Basically, event shops should not have multiple recolor sets.
This I completely disagree with. What's the point in having a shop full of items that most people will only use for a two-week period every year? Yes, the portraits are gorgeous, but I only want like three of them. None happen to be any of the gowns. I know that's a big part personal taste, but I also prefer the items that will actually go with lots of other things that I can use year-round instead of for two weeks for an event.

I agree with . I will also never use any of the gowns because I prefer to use smaller items and layer things to create a more unique HA. The gown art is gorgeous, but they're not versatile. The signet masks are lovely, but they're something I'll probably only use during Masq. Recolors of smaller items (like sleeves, leg warmers, and other accessories) are easier for the artists to make, and recolors make them more usable.

That all being said, I'm all fewer wearables being released during events. I'm very much in favor of the artists working on things other than items during events, too! I'd personally much prefer more pets get released during events (but maybe that's just me). And even though I don't collect other items, I definitely appreciate books to boost my pets' intelligence and things I can add to treasure chests.

I think recolours are fine for things like sleeves as long as they match other clothing items on the site. What gets annoying is when there are five or six recolours of a skirt or top which don&;t go with any of the other clothing released in the Menagerie or anywhere else for that matter.

YES. God yes. Nothing more annoying than seeing something that looks nice, only to discover that it doesn't go with anything. But hey, it comes in six different shades of not going with anything!

I also would have liked to see some pretty jewelry and some usable staple pieces more than I would have strange tentacle bustles and boots.

I'm not even mad about all the clothes. I'm mad that most them aren't really... well... wearable (seriously those tentacle boots)

Steampunk -> corsets -> we only have 5 -> I'm not pleased

But omfg octopus rings, I would've worn those forever???

I agree with this sentiment. I remember reading somewhere (probably on the forums) that octopuses/octopi are really important with Steampunk culture... but I think 5 octopus bustle recolors, 5 octopus boot recolors, 4 octopus head charms, and 3 different colors of the mechanical octopus is excessive.

The items are really pretty and have a lot of really lovely details, but ending up with 17 wearable octopus items in a single event (that can't easily be incorporated into other outfits and only appeal to a niche group) is frustrating.

More importantly, there's nothing that brings them into Subeta lore... we have established stories with Subeta Masquerade pet motifs from years past (Fighting Festers, Soaring Mallarchies). I know ducks mallarchies aren't totally awesome steampunk but at least they're part of the storyline already onsite.

I have one octopus necklace and an octopus bracelet IRL. That's it. Yeah, the octopus is a thing in steampunk, but I know I don't go around dripping with octopi all the time. 17 octopus items is kinda overkill.

I'm sort of biased since I love wearables and have found surprising uses for some I never thought I would touch, but I'd definitely be down for a larger variety of wearables in addition to more non-wearable/collection items. Makeup and jewelry would be amazing. Love that suggestion in particular. :)

All in all though, I was really happy with the Menagerie selection this year. I thought staff did a pretty excellent job of adding high quality items to the shop, and many of those wearables were a step up from prior years (not that prior years weren't good too, but the wearables this year were especially well done in my opinion).

I do have to say that I enjoyed how a lot of the wearables make unique TC items. I appreciated that. But I wish we had a variety of collection items to buy, not just wearables.
