Moving on. So I'm trying to rabble together ideas for pet profiles and whatnot. I've got a free coupon from Luminaire for a profile done by the ever fantastic and I'm planning on using it for Hinterlands.

I don't have any art though...I'd love if you guys could help me flesh out this profile. I NEED ARTIST RECS. It's not a super serious profile so I'm not looking for any intensely detailed art or anything. I know I'm going to regret opening this can of worms to be honest. The art needs to have Cullen, Iron Bull, Solas, Dorian, Sera, and Blackwall...so that's six people?? FUCK EVERYTHING I DON'T WANT TO SPEND A TON WHY CAN'T I DRAW WORTH SHIT? Anybody know what the art prices have gotten around to over on Gaia? I have a ton of old shit on there that I could sell, but I hear the economy is absolute shit. SO PLEASE JUST THROW REFS AT ME FROM ANYWHERE ; A ; I'd LOVE to commission the user who did my Hawke profile art but A) They are pretty booked and b) I'm slightly terrified of what I'd end up paying...

Because it's a six person piece I know it's going to be more expensive than a solo piece. Please try and bear in mind that I am but a poor college student who has been sick for the past 3 weekends where I usually pick up my nice spending money. the only thing required on pet profiles are the pet name, owner, and pet color info. everything else is optional!!

for the art, maybe pixels or chibis?! they tend to run a little cheaper than fullbodies do. P:

I'm buying art on Gaia right now actually. XD If you have a ton of old stuff on there, it may be worth trying to sell. I'm paying 400bil for art of my first three Lavellans and (Ena/Efa/Revassan) and their 3 guys. (And, I know 400bil sounds like a lot, but yeah. Inflation on there is nuts. I was able to make ~800bil by selling things that I'd hoarded and didn't want though, so I can't fuss too much). There are a bunch of artists on there that are coming back to find they they can't afford stuff, so the art market is pretty active. (If you do decide to post a request over there feel free to quote me and I can help you bump your thread. I'm Cullen Rutherford on Gaia).

Art can be very pricy depending on what you want. I better do not tell you guys what I will pay for Milans portrait I will get done by Sara. But actually prices here for overlays are most the time quite fair.. somtimes I think them even to cheap.

Also I hope I get the slot for an overlay from Shalashaska for Milan.. cause my digital art skills somhow suck and I can't bring me to make digital overlays lately.

Oh, trust me, I know. xD I buy and make art all the time. I've spent several, several hundreds on art for my main merman OC alone. I don't even want to know what I've spent on everyone else. I'm currently saving up to get a DA: I tarot card style portrait (or maybe even two?!) from one of my favorite artists. But it'll be awhile until I can spare ~$200 because art school takes literally all of my $$$, so hopefully she's still doing them when I can. B(

I always found art here is still a bit under priced in general, imo. A lot of people could still be charging more, considering the amount of work and time they put in, but I definitely feel like the market here is a lot (at least in terms of the art market itself, the profiles and graphics market is awful) better than on sites like Deviantart.

Shala's overlays are so, so nice, though! He's definitely my favorite overlay artist on the site right now, and I order from him whenever I can! 8)

YASSS, I've been wanting those tarot cards since when I went to order the collector's edition, they were sold out! I'm just a little sad that half of the companions didn't make the deck. 8)

Yeah, I was suuuper bummed about the collector, 'cause I missed it by like a week. ;_; I kinda feel like I need 2 of these card decks: one for absolute, pristineness and the other to touch and ogle at my leisure! XD

Same here. I did spent several hundet Dollars for Carus, Areios and Kyron alone. At least I can do a lot art myself but still somtimes have the urge to see what others make out of my OCs. I think Milan will be my most expensive one when it comes to buying art ^^.

I got really really picky with artists.. and Sara is the first one who is really able to get my OCs done like I imagine them. I had somone else who also did about 3 of my OCs.. and his art is really nice.. but somhow the style did not match my OCs (Saras and Arzenos style are totally different ^^), they look to.. soft from Arzeno.. somhow.. cannot describe it better.

Oh Tarot card art style sound cool. You need to show me when you order them. I probably will try to make a tarot style picture of my warden, but not sure if I can manage it.

I only check the art market from time to time to check what people take for overlays. There are some really great artists out there. I myseld never got into the art market myself.. cause people often think me to expensive and I am fed up with messages telling me that I cannot charge that much.. so I decided only to do art trades or art for people I know.

I checked the prices for the tarot card sets.. urgh.. people are insane..

I'm pretty picky when it comes to my characters too!! I always feel bad when I make a buying board here (since I don't frequent deviantart anymore), because I end up turning half the people down since they're style doesn't really match up with what I have in mind. ;___; I can definitely see what you mean with those two artists, though!! always captures my characters really well, so I try to commission them whenever they open up. ; u ;

THEORETICALLY, if I don't buy groceries next month (possible, I guess, since I do have meal plan at the dining hall here), I could afford to get one of the tarot cards done. Although, I've been really wanting to try to do one myself since I love how they look compositionally, and it'd definitely be fun to put together. It'd probably be a good project to do over the summer, not to mention great portfolio wok.

I haven't gotten into the art market here yet, just the profile and graphics market, but that sucks that people say that. I'm very much of the opinion that it is incredibly rude for someone to tell an artist what they think the artist should charge for their art, especially if someone says that because they. A lot of people do that to people on the Profile and Graphics market -- saying that they shouldn't have to pay more that $2.50/250 CSC for profiles and coding that can take hours to put together. :(

I feel you. ;___; I was so sad I missed it. I FEEL THE SAME WAY, THOUGH. I'm also really happy they're doing prints of the tarot card artwork too. I already ordered one of the Cassandra prints (need to get the other still), and I'm really, really hoping they do Iron Bull too.

That is cause I never make a buying board.. cause I have to tell 90% of the artists, that I am not into their style so look myself and that is how I found Sara.. funny actually I found her while browsing deviantart for somthing totaly different and stumbled over one of her portraits and was like "Wow.. I need to check if that artists does draw for others." and now XD.. I am addicted.

Probably try to do them yourself and if you are not satisfied you still can comission the artist to do them for you ?

Yeah sadly that often happens and things like that ruin the art market. No one wanna see how much time it can take to draw a picture (My Milan for example took me about 20 hours). Also it can be really disheartening and demotivating for artists, when others tell them their art is not worth paying the price. It is fine if somone tells me, that they cannot afford it.. but when people tell me "But artist XY charges only 5$ not 25$ like you.. I am only willing to give you 5$." makes me pretty angry.

Oh btw.. were can I order the Tarot card prints ? Needs the one of Cassandra and the Trevelyan Horse.. and Varric.. and Blackwall...
