I'm sure you weren't as bad as you think :) I had an absolutely horrid interview a few months back for a really great job that I wanted badly. I was so nervous and spent the week practicing with my mom for it (she is a great interviewer with awesome advice!) and when the time came I was just a mess. I stuttered, I paused, I said ridiculous things, I contradicted myself at least once, and my mind went completely blank several times. I got so nervous at one point I laughed and asked for a few seconds to compose myself.
A week later I got a call back for a second interview! I was absolutely shocked lol! I did not end up getting the job, they gave it to someone with more experience, but the point was I still got called back! :)
I hope you get a call for another interview!
Man that sucks. I have a hard enough time talking to random people on the street and I've just started looking into interviews for a nicer job so I know I'll suck in the beginning. But you just have to take the failures as added experience and what not to do in the future. Plus it probably wasn't as bad as you think :)
Thank you! I hope so too :'D
Thank you. I know I should be a little more confident but I'm really hard on myself. I should get better as I go through more, I think. hopes for more because school D:
No kidding! It was for a retail position with a mobile phone provider. Maybe that kind of smooth talking is what they look for hahaha ... Oh man, that's totally what they look for.
Aw poo! I feel for ya. At least you were able to laugh it off. I admire that ability!
Good luck to ya! I think that an interview can be a hit or miss depending on the interviewer. I've had interviews with employers that weren't very responsive and didn't really interact with me. It might as well have been my webcam interview where I wasn't even talking to anyone, haha.
Oddly enough, my bad webcam interview somehow got me a call-back. I'm not sure what they were assessing me on, but it definitely wasn't my confidence or my communication abilities lol.
Let me tell you the story of my "best" job interview I've ever had:
A few years ago I had a job interview in a well known jewelry store and well, I was excited. Got there, a bunch of girls were already standing outside...then I got called in. I've expected everything but not THIS: a fat, greasy guy welcoming me, he looked like he escaped from some cheap porn movie. Then he proceeded to look at me from bottom to top, slowly. Oh god I felt so dirty just at his looks. Then he yelled at me why I even bothered to come here, being a little skinny girl who couldn't possibly reach over the counter of this shop.
Uhhhh, needless to say I left without saying a word. nopenopenope
So, just remember this when you think you've screwed up a job interview :v
The last interview I bombed was Gamestop. >> And it was hilariously bombed, at that.
I was doing great-- knew the history, knew games, knew consoles, but before we finished, the manager was like, "Well, I don't know if you're nerdy enough for the position."
Then he was like, "Be honest, what would you like to be doing right now?" And I was like, "Well, sir, I would LOVE to be playing some Pathfinder."
Him: "Like Dungeons and Dragons? Huh. I've never played that before." Me: "Well, I don't know if you're nerdy enough for it. :)"
Yes. I am sassy. :D But I'm also confident and won't take shit.
