/looks around hopelessly/
THIS is what you're all complaining about? Give me a break.
Personally I've never come across a shop name that offended me in two years of playing...idk maybe I just don't get offended easily. Personally though, I love my vagina and it was one of the first shops I saw on subeta and I thought it was brilliant because I came from neopets where you literally can't say anything! I hope they don't make it a banned word - Like said - We all came from a vagina so what is there to be offended about in this name?? o.O
Accessing Subeta from work can get you in trouble for a lot more reasons than a shop name. I play mostly from work 'cause I work the graveyard shift alone, and it's the only way to stay awake sometimes, but I have to be careful which computers the surveillance cameras can see.
That being said.... The shop names in the search drop-down are too tiny to be a serious issue. Be careful what you click (As always when on the internet), and don't buy from shops that offend you for whatever reason, is my best advice.
Poor , It boggles me that your shop is always the first one that people jump on when a subject like this is brought up. There are other anatomically named shops out there..., but everyone likes to talk about MY Vagina. (Sorry, couldn't help myself..., thumps self for overly obvious joke)
Since everyone is so flipping bent out of shape over the stupid vagina shop, I'll have to repeat myself again, there are other shops here that I am talking about so take a chill pill.
I'm not personally attacking anyone here. Just trying to talk with someone who has similar inquiries as I do. You don't find anything on this site offensive? Good for you move on.
Offended...not all of these shops are "offensive" they are just simply put gross, or rude and for all the continued posts, it's not THE FUCKING VAGINA SHOP! JESUS!
I've actually been submitting ideas to help put together a user guide so I've seen that her shop is titled as such.
I like that idea, I don't have a problem with anyone personally I just don't care to see some of the "titles." I think that would be fair enough.
A simple suggestion/question turned into a bunch of people going nuts over a vagina shop.
Read that again.
Go Bills!
if it's way outside the bounds of reasonable (racist/super profane/etc) then report it. I seriously hope we never get any kind of shop name filter tho. it's not the site's responsibility to censor things that people find personally offensive/gross/whatever.
that made me laugh, thank you for the chuckle.
I find the play on words in the shop names funny and although it "might" be a bit inappropriate it's just a shop name, just take what you need and move on ;)
I'm not saying it would have to be universal, I mean something where the USER could chose to block what they want on their own for their account.
I'm not sure about the others but that's my idea.
Read that again.
Go Bills!
Whenever I need something I always look in My Vagina and it's there. Thank you for being open :)
I think I have to take the blame for mentioning "My Vagina" earlier in the thread -- it wasn't meant to imply that "My Vagina" was the shop the OP had a problem with; I just think it's funny as hell and bring it up whenever talk about shop names comes around.
Well, I don't see the word Vagina as being too much of an issue, but (as some have posted above) people have since used this word for it to deliberately sound offensive. Move on, guys. Enough with the sexual crude humor. The OP has made a post, and didn't name the shop, but then all of a sudden, you get people jumping on the bandwagon and trying to make a serious topic into a joke, probably in the hopes that her post will become locked, and her concerns not taken seriously. I see this all the time, where you have people taking the mick. -_-
That would be a nice option. User's choice.
Just avoid shop names that harass or target specific individuals or groups of people.
Oh wow, still that shop again? The funniest thing about it, is that once it's brought up pubicly, it just draws more attention xD I see at least two other shops inspired by it since the previous time something about it was posted.
I submitted a ticket, the person assigned to it said the matter would be looked into and the ticket was closed. The shop name has not been changed, so whatever rules might be in place about shop names clearly don't cover it. So whatever. It probably offends some people but unless something is really over the line, it looks like staff isn't going to ask users to change their shop names.
As per usual, using a browser extension is probably the best solution for cases like this. Word Replacer appears to be very effective if you're using Chrome (no idea about add-ons for other browsers).
That said, throughout this whole tread it was difficult to tell if the original shop name in question was actually fully out on line, or was simply distasteful on an individual level. Threads like this never go well.
I was asking partly in general, because I couldn't find anything on the site about it, and the shop in question was kind of on the line (not profanity but I can see how it would offend some people). That was all. I wasn't trying to start anything bashing anyone or getting bashed :p
See what I mean? Ridiculous, that's what it is! And all that with shop block, user choice, etc, I'm all for it, can't wait to not see the obnoxious shops again.
Was about to mention this myself c: I see lots of boards similar to this about various shops, but so far I don't think people are technically breaking the rules so not much can be done about it without causing an uproar. In any case, pretty much all browsers have add-ons/extensions for just about anything, and word blockers are no different. You don't really have to be all that tech savy to use them either, as most extensions that I've seen are pretty straightforward. Happy subeta-ing c:

+1 to you Momo! Thank you for saying that!
We're doing that, but it would be nicer to just decide to "block it" that way we didn't have to even worry about skipping it or if we're in a time crunch for questing "accidentally" click it and patronize the shop.
I think for the people actually trying to discus the matter, we didn't want to "call anyone out" by posting it or start some sort of fight either that's at least why I was being vague. Then of course things were implied...but either way I don't want to share with everyone the shops that bother me.
That worked well for us eh? smh
Yup, gotta love the internet and forum capabilities. :p
How safe are these "add-ons?" I don't know that I'd be comfortable installing something that I don't know much about or haven't heard of.
Read that again.
Go Bills!
Shhh didn't you see the OP say that if you don't agree you should move on? Nobody is allowed to disagree.
If you're determined to block harmless words because they've somehow offended you then there are tons of browser extensions that'll let you censor words, as has already been mentioned. Whatever browser you're using, I'm sure there's a place to go to get extensions and you can just search there if you're not comfortable going to a third-party website. Almost all extensions you install from a browser's shop are safe because they're reviewed all the time by many different people. If you say what browser you're using people might be able to recommend something specific.
Shop names are governed by a broader set of content rules found in the rule center -- stuff like "do not evade the filters," "do not promote hate speech," etc. As for content which you may find personally objectionable but is not in violation of any specific rules, that is not content that we police, and you are responsible for any content censoring beyond what we offer and enforce. It would be grossly unfair to punish somebody who's not breaking any rules simply because an individual has a personal problem with it, whether it is a matter of workplace restrictions or simply an issue of what one finds tasteful/distasteful. With that said, please do not hesitate to report a shop name that is clearly in violation of the rules. "My Vagina," for instance, is fine, but a shop containing an explicit epithet for that same body party would not be, and should be brought to the attention of the staff so that it can be dealt with promptly.
If you would like some help finding good browser extensions, might I recommend that you inquire in the Internet forum? Someone there may have specific recommendations that you find helpful.
