What kind of game, like what is the genre? so I could look up more games based on the same format.Searching "Browser games" gives me like flash and java games, searching "virtual pets" is close but it doesn't have to be a pet game.I guess what I'm looking for is a casual adventure game where I don't have to download anything. Something where you can explore and collect. Suggestions welcome.

I really don't know, but I think virtual pet or avatar-based community maybe? I know Neopets and Gaia Online are similar, I personally saw this website as a functional fusion of the two.

Subeta technically counts as a virtual pet game, but there is a heavy focus on your human avatar. Outside of having custom overlays all pets within the same species and color will be identical, while everybody focuses on unique human avatars. If you're looking for some variety where the opposite is true you might enjoy Khimeros(.com).

Khimeros is a virtual pet /breeding/ site. There is a human avatar, but the focus on it is beyond bare minimum at best since you can only see it if you actually go to your profile. The main focus is to breed khimeras and take genetics into account. Having the same two khimeras breed together multiple times will naturally produce varied offspring, depending on what genes the parents have. I think you can hold up to something like 300 khimeras in your lair (you can divide them into groups for easier sorting). Khimeras you don't want are then either sold or just released into the void, never to be seen again. The convenient thing about the khimeros search system is that it is based on ID numbers rather than names so you never have to worry about pesky "somebody else already has that name!" error. You can change the names of your khimeras at any given time, or leave them nameless.

There isn't much adventuring to be done but collecting, breeding, and otherwise hoarding them is very addicting.

There is a website called paladore(.com) which has a human avatar type base and you can collect/battle pets similar to pokemon. You do the battling and collecting through an action game as well :)

I agree that Khimeros is somewhat comparable, but you're going to have a much smaller community. It just depends what aspects of this site you like. Neopets honestly isn't that far off since you can customize your pets like avatars. But the community is for children so you have to be in the right mindset. Gaia might work for you.

And Masquerade's right around the corner which, while I'm excited for it, always breaks the site even more.
