I just tried this out and have an answer ^_^ whatever pet is your active pet will get turned into the nostalgic pet. NO MATTER the species it is, it will turn into whatever the toy is if you have a existing pet with a name you want your nostalgic to be you can use it on that one as long as it’s your active pet.
