Perfect! It's working again, thank you!
:
New (but unreleased) feature!
I'm working on the price history graph that we discussed a few months back. Now if you click on the user shop price of an item, you'll see the prices of those items each time the cron swept through and updated them. Right now, this new feature is unreleased -- only you can see the link -- but I'm hoping we can release it in time.
Fair warning: the graph is ugly. I've got some cosmetic work to do over the next few days, but I thought I'd give y'all a sneak preview.
Glad to see this is coming together! While you weren't lying about it being ugly it is still useful and interesting.
One of the items I looked at was a book that jumped from 400k to 50m in a few months. It makes me wonder if at some point down the road we could add an alert feature to this where a user could set a certain number of items (10 maybe?) to watch, They could be alerted when an item is dropping significantly or the price is going above a certain price point.
Just one more thing to think about, lol.
Thanks for doing this. It is great work!
How long will you be keeping historical data for the graphs?

Good question. How long do you want it kept?
The historical price data doesn't take much server space. We already have all the other item information, so each bit of price history just needs us to store a price and a date, which comes to just eight bytes. Figuring about 50,000 buyable items on the site, a whole year of price history will only take up 48 Kb on the server. (When was the last time you heard data storage quoted in kilobytes instead of mega- or gigabytes?)
We've got enough server space to store price history for the rest of our lives. In practical terms, I'd say that we should keep at least a year or two (so we can tell if price spikes are seasonal/event-related), but data older than that has little value other than nostalgia.
Yeah, we could do that.
LOL KBs! I vaguely remember those.
Hmmm how long? Well its pretty obvious looking at the data right now, it doesn't provide much info. Too much data, though, is equally as bad. A year or two sounds good. But we'd probably want to make the evaluation after a year, once we see what that looks like.

While I do think a year or so of data is plenty, I would like to see this released to the public once we have 6 months or so of data.
You look pretty, but yeah the glasses aren't quite right. They still work okay though.

, : I'm just glad I'm not the only person who does this.
[edit] Oh, and you two: THIS IS ME NOW:

...you are swimming in money? You still have my address, right? "D
Awww! Your forums has a "fan"
If it were me, I would take that as high praise ;)
I'm a big meanie, but I'd say anything Solsticesprite doesn't like is good! Anytime their support aligns with mine in the suggestion threads, I re-examine my motives to see if I'm messed up in my thinking.
There has been a time or two where we've aligned, but for different motives, so I was okay with that.

So you do feel the same way I do! At least on this particular subject. He is definitely a person requiring some patience r ability to ignore.
yeah. I'm really not sure about them. I don't think they're mean, exactly, but the phrasing used is definitely odd, and some of their ideas are, well I'm not sure how to characterize them, but lets just say not so nice.
I'm not prepared to say they're a horrible person, but there are definitely problems and not someone I'd want to be friends with. Definitely requires a lot of patience, and at times avoidance!
LOL I'm really glad they shudder at the idea of my group (or at least the work required) because I wouldn't want them in a group that requires a lot of posting!

Exactly how I feel.
oh god the anti-user, they don't like anything lol Every time I suggest something "I don't like this idea" with some kind of serious explanation like Subeta is the most important thing in the world.. I learned just to ignore them, they are just negative about everything, unless the user is their friend or the suggestion benefits them..
You should have heard me laugh when I read "anti-user" that is so appropriate!
