... head on over to SL and we'll talk.
: Hey! Great name!!! I believe that set up the "SCR" ping group last year. Maybe we can update that to include you and the other new members.
I love this name sooo much. I was so excited when it was open
arts by the amazing
Yes, it was, but that wasn't a very distinguishable class. So, with the "Firefly" aspect, the idea of playing a siren like Inara was simply too good to pass up. I am unrepentant. :D Vagabonds can also lockpick, yes. No one can play two classes, but any team can have two of a class. You could do an all Warrior team if you wished, but that wouldn't be in your best interest due to the nature of the story challenges.
Classes are part of your character; they're what you are in terms of skills. For example, sending your mage into the Unseelie court to croon to the nobles for secrets wouldn't work very well... For this round, Warriors are indeed "classic" and Privateers "furturistic," and no, your character is not both. That's why it's "choices" in the topic title. You are going to play in a setting which is a combination of both elements. You are in Bordertown, which is, as the name implies, on the border between the "common" and "faerie" worlds.
Since they weren't meant to be a factor in the last round, they weren't really used well in context. However, folks didn't want to give them up, so they're back as a really vital part of this one.
Trust me, I will "even out" your skills. No one "godmodes" on my turf. wink, wink No dice rolls, though, simply not needed, and would cause more grief than they would ever solve. Believe me, I have enough balls to juggle as it is, and my fair share of grief. :D
If you picked Ranger because your character is really pretty, you might want to read the Bard options again. :)
I don't pick your classes for you. That's a team decision.
Understood. :) Are races also an option? Does my character have to be human, or can I pick something else? (Not something like Rock Giant, which would probably send the Frenchman plummeting to the ground, or a mermaid or something that wouldn't work or is ridiculously overpowered, but just a species that would work with my character.)
So far, we've had humans, elves, wolves, werewolves, squirrels, Maiars, chipmunks. foxes, cats, faeries, pixies, trolls, goblins, etc.
You like it; you play it. :D
bahaha! I saw that but my phone wouldn't let me edit my embarrassing mistake. I had tried to type. "I'm pretty sure I'm not smart enough for some of the other things". But somehow it just decided to make me the most vain player around and leave it at "I'm pretty". faceplam
Yay! Thanks!! :D
I just took it to mean that one of your character's attributes was that she was pretty, which could come in very handy on an adventure. Let's not underestimate. :D
(Besides, you probably are pretty IRL as well. Most of us Subetans are, especially the Squirrels.)
I would love to be the team Alchemist/Professor again! All this studying on how to teach goblins how to read has given me many resources to draw from for this new adventure. I was wondering though, if any of you knew of a general time frame of when this adventure would begin?
When pigs fly, I want to ride one.
As for smarts, it is possible to have a stupid (or at least clueless) mage, or alchemist, or anything else. It'd add to the character! And your team will be there to help you, never fear. If you want to be a second ranger, though, looks like that's fine. Do try to pick a companion of some sort, a pet or helper or something. Last year, we had a step just for companions.
so if my team is lacking an Alchemist, will there be a challenge we can't do, or can we come up with an alternative?

There is always an alternative.
Perfect! :) If it doesn't affect the team, I do think I'd probably be better at being a Ranger. I could perhaps do an alchemist with a bit of a Ranger leaning if we did need that instead. And I will find myself a companion. I need to work on my HA profile a bit anyway. :)
Is the vagabond/polymath a new persona for this plot? Im finding it difficult to gel the two together, the former is a shiftless nomad, carefree disreputable thief, but the latter is a learned intellectual, artistic, skilled, great thinker, like Leonardo,Galileo, Dr Who comes to mind I have to admit.I am enjoying the challenge of this, I've never done anything like it before.
Nope, not new, and well used in the last. The key to this class is "Jack/Jill of all trades, master of none." Unlike the folks mentioned above, there is a dilettante aspect to our Polymaths, and our Vagabonds are most decidedly not shiftless, nor are they disreputable. (Although our own version of the "disreputable dog" will appear, starting with the first teaser.) The whole class is built to be charming, but not infallible. (Besides, it's my belief that humans are natural polymaths, so there you have it.)
Wayward Squirrel is a world in itself. All "incarnations" are part of the ongoing fiction, which is very interactive. The suggestions of players each year help build the next round. In order to meet the challenges and still have fun, (which is the main purpose,) you do need to suspend your disbelief and dive in. If you're at all fond of Pratchett, Anthony, Gaiman, and Tolkein, you will feel right at home. :D
Oh I see. That sounds interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing how the classes work.
