It would definitely be a good idea to allow users to disable gifs, at least. They take forever to load and some kinds can cause health issues in some people.

while i support your suggestion, for the time being, at least, get yourself AdBlockPlus if you use FF or AdBlock if you use Chrome. These will allow you to block any images you want to no longer want to see. This should help until Staff puts a disabler in; if they do.
