So if I try understand this, speed scales like the DPI and BPI square root formulas, and it will have a diminishing return. So we can take an extreme reference point like 10k speed to determine when weapon effect activation scales well but won't be OP. (And in contrast, I hope such a build won't be suicidal lol)

For critical hits though, I believe the critical hit chance has to have some upper bound (say 25 to 50 percent max) because the speed difference can quickly become too far apart and one side will be critting the other almost every turn.

Yeah it'd have to be tweaked to make sure it stays reasonable. I'm not sure exactly what those numbers would be though :P.

That's what was originally pitched to link curse/blessing/freezing/stealing/crit to speed...... The linking of spells to speed I was talking about was if by some miracle we got more coding from them then expected. Instead they linked it on a handful of weapons. They didn't go all the way before, maybe they will go back and revamp all over again now. Not holding my breath on that but hey, great if they do.

because if you beat baenwurath 5x you're going to get crit the same as my pet with 16 speed. Moreover if you had 5k extra defense instead of speed, you would block more damage regularly AND more consistently prevent crits against any opponent except those who would easily one hit ko you anyhow. That's just how it works in the coding, there's no argument against it. If there was no cap, speed would be great (I <3 the cap). But right now the only use it has after a point is the little bit of extra blessings and other neat stuff from a small portion of weapons that in no way justify training it (yet my next 2 builds are going to be super soeedy :P).

But you would only have to hold your breath shortlyâ„¢, surely you could manage o.O

But seriously, they were willing to go back on all full blocking weapons and fix them, I think they would for speed as well, if they were going to be in the business of making it useful.
