Ahhh I love the sort of wine-colored Cherry pets. The Tigrean and Cadogre as such a pretty shade. ;o;

AND SILVER JUST TAKE MY HEART.

It's nice to see some colorfill colors, I'll look forward to seeing them (and nuclear...) all finished up! I feel like I'm the only one who's not a fan of the silver color. But I really like the cherry color, it's just what I needed for one of my characters.

silver is fine; a little boring, imo, but it's a color we've needed for a while, so i'm not complaining!

but cherry. oh my god CHERRY. that deep, dark red, those luscious greens, my god what a beautiful color.

I was going to skim this thread, but then I thought it better to give my unadulterated feedback instead, and then I'll go back and read and edit if necessary.

When I first saw the news release, I thought the silver pets were brilliant in their simplicity. How wasn't there a silver to complement gold?

I personally would have gone with a more shimmery/metallic looking palette since right now they only seem related in name, and especially without that metallic characteristic setting it apart, it seems a little repetitive of arid with notes of twilight and storm. I see the highlights are still there from gold pets, which makes me think it is the warmer shades of gray chosen. But the idea is very smart, and I personally would love to see copper/rose gold to round out the set.

Paired with the release of cherry pets, it seems apparent to me that the intention here was to have a Christmas color and a Hanukkah color (which opens its own special can of worms that I won't stick my head into), and so then I wonder why the palette didn't include blue, since Christmas got its full representation in cherry's palette.

Silver was likely a very tricky color to develop considering what already exists on Subeta. I would have done it differently, but all things considered I am happy to see it. I think it is a solid color fill and it will suit a lot of users' pets.

But cherry… Oh, Subeta… Where do I even start? My thought process went something like this:

Quote

Oh, hey, red and green pets. That&;s appropriate for Christmas. Not my favorite colors, but I&;m not surprised. It will be hard to keep it original with sun and reborn though. And that palette could have used a little more contrast. A few of these pets look filtered rather than color filled.

But really? Cherry?! What is this, Neopets where we have fruit-flavored Chias? Why not "holly" or "poinsettia" instead… The only one that looks remotely cherry is the warador. I don&;t get it. Cherries aren&;t even related to the holidays, unless fruitcake counts.

Actually, these remind me of the standard red pets on Neopets. Like, that same value of red.

NO. WAIT. OH MY GOD.

I can feel you emoting already. No, no, no, stop. Don't keep scrolling and move on to the next post or topic.

Really!

Hear me out. I am not in any way saying that Subeta has copied Neopets' strawberry pets. What I am saying is that this color has been very unfortunately timed and executed.

Recently, Subeta has already come under a lot of heat for taking too much inspiration from other sources, and just now a red and green color fill pet named after a fruit (which is exactly something that Neopets has, and we have only been called a tryhard clone of them for a decade now) was just a Grade A Bad Idea. Surely there are enough members of Subeta staff still playing Neopets who could have pointed this out?! I don't even play, and it only took me about 20 minutes to come to this conclusion.

Subeta, you don't deserve the reputation of being concept thieves and copycats and lazy artists. You really don't. There are far too many people in your employ who are extremely creative, original, and certainly not dry for ideas. So why you chose to go with this, I don't know, but I really hope you didn't just shoot yourselves in the foot. I don't know, with the warador being the only one with actual cherry inspiration, I would honestly consider altering that one and changing the name at the very least. Not because cherry doesn't fit, but because it doesn't fit, and it parallels Neo.

I like the cherry Tigrean and Noktoa, but overall I'm not a huge fan of the color. Then again, red is one of my least favorite colors. The wine color is nice, though, but I probably won't have a cherry pet in the foreseeable future. I do really like Silver, though.

This has kind of been nagging at me since the release. I do like it, but the "neopets did it first" trope keeps coming back to mind. It really does remind me of their strawberry color.

I think it might have been neat to use a shade of brown as the accent color instead. I always thought cherries had darker stems (but google is telling me I'm wrong, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.)

I think it looks cool that way, but maybe it's just me. I like brown. :x

Or maybe even darker?

The brown and red together really don't appeal to me, sorry. It looks like bruised fruit, especially on the Mahar. It's...not a color combo I like, and I think green on red is superior to brown on red, sorry!

I would probably not own a cherry pet as they are, but I wouldn't even consider them with brown accents. Even since another name, all I can think is overly ripe fruit that starts to be too soft and gross.

