I'm not a furry myself but I have a few friends who are. They order custom costumes to wear at conventions and what not. I've got to admit, I found it a little strange at first (though, they are also into the furry pornography so that's maybe why I took a step back) but once I began to understand it a little more, I find it pretty interesting.

I just assumed that all furries were into the pornography and that was wrong of me to judge so I'd like to thank my friends and yourself for educating me on this.

When i was in my early teens i sorta was some kind of furry, because i was in some fandoms with anthro-animals, but when i grew older i stopped being interested in it and stopped drawing anthrostuff, even if i still sympathize with the fandom and appreciate the artwork. I think the issue lots of people have is that mostly the bad sides are prominent for outsiders (same with mlp fandom or homestuck)

I guess im going into the open on this... LOL... Im still scared of telling people Im a furry, because of the whole Zoophillia thing. :( some people just dont understand or they dont want to.

I'm a Furry, and have been even since I was young maybe 11-12 years of age or sooner. I made my first fur suit about age 18/19 I never wore it to event nor have i ever been to one, however i love it during Halloween at haunted houses since no one ever thinks twice about being a werewolf snickers

I've never been to an event, I would love to go but their was no one i knew that is into it, and i hate going to places by myself.

I like furry art, but don't like porn of it or any porn for that matter... Its very relaxing to draw myself, in different forms

I really don't mind furries, and I like to dabble in anthropomorphic art myself from time to time. The furries that I have met and interacted with in real life and online were very strange people, and for a while that kind of tainted my view on the fandom. I think it has a higher chance of attracting strange people than most other fandoms, but there are some wonderful people in mixed in there too.

Overall, you can't judge a whole community on a few weird apples. Furries are alright in my books!

Hmm, well, I've heard the term "furries" thrown around a bit, but wasn't sure what it was. Now that I've read your description, it seems much more understandable. I think that I am in-between. I really like to look at art and maybe even doodle a few when I'm bored, on the other hand I don't go around in costumes (although it's a cute idea).

But overall, I don't think the furry fandom sounds too bad. I mean, every fandom has it's "bad eggs". That unfortunately is what/who people pay attention to and come up with the wrong conclusions, often adding those few good people in the fandom into the mix too. If some people however looked past the bad, then they would probably find the good too!

So don't be afraid! If you can explain to a person as well as you can online about this matter, then maybe they will be able to understand, even if it is a little. If, not, well, there always will be somebody out there who will. In other words, be proud of being a furry! They are OK to me!

I've had mixed experiences with Furries, though on a whole, I like them. The ones that drive me up the wall are the overly sexual ones who seem to think their sexual identity allows them to make incredibly unwelcome overtures to whomever suits their fancy because the animal they identify with wouldn't go for subtlety. I have had incredibly graphic images of stallions (in particular) and a few others, typically felines and canines, emailed, handed over, IMed and texted to me regardless of my interest in that person, their gender or anything about them.

On the other hand, I've got one foot in the lifestyle myself and I love my Furry friends. I find them to be, on a whole, a more open and physically affectionate crowd in the best of platonic ways. I've been able to broach topics of conversation others I've spent time with would recoil at, but with Furries, we just launch into the convo because it's really no big deal to talk about serious things with people you trust.

i used to love the idea of furries and had two furry friends in high school. it's not something that i really identify with nor care for anymore, and i'm not sure that i would really want a costume for myself, but i always wanted to be a white tiger. now one thing that gets on my nerves is when people associate furries with costume orgies. no, no, no, no.

With a significant other who is a furry (us both actually meeting on a furry community while I was looking more into the furrydom myself), I've come to understand all that comes with your best friend/S.O. being a furry. And while he's still largely into it, I myself have fallen out of the fandom of it. But, it's no different than other any relationship.

Being that the relationship is also long distance, we will snuggle while he's in his "rabbit form" through RP. Has he turned it pornographic? There have been times; but they're few and far apart. As far as I'm aware, he hasn't made any fursuits, but I know he wants to go to the Furry Weekend Atlanta in Georgia.

not a furry myself but re: the 99% of furries, go for it, do what makes you happy. there's that 1% of bad apples in every bunch (or fandom, or hobby, etc) but that doesn't dictate the entire group. life is short, if doodling animal people and yiff roleplay makes your journey a little gentler, godspeed
