If he were suffering from depression, I wouldn't say anything at all but that aint it, not this time. This isn't the first time he's pulled the woe is me crap and every time it's after he goes to see his old buddies. He's not depressed, he's hung over. When I was younger us girls could drink as well as the rest of the guys, but since I quit years ago I don't think he realized we did it too and we know the difference. But he'll know it soon enough if he doesn't help that boy. As in tomorrow.