Oh my god it looks SOOO MUCH BETTER BROWN. (And my cherry tree has brown stems, you're not wrong).

that is EXACTLY what I thought when I saw them. Of the ugly ass strawberry pets on neopets. And those christmas paintbrushes that they gave away that were double ugly.

The "neopets did it first" thing is such bs Yes because red and green color scheme is soooo original. The Cherry color is great and overdue. Do I think it would look better with a brown color thrown in with the red and green? You betcha. But seriously people, stop comparing everything to neopets.

Also to the people complaining that Cherry is not a "holiday" thing, it's just a colorfill that staff decided to release during a holiday as a gift. It's not supposed to be a holiday color.

, please don't mistake my post. I don't have a problem that Neopets did it first. I don't have a problem with the palettes being similar. No one owns red + green. No one even owns that shade of red when I compared the bumbus to the Gelert.

But palette similarities + static pose + fruit name?

If the site already suffers a reputation for being unoriginal (specifically for being a knock-off of Neopets), why add that fuel to the fire?

No no I wasn't referring to your post in particular :P That argument just always comes up with (almost) every new color and I get so sick of seeing it since it's such a poor argument lmao The talk of Subeta being 'uncreative' seriously bums me out :c

Absolutely love these both. I am going to wait a little bit before changing any pets, but I have a feeling I have at least one pet that will be cherry, and possibly two pets to be silver... I love that monotone color. It is like a toned down twilight, and I love it. <3

I love almost all pets in the cherry color. Oh my, thanks! - Red matches wonderfully with green, is something perfect to me. I don't mind as well silver, it seems so cold... But is a great art by the way.

thanks a lot for the list!! -

I rather like the cherry color. Red and green are complimentary colors, so I really don't see why people are whining about that. Also, the colors used are two tones of red, pink, green, and brown (in that order, and two of the pets also have white/silver accents). Had brown been more dominant I think it would look far too murky (I mean two tones of brown instead of a green and occasional brown). I am so gosh damned happy they went with cherry instead of poinsettia or holly. Red/green is far too associated with Christmas. It's not a strictly-Christmas thing. Stop it.

I am a little eh on some of the silver. While they all look nice (especially that Tigrean !), a good portion of them simply look gray to me. Though, being completely honest here the gold pets simply look like shiny yellow instead of gold to me (it's mostly the shading color choices not having a brown tone). Some simply need more contrast to give that shiny coat extra oomph.

I flippin' love both Tigrean's and Noktoa's, and the cherry Neela is simply stunning (I loooove how the green fades to brown !).

I'll admit, I was a little bit disappointed at first that most of the pets didn't really seem to have anything to do with actual cherries, since fruit-themed pets would be so hecking adorable. I still love Cherry to pieces though! Dem shades of red and those gorgeous green accents hhhhhhh

And Silver was a nice surprise. Never thought about the fact that we had Gold with no Silver, but I like it! when do we get crystal

I really like the red coloring on them. I was hoping for something more food themed... oh well. I don't care for the silver, as the pets look so plain.

Then, maybe we should look at the issue with both colors, instead of just cherry, because Neopets sure has a silver color as well. Why is Silver acceptable when it has the same name and color scheme as Neopets Silver when Cherry is not? To me, either both are problematic, or neither are, because Neopets does have similar colors in both cases.

Silver is also a color? So is Cherry, which is used as a term for dark red.

Also, I haven't seen anything about Subeta being unoriginal or being compared to Neopets in that way. In like, ages.

I'm glad they went with a nice rich red instead of a bright, flat, primary red (like the Neopets). I'm in full support of the color scheme and the name because I freaking love cherries. Though I admit it does seem weird for a "holiday" name because cherries are an expensive summer fruit. But hell, who said it was a holiday color. The red and green pair aren't exclusive to Christmas or even to cherries. Also it's a color fill. The actual pets aren't supposed to have cherries in them. Lilac pets don't have little flowers. Field pets don't have grass. Dusk and Dawn pets don't have suns and stars. Except for the Warador at least.

As for the Neopets, I played for about ten years and then on and off. The comparison never came to mind. It doesn't even look like the same shades of red. Honestly all the comparison proves to me is that Neopets hasn't bothered to improve on their art. In fact looking at a comparison of the red Yurble and the old red Yurble that still had it's circle background, it seems to have gotten worse. Look at this poor guy!

As for the silver. It looks great. I was expecting it to be shinier though.
