I asked my Mum, and the best she could think of was to have a photo on one side, and the writing on the opposite page.... which isn't quite what I'm aiming for ;)

yeah the smaller books can be tricky because there's really not much room to do what you want. the best advice I can give is smaller photos in some pages. Like 3 on one side, and one large one on the other. Or one page to be a journal and the other side the picture trimmed down so you can add some embellishments. like some of these I yanked from the internet see how this one picture is the star of the page?

I hate to say it, because I know you wanted mini, but I think the size is too small for what you want to achieve. Nigel's scrapbook was almost impossible to do. Unless you want super teeny pictures. I need to get some pictures printed so I can do some scrapbooking

yeah, I hadn't thought of the pages being slightly smaller than the cover (and of course the dimensions given are for the cover :K), so it's slightly smaller than I'd first thought :K I should be able to cut down some of the pics (especially the ones that are a bit blurry where the light was a bit dim for my camera to handle - if they're small enough, the blurring should disappear), but there's some that would really work best to be a bit bigger....

I've had no luck finding any embellishments or papers that would work with the theme (so far), but it definitely needs a little something other than just the pic and some writing....

try vintage lines, steampunk is HUGE right now, so you'll easily find gears, and vintage stuff to give it a modern/victorian look. that's why I showed you the pages I did, has the elements without going too far off the path. Hot air balloons, luggage, those should look perfect with the idea

makes a note of that for some random reason, I didn't think of searching steampunk (which is daft of me, considering we have steamwork on here!) 😊
