No, you don't actually get the sword, if you win the duel (it is like rock paper scissors) you win a bag of 50 Steamworks Trinkets. If you lose, you don't get anything :c

Is there any strategy to winning? I've lost every time :(

I got him once-- and today after god knows how many dance invites I had stacked up because I didn't accept anything for a long while he popped up twice. So, yeah... it takes quite a bit of luck or a LOT of dances.

Well, I won by starting off with flat sword but apparently it's random-- like rock-paper-scissors.

I've since had him appear to me twice, one I won, the other I lost. It's indeed super random and not that common. Since I don't care much about the trinkets (or rather, I don't think it's worth the time), I've stopped going to the dancefloor. It's why I asked, cause I hate the extra step. Just gimmeh my dance trinkets. xD

I have gotten him twice, lost once and won once.

I refresh the ballroom dozens, if not hundreds of times, and average running into him once a day. I've lost every single time. I'm really tired of babysitting the ballroom. And losing. :( Not enjoying this.

Does anyone know if refreshing the ballroom (rather than dancing and waiting ad infinitum) works to get him to interrupt?
