very lovely. Thanks :)
take a look :)

this is a wonderful idea and thanks so much. I (and members of my cult) lost a beautiful friend a couple of years ago and her account still exits - albeit her name is up for grabs. It's nice to know that we can file a ticket and have her name saved in remembrance of a much-loved friend.
Thank you for these updates, and for making sure the deceased users accounts are protected in this way.I wish the pets that the person could be protected as well though.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Thank you so much for this. How do we alert you to apply this to an account? I have a friend that passed away a couple years ago. I visit it from time to time, but worry her name will be taken.
Thank you... RIP

This is a truly great addition, even if small. I support pet names being differentiated somehow from the regular _98878 standards, if possible, but otherwise I'm just happy this became a thing.
I don't know anyone here who has passed thankfully, but this is a really nice thing to do. I agree though about the asterisk or some special thing for the pet names after they become available so they don't look so tacky with the _234343 etc at the end.
I kind of wish the usernames could be done the same way as pet names with the asterisk or special mark, but at the same time I could see that becoming potentially problematic with some unscrupulous person trying to impersonate someone else. It's hard to say for sure though.
Thank you for fixing the shop search as well c:

Thank you Subeta for keeping in memory of them. RIP to all those wonderful people. We miss you! ❤
I think it's the dagger symbol, although it's more of a cross: †It's in Unicode though, but I believe most browsers support it.
The issue is, if someone's pet "XYZ" become "XYZ*", and another person creates XYZ and becomes deceased, what happens after that? "XYZ**"?
Thank you so much for both of these updates! :)

I like the pet name idea, I know some of the names are valuable but I don't think those people should really lose those pets...
There should be some system in place... what about the cross symbol for the UN and the pets at the end?
That is true. Good point.

Read that again.
Go Bills!
I personally would really be upset by the usernames being up for grabs, and I'm glad they aren't going to be. That might seem unfair to some, but in some of these cases, those usernames were very personal to the users, and were real names, rl nicknames, etc. that their friends really called them, in real life. So seeing someone else with that username would be a very hard shock. It wouldn't be something that would be easy to get used to, if you ever could, seeing someone else with that username. And I also don't think it would be fair to the person who may unknowingly take the username, not knowing the history - that their mere presence on the forums/trades and stuff could be triggering or upsetting for others.
Thank you for this, it's nice to have the online memorial to visit.
What if, instead of a * or a number suffix, the pets had, using Hope as an example, <petname> (Hope) added to it. If possible. If the name was too long, maybe a shortened form that they used in conversations, or whatever (suggested by a friend, or whoever marks it that way). That way, the name is up for grabs, but it's also memorialized as the pet of that friend?
I'd love to see people's pets keep their names in some fashion -- I know when other users take them, they just become the same name but with _234 and so forth on the end, so it isn't as though they're turning to total gibberish. But if there's an easy way to put a special character at the end or beginning that denotes the pet of a deceased user, that would just be lovely.
If it isn't feasible, thank you again for allowing folks to keep their usernames. It's a really nice thought, and I appreciate it.
Thanks for the ping, love.
I miss you Leeonna.
This is a nice change. Thank you.
How long does it take for the message to actually change? It has been 2 hours since my ticket was closed with the admin saying they had flagged the account. The message still says "This account is inactive. You can Change your Username to it!"
