Okay so with Masquerade coming up, and the lack of TS restocks, I really want to see in there. Please. Pretty please.
These are begging to be put back into the MC again: [item2=Melody Flute] [item2=Melody Tam-Tam] [item2=Potion of Purity]
The potion should be available all year round in the MC, there's absolutely no reason for it to be limited to only one season.
The Melody Flute and Tam-Tam could also do with a revamp. The items are old as dirt, but they make great TC items. Surprised they've not been re-released.
:) I've already posted multiple places that the purity potion will be in the Millionaire Center year round after spring.
We have plans of bringing the stickers back in ways too.
We also have plans to bring old collectables from past restock wars/events/etc as an sP sink. :)
I don't think it's cruel to use TS items, especially when we can easily restock them again so the prices don't get out of control. I'd say using a BHH item would be horrible and I'm 100% against that.
...yeah, why were they retired? XD
Digging this thread and hope that ALL the suggested items get re-released (but at precisely the rate at which I can afford them! :) )
Here are a few more: -- at least give other opportunities to get this one for folks who are out of the country, have medical disability/transport issues, are under Secret Service protection, etc. ;)
and These are cruel. They're books, and achievement prizes for reading lots of books -- but if you have more than one pet who's a reader, you can't get the achievements for each pet. In fact, all the edible/readable/usable achievement prizes should be achievable for each pet.
...I guess?? I just really hate the idea of a hard-to-get collectible being made out of a different hard-to-get collectible. The Millionaire Centre ones don't really bother me as much because (as far as I know) the stickers there are all about one million each, which isn't that much, and they're readily available for months at a time. It still takes forever to wait for the stock to rotate, which is annoying, but at least as long as you have the sP there's an unlimited number of them.
But with the Token Shop, it's riskier than that, and even more expensive. If you didn't catch a restock of the sticker the last time it was in the TS, your best bet is to buy it from a user shop. In the TS, the Hot Sticker is 25 tokens (according to SubetaLodge). Twenty-five tokens is roughly 40,000 sP at current SS prices. But because TS items are limited edition, the sticker costs ~3 million, or seventy-five times more. Three million sP to most long-term users, including myself, is not that much. But having to pay that much because you were asleep when the shop restocked or your internet crapped out or something is extremely frustrating. Plus if you didn't catch a restock and you need both the Hot Sticker and the Chaotic Bonfire Sticker you can make from it, then you're out six million instead of three.
On top of that, the TS restocks in limited quantities, meaning that there are only so many of that item in existence. So what if someone decides to buy every single one and sell them for ten million each? Is that enough for staff to do a rerelease, or is that still in acceptable range? Because hey, monopolies are fair game on Subeta! Or what if someone buys them all and just puts them in their vault? There's still (for instance) two hundred on site, but no one can buy them. Or maybe literally every single one somehow ends up in a sticker album because they're single-use items and you couldn't buy one if you tried. And even if there is a restock, what if you're unlucky again and miss it? Then you're just back at paying 3 million each (but even more pissed off). And on top of all of that, the Hot Sticker is pretty seasonal (at least to my eye), so if this happened in October you might be completely out of luck for like eight months while you wait for summer to roll around again.
idk, I just get really frustrated about collecting on this site because it's like we're not supposed to do it because it just gets harder and harder to get the necessary items because they keep getting put in places that are next to impossible to buy from, but then the site incentivizes it by making achievements for it. I don't get it.
(inb4 "collecting is supposed to be a challenge!!!1!11!" tbh I don't want to be challenged, I just want to be able to buy things and put them on a nice alphabetized page and look at them.)
When we do TS restocks, we check the prices they are going for in shops (to make it still worth the tokens) as well as how many are on site. :) I've done restocks before for Token Shop of items that have nothign to do with the season/holiday happening. We brought back that candy cane last night to the Crystal Shop ... when it's clearly not Luminaire season. That hot sticker has already been restocked in January of this year, along with other expensive items in the TS.
And yes, collections are supposed to be a challenge. But we don't want to make them impossible, which is why we are doing the sP sink of old collectibles you can't get anymore soon. Things like stickers, plushies, books, etc. They'll all be involved in this. and I are making a point of going back through old practically unbuyable trivia prizes and putting them in the Crystal Shop. Not everything can happen right at once, but we are working on it. :)
But why the Crystal Shop? The most tedious place to earn points for? Is there really no better way? Vending, fragging, and then turning in crystals, over and over again . . . I would rather give a Tigeran a bath.
