You can also spend less and get the same.

Situation : You're craving that one wearable that costs 500 csc, which is 18 millions usually. But now, ohmahgad, the price escalated to 21 million ! What am I gonna do?

-few days later- Oh wow, what is this sale ? The item now costs 250 csc, which is, by those crazy insane prices, 10,5 million sP! What a saving, I'm glad I had to pay more than usual for that 250 csc card.

PS: I know what y'all are thinking.. and it's true ! I do get paid in CSC to make those posts to promote the cash shop! But what can I do.. washing the dishes sucks.

If people refused to pay the inflated prices, then the prices would drop.

It sucks for anyone who wasn't aware or forgot about the sale, but there's really no reason for csc not to increase right now before black friday. You got explicit info about this being the last sale for pet slots, etc. and who knows what (if any) old stuff is brought back or what new stuff will be released.

I don't know what you would expect staff to do. Putting more CSC out for free cuts into their profits, which is just a terrible business decision. CSC isn't something staff monitors the prices of, so if it goes way up before a massive sale (which it's bound to), that's not really their problem. If you don't like it, don't buy it and miss out (but like others have said, you're still saving money even paying the increased prices if you wait for the sale)

The price of CSC isn't even a staff set thing, it's a userbase set price. 500 CSC is and always will be $5. Once upon a time 500 CSC sold for about 5-6 mil, it's the userbase that changed the cost as sP accumulated in the system/the real world economy got worse. In this specific case I don't think it's staff's responsibility to make it less, since from their end it's always been the same price.

the price of csc is always going to go up long term (unless we suddenly have hundreds or thousands of new, active users joining daily, which I would love but isn't going to happen anytime soon)

There is a pretty steady amount of active users on the site, making a lot more sP on the site everday through quests and games and all the various things that generate pure sP. The amount that comes in is far greater than what goes out. Anyone can check the About Subeta page and see the total sP on site and the average sP per user at any time of any day, you'll see its always increasing. This obviously causes inflation, and because csc is always sold at 500(+bonus's and whatnot)/$5 irl cash and because csc is pretty highly desirable it's going to feel a pretty big percentage of that inflation. This is actually a really good thing because not only does it mean the subetan economy is growing, it also means that buying csc with irl $$$ is highly desirable to those who can afford it, which means the site stays up and running. Stop complaining and just go earn more sP or better yet buy it with irl moneys! Higher csc prices aren't anyone's problem.

People keep saying prices will go back to normal after the sale. Last year they dropped somewhat, but never did drop back to the pre-BFS price. I would expect the same this year. I strongly suspect higher prices are here to stay. How high they stay is all that remains to be seen.

After pondering, I have to agree with you. Mainly because I spend a lot of time stalking the pawn shop and more and more people are starting to use it. A LOT. When people use the pawn shop, that csc is leaving the system. Less csc = higher prices on top of the already high demand because of the holidays. At this point, I don't really see prices dropping "back to normal" and the new norm will be 4m/100 which is unfortunate.

I remember when I joined almost 3 years ago I sold my first 500 csc card for 17.5m sp.

The prices of CSC are scary expensive which is why I'm very, very glad I have saved some CSC to be prepared for the Sale (I hope it's enough for all the things I want).

CSC has been going up over the course of... I'd wager a month or two now? It's 22m for 500 credits now and, as far as I can remember, it has never been more expensive.

I don't think the Black Friday sale has much to do with it. If anything, I'd expect more people to buy it for real money because of the sale and then sell CSC for an sP profit since it's astronomically high right now.

Psh, when I first started a month if gold (medals didn't exist yet) was about 75k, and I remember I bought a MP (or two) for something like 2 million because special posed potions quite literally didn't exist within the system xD!

That was 9 years ago, though, and a lots changed since then. Like the sheer amount of things one can use csc for, and the fact that csc even exists (you used to have to find a person willing to buy the items and sell them to you). The prices will of course always inflate because there's only x amount if people buying it with real monies and y amount if people who either can't or refuse to buy it with real money. The price won't drop because: 1. it's useful and 2. if it's not worth it, I won't sell it? I'll just keep it and use it myself?

It's also not a great idea for staff to put a solud price on csc, at least for the purchasing csc with sp crowd. The easiest way for staff to do that is put a direct "CSC to sP" option in the cash shop, allowing me to basically directly exchange my csc-- ie: removing it from the system. Ie: it won't get sold to another user. Meaning users would still have to offer more than the site would give me, otherwise I'd just cash it in. They couldn't put an "sP to CSC" option because that's $5 out of the sites pocket everytime it's used.

Unless people couldn't buy csc unless users cashed it in but then what's to stop one user from buying all of it as soon as it hits the converter then turning around and selling it to other users for more?

Tl;dr the price is high because BF in general + last BF for half priced slots. The prices will go back down once the sale is over because there won't be an extreme demand for it right-now-this-week-only.

You actually brought a scary thought to my mind. I used to be an extremely active user on gaiaonline back in high school, got pretty rich and got together a really cool HA. I recently logged back on just to look around for the first time in forever, and I saw that my items in my inentory were worth billions! I went onto the forums to OMG about it, and was quickly told that you have to be a billionaire if you want to afford anything anymore, but games and random events still give out comparatively meager "sp-equivalent" rewards of a few hundred or thousand. My HA is worth an insane amount of currency, and I have about 3k in my bank. Yikes. It got to the point where you have to spend real money on the site to be able to do anything at all, and that's sad. From reading the previous posts, it seems sp costs are rising with no sign of evening out or regressing.... that....worries me about the future.

You aren't the first user to express that concern and I see some people debating whether to spend any time or cash here at all anymore since they are getting that "pay-or-play" feeling and it turns them off. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not saying there is anything wrong with buying or using CSC -- I buy/use it myself. It's just that I am one of those who worry that the CSC fixation may ultimately hurt Subeta in the long run.

I am probably alone in this, but I have spent less than half of what I did last year. There simply isn't as much for sale, and what is on sale is frequently not as good of a deal as it was last year. Makes me glad I got what I did when I did. There are still some great deals -- like the account upgrades -- but overall I feel like they had a much better offering last year.

I live in MN, and whatever you've heard... It's much worse.