I'm happy for you to be a ranger if you like. It will be fun to see what kind of ranger you create. ^_^
The word vagabond /does/ carry a negative connotation, dear, so I understand Raggy's confusion.

I still plan to be the bard and I know Leaf wants to be a ranger (Right dear?). I do not know what the other 3 wish at this time, so I'll let them chime in. I also want to share a lovely piece of RP that Leaf created for my birthday!
Leaf made his way through the woods, a smile on his face. It was a crisp spring-like day and he had his mind on one thing. One very important thing. Jenna. Today was her birthday and the elven ranger planned to make sure it was a special day for her. “Stay close but out of sight,†he said to two companions trailing along with him and in a flash of red and blur of pink, they obeyed. Reaching Jenna’s home, he noted all the other people come to help her celebrate. Of course he’d suspected the other Misfits would make an appearance sooner or later…probably later in Juana’s case, the elf thought, rolling his eyes. But though he knew Jenna was a vivacious person and very lovable, Leaf was surprised at the number of people present. He waited patiently near a window, enjoying watching and biding his time. The moment Jenna spotted him, he knew by the smile on her face and he grinned as she started toward him. Their eyes met and as Jenna reached the elf, Leaf pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek. “Happy Birthday,†he said. Leaf removed a pack he had on his back and took out the first two presents, a Glacier Magnus Beanbag and a Dinglehopper with a ribbon tied around it. He couldn’t for the life of him figure why someone would use what appeared to be a fork to fix their hair, but then again women were strange about such things. The ranger was glad to oblige if it meant Jenna would be happy and he did like her hair styles. “For the rest of your presents you have to come outside,†he grinned, taking Jenna’s hand and leading her out of the house. Once outside Leaf gave a soft whistle and the bushes rustled as a pink head poked out. Then a Dawn Lifelike Demi Doll emerged and looked up at Jenna, lifting a paw as though in greeting. While Jenna was exclaiming over the Demi, a flapping of wings was heard and then a Sun Lifelike Rreign Doll landed on Jenna’s head, giving her a birthday hug. Jenna looked a bit startled and Kwixis gave a soft roar. “Easy, Kwixis,†Leaf said soothingly. “He’s not taking your place. No one could do that. But he’ll be a friend and help you protect Jenna.†The black dragon blew out a tiny spurt of flame and seemed to accept Leaf’s explanation, though he kept his eyes on the newcomer. Last but not least, Leaf handed Jenna a package that had been too large to fix in his pack. He watched with eager eyes for her reaction as she unwrapped the Enchanted Elven Bow. He’d made it especially for her after she’d showed interest in having one and learning to use his. Though not as big as Leaf’s bow, it was daintier and more suited to Jenna, having been decorated with jewels in Leaf’s favorite color. He hoped it would remind her of him and also offer a bit of extra protection when he couldn’t be with her. With a cry of delight, Jenna threw her arms around Leaf and he laughed and twirled her around. “Happy Birthday, my sweet bard,†he said, kissing her.
Jenna looks at all her gifts and grins from ear to ear. Tears blur her vision as she becomes overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from all of her friends. She looked towards Anna and embraces her and thanks her for the new outfit made from turquoise and grey fabrics, although she's still not too sure about the snake... perhaps Leaf will work on training it so she can rest easy that it won't strangle her while she sleeps. Next she hugs Amdir who had given her another new outfit, this one was more like dusty rose and black colors. She also gave her some invites to grab more fashions for her next adventure. Kelli and Jeanne were indeed late for the party, but Jenna knew they would eventually show up. They always did! She finally turned to Leaf and hugged him once more. "Thank you for my gifts, they are perfect! Kwixis will learn to get along with my little rreign companion." She glanced at her beloved rreign and he nuzzled her head while still keeping a close eye on the little red newcomer. "Thank you for a lovely day and for all the lovely gifts!"
If it does to you, then it does. It doesn't to me, and dictionary stuff goes from your view to a millionaire drifting on a yacht from place to place. Neither one is my character class, and other games would define it by heirs. Beats calling the class "Snickle." But you can if you want, dear one. :D
As to 's confusion, it's the sign of an intelligent mind to me. She's used to Christmas elves and has just run into Tolkein's, so to speak. She's clarifying. IMHO, she's going to be a fantabulous player and fit right in!
Ah, my favorite romance returns! Hugs, Leaf and Jenna! (Happy Birthday to you! Check your gifties!)