Forget I said anything 0_0
I love that we are getting some of the oldest items back, though! Thank you two very much for this.
We try to find a way to balance getting old items out with not just completely devaluing them. It isn't always perfect, but it can be difficult especially with the old Trivia/other event items that don't have a specific value. I really hate things being actually unattainable, but even on Subeta that is sometimes the reality of it. The great thing about the Crystal Shop is that it (generally) doesn't flood the market TOO much. I only ever restock 100 at a time, at enough tokens to prevent them from being bought out as quickly as Token Shop items. When I put items in there, I make ones that currently cost more on the shop search cost more tokens.
It actually has a conversion on the admin page that lets us see how much it would cost to just buy the crystals without doing the work, so we have an idea of how much it actually costs to obtain. It's always a fraction less than the item is currently worth. I don't bother putting anything in there that's not an incredible bargain to buy with crystals. It just takes some work. I mean, I just put an item that was being sold for 50 mil in for 400 crystals. At 6k a crystal, that's only 2.4 mil! It also helps keep some junk items worth something because they're being used when they otherwise wouldn't be.
You did remind me that I need to do a meetup soon!
I think much more thought needs to be put in to how many of an item gets released at a time, 100 is far too many for some items and likely not enough for others. The lack of consideration to quantity worries me especially if there's going to be old plot prizes re-released even if its an sp sink. Those above all need the consideration of how many of each items exists on site, aside from current user prices and demand, since shop prizes are not bought in anywhere near equal quantities to begin with even ones with exact same plot currency price.
When it's items that are unbuyable or nearly unbuyable, we usually start with 100 to gauge interest. It's really interesting seeing what actually sells and doesn't. I forget exactly how many Shinwas Lightning I put in there (20?), but only 20 exist right now, and when I cleared the shop there were 11 remaining in stock. Sometimes if they sell out super quick we'll do another restock. If they just sit around, we wipe the remaining stock every so often.
people be asking for huge dreams with a lot of rage
honey/vinegar and all that?
I've already posted the two I'm hoping for, the Chocolate Blob Kitty Head thing and the Blob Kitty Luminaire book thing. Other than that, I generally enjoy seeing old holiday stuff, old collection items in general, and items that have been added to achievements that are impossible to find now. And really unique one-offs from a long time ago that are almost never re-released, the kind of thing that people have had on their wishlists for 6 years or whatever that they've given up hoping for. There are a lot of really great suggestions on this thread.
Some of my favorites from the past couple of years, if it helps give a general idea - [item2=antique tv] [item2=rainbow crow] [item2=Haunted Bookshelf] [item2=artistic paint] [item2=spring dillema plushie]
Stuff that pops up in a restock and you go OMG I NEED THAT FOR PET SO-AND-SO'S TC AND I NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE IT YAY!
Also I would really, really love to see a return of [item2=Starguardian]
^This precious baby was one of the first special things I bought when I joined Subeta. I like it so much that I had my very first forumset AND my original icon designed based on it (whoa throwback remember when we had custom icons on the forums instead of HAs?). It's in Buzzi's TC now but I would really like to see that re-released so I can have an army another one.
(also I need ~4 more Fables for my account so if you could put those guys back too that would be great!)
aaaaaaaand is there any hope for the BHH Trading Card? :(
...all this thread has done is made me want things I can't have ;-(
Things I want that may have been mentioned but I'm not sure (I just went through things I need for my gallery!):
There were 10 Elegant Skull Ribbons released for the Morostide 2010 costume contest. If plot prizes are getting a look in, I think this deserves one too. :)
Also nooooo at the Box of Magical Misfits. I've been trying to sell mine since I won it, hah.
definitely no to the box of magical misfits, all the plushies inside of it are easily attainable. The item itself should be able to maintain a value more than the combination of the plushies and the plushies should maintain a value of 30-50m at least :/
Ok well after reading this thread I'm just gonna come out and say this:
I know there's a few on site but they had them in the crystal shop and I missed my chance the last time they were added. And since they are tied into an achievement, putting a few more out there can't hurt... right?
