to win. THAT is the problem. Fix the daily average/overall average that's been fucked for many months now and that wouldn't even be an issue anymore.
:L Well I guess I know for sure that I can stop trying to finish Item Hunt
Thank you so much for the extra move in reflection, I'm glad it's being monitored!
I throw my lot in with those not happy about Item hunt going back to being a one time thing. RIP Wonderful feature, sometime after 11.13.09 to 5.30.15 LOL I only use it for profits right now, because I don't have near enough to ever win. (Or so I thought, I didn't realize it had gotten crazy cheap to win. Plus, I just saw someone post that they sold their Swashie for 350mil! That's too deflated???? Shows how much I know about prices!) But once I hit my savings goal, I fully intended to try for level 100 and buy that tome to start over and go back to earning again. If I can't start over, I'll never go for that ach/prize/etc because I make more with item hunt than I do anywhere else. (I rarely price my shop and usually run out of time to quest.)
But when the Gilded tome allowed us to restart it was all okay then? It's just no one thought of the multiple swashbuckle problem that would come along because as hard as it was to finish, people weren't making it through over and over. Or even trying often for that matter. But with the price issue now, it's too easy, so people are winning easily/multiple times, thus the deflation problem. So if the average price calculations are what is making it cheap to win, people aren't spending as much to win the weapon and so if they sell they may be willing to undercut more on their price and deflate it a little. Adding in the winning multiple times magnifies the problem, but the root is that pricing model.
But I'm babbling. Anyway, regardless, there's a better solution than taking away an option people were really happy to get, and over the past 5yrs have gotten used to and appreciate. If the average/daily price issue is too big a problem to fix (I don't know, is it? I have no clue but if it were easy I spose it would be working!) I like the achievement idea best.
Add an achievement for beating the 'whole game' make the prize the swashbuckle, and take the swashbuckle prize away from tier 100 in the actual game. TADA! Now no one has to choose between making sp and getting Chase as a challenger/winning the weapon/getting the title that comes from beating level 100. AND no one can win more than 1 Swashie and the gilded tome has it's use back. ^_^
The Swashbuckle is in shop search for 90 mil. Before it was worth at least 10 times as much. So it did deflate quite a bit.
I agree with you though. Probably introducing an achievement that awards the Swashbuckle would be the best solution, since I don't see the average pricing issue being fixed anytime soon.
I think the intended point of the gilded tome was like, if you got to level 80 and failed, you could use the tome to get a jump start. I don't think it's intention was ever for people to use that item to be able to restart the game.
Basically the same as the Ornamental Item Catalogue-- only 50 instead of 10.
Anyways, I agree that the Gilded tome is sorta misleading now... I definitely wouldn't be opposed to both it + the previously mentioned Ornamental Item catalogue being changed to readable as a primary purpose and/or the only purpose (then it won't be useless or misleading anymore) -- thoughts?
And in regards to Reflection kjdhfgdg I actually won like 6 times before (had a system and everything) but I can't count the "UGH ONE OFF ARE YOU SERIOUS"s I had. I do agree the items are still pretty damn expensive though (even if I made some killer profit form selling the not books).
Perhaps Crypts could take a page from this and become, idk, easier B|... because those prizes areee pretty ridiculous too.
