I'm for this if it'll curtail rule-breaking, and drama I guess which goes hand-in-hand sometimes.
Honestly, if you quit it should be permanent. As in, Bob is gone and will never be back - account will now get cleared and/or people can take your UN and pet names. Bye.nnIf you go on hiatus just stop logging in until you're back.
This is unlikely to happen, to be honest. I don't really want to get into policing this sort of thing (and especially don't want to make UAs handle tickets regarding this. That used to be the case, to get unfrozen you had to wait on a ticket and that was annoying for everyone involved).
Scamming is against the rules, if someone self freezes when they've gotten tangled up in CWs in some way, you should make a ticket.

I don't feel this should be implemented. To echo what Keith said, if someone self freezes just to get out of some business thing after collecting payment, that's scamming. Scamming is scamming, the point is moot. Report that shiz.
As for the attention-seekers, out of the what, several thousand users on this site, there are maybe a handful that do this? 5 or 6 people? Why punish the random, quiet user that just wants to freeze during exam week to concentrate on studying, then come right back?
I've personally self frozen more than once in the past and it really is not anyone's business. I don't know why anyone would care, just go mind your own stuff. If someone is using it to abuse a rule though, that's another story and they should be sanctionned accordingly, as everyone is.
Other than that, stay out of my lawn, I'll stay out of yours? Why do you care, go away, this is my account, and you have no say over what happens to it and how long I'm supposed to do X or Y for.
