Neat! My boyfriend is in IT, so it's kind of similar! He's taken a few programming classes.

HA. No you don't! Working full time stinks! I work two jobs and still hardly have enough money to pay bills!

Yay for promotions :) That's good news on all fronts. Are you enjoying doing both now?

That one's good for sp and easy :) I need to work on my game achievements. But after doing all the quests, I just get a little lazy :P

BTW - does anyone know if the cumulative cards achievement for caliphs tomb is broken? Mine says 0, though I'm done WAY more than that...

It's obviously not my first choice to work two jobs, but until my promotion at the spa kicks in it's fine!

EDIT: Yep! It's broken. I sent a ticket a while ago about it!

That's cool. All of the people I know in school right now are all going into Engineering or Computer science, so I kinda know what I'm getting into. I've always loved coding too, like profiles and things, so I have a small bit of background into it. I'm hoping I'll like it though, because if I don't then I don't know what else I'll try to get a degree in...

Agh, that sucks. I work one part-time job now and I barely have enough money saved up for my tuition after my car payments. Although I don't have to pay bills and such yet. It still sucks, though. ;c

I just love the game, I hardly ever do it for sP. xD I received the achievement a while ago, but maybe it broke after that? It's possible if they've been adding in new achievements and such.

You don't HAVE to know what you want to do! I hated the pressure of everyone asking me what I wanted to be. I have a degree in Biology and French and I actually work at a hair salon & spa and also a makeup store.. sooooo.. yeah. xP

Where's your part time job?

I know, but after going to Community college for three years, you would expect me to at least have some remote idea. xD My perfect life is a lovely at my side and enough money to have a house and a dog or two, while keeping my obsession for video games and collections alive.

I work at Coldstone Creamery right now. xD

So you're sticking with both, despite moving up at the spa?

Good to know it's not just me. Sometimes you have to check certain pages or things like that.

Haha, sounds about right - everyone IS doing those fields. Both my brothers are doing computer-y type majors, too. I wonder though, if they're getting into an over-saturated field. Getting a job is HARD these days, especially without experience.

Mmmm COLDSTONE. I haven't been to one of those in forever!

I don't actually move up at the spa until the end of April when my manager goes on mat leave. So until then, I'm just shadowing and training, but my hours stay the same!

With the way the market is moving, I don't think it will ever be saturated. People will always need engineers and programmers with our day and age. Everything is done with computers now, so anything with computers/engineering/medical will always be in demand.

Yeah, I've been working there for almost three years and I can never get tired of the ice cream!

I would think you would get sick of it, haha! Do you make the icecream or do cash or what?

All of it. I'm a shift leader, so it really depends on what I'm scheduled for that day. If I open, I make sure the cash from the night before is correct, as well as make the ice cream and any cakes that need to be done. If I close, I do the cash at the end of the night and make sure everything is nice and clean. It's a pretty easy job, and I get tips and everything. We're also one of the busiest stores, and I live in Arizona so we always have a lot of traffic.

Oh cool! So you're a higher up ;) I can imagine that Arizona would have a ton of traffic xP How warm is it today?

I didn't know you did biology and french as your majors! You really went for a change, didn't you? I was an English and communications major who ended up in professional writing. I stuck to a pretty narrow path, haha.

That's also true. There will always be an element of demand for skilled computer workers - particularly programmers and engineers, as those are fields that you can't just walk straight into without high level training. IT on the other hand... I think that's a bit less intensive. It seems like one of those jobs all my friends who didn't know what they wanted to do ended up in... that or banking, ha. I can't even imagine working at a bank shudder

Yeah! Huge change! Sitting in a cubicle just wasn't for me. I admire people who can do it all day!

Ha, right now my phone says 75. Our winter, the coldest it was was about 50 something, and that was really early in the morning. We're going to be in for one hot summer though.

I think IT is pretty important too. There are a lot of people now-a-days that don't really know the first thing about computers and such. Do IT people deal with security threats as well?

When I was in high school, I really wanted to work in a bank! I went through an accounting fix for a while. I really loved to crunch the numbers even when I wasn't good with math (yet I'm a Computer Science major! I'm crazy...), but the stress that accounting can have on you is horrible! If you make one small little mistake, you could cost a company a whole lot of money, and you might even get thrown in jail if it's bad enough! I totally respect people that work in banks and just business in general!

See, I always wanted to work at a desk. The idea of wearing suits and dresses to work appealed to me, and going on business meetings and taking important phone calls, ha. Funnily enough, I work in a super casual office where I wear jeans to work half the time. The only thing that's a no-go is workout gear and PJs... though when I work from home, guess what I wear all day? 0:)

BUT you did bio! You could have done all kinds of doctor-y or lab type jobs. Those sound a little more interesting than desk work. I get it won't be like TV makes it out to be, but it's something.

Of course there will always be a lot of people who don't know what they need to about technology :) But there are also a lot of people learning certain skills, too. For some jobs, however necessary they are, the supply of workers outweighs demand. These days it's a lot harder to be that entry level person than many people realize. Finding a job is rough, even for the smart and qualified.

I dislike doing math and calculations, too :P I work with search engine data a lot, but that's one element of my job I need to do in small doses. I just can't handle a whole day of thinking about numbers. I'm the black sheep in a computer science family. Both my brothers and my dad do computer stuff. I learned basic coding at a young age growing up with the Internet, but that's the extent of it for me :P

EDIT: Wow. Wall of text alert. I toldya'll I could talk ;)

I do love office clothes! I kind of miss that about not working at an office anymore though. I wish I could have worn jeans to mine! We were pretty formal.

Doctors, no thanks. Too gory! Unless you get a masters, you're stuck working in a lab for someone :(
