I haven't been this excited over something in a long time so I wanted to share. :D I hope ya'll don't mind the ping! :x

I'm going to be in a local radio play production!

A small local theater here doubles as the county's cultural center so they hold classes and workshops over the summer. My mum found an Old Time Radio class in the pamphlet and brought it home for me so I would have the registration number. While I did misunderstand the little description in the book - thinking it was just a class - I am still as excited as I was when I first read about it. I am equally as terrified now. I don't do this sort of thing in front of anyone but family. (My very first friend from school and I have known each other since 1996 and she's still never even heard me sing!) I'm also the youngest in the group. The next youngest looks to be at least 10 years my senior!

Right now the director is favoring Suspense: Always Room at the Top and Mr. Ace and Jane: Jury Duty. We did the first read-throughs last night and they went really well. I voiced Helen Brandt during the Suspense read through and, after a little direction from the group and director, everyone seemed to think I did exceptionally well for never having done anything like this before. Mr. Ace and Jane was neat to do, but not really the sort of show I'd get into. We've also got the scripts for an episode of Big Town called Pittsburgh Lil and an episode of The Thin Man called The Goofy Groom. We went through Big Town last night too, but the director wasn't too impressed with it. The Thin Man is being saved for emergency purposes only because of a lack of roles.

Casting won't be set for at least another week, 2 at the most, but everyone will be getting some sort of role since the group is so small. I won't lie...I'd love to be cast as Helen. Her role was fun, but then Suspense is a radio show I would listen to on my own anyway. ;) (Probably will once my preferred OTR site has everything back up. :c The owner of the site seems to have an enemy somewhere. It keeps getting hacked. ;.; )

Class/rehearsals are every Tuesday and our show is June 2. Not a lot of time but the shows the director picked are pretty short compared to some I've listened to. Everyone else in the group have been there for a long time. I hope I can measure up. As soon as the castings are set for sure I'll let everyone know! :D
