I already have two dogs, a cat, and a betta (Caiman, Dixie, Manson, and Fido, respectively). I fell in love with this pet rescue's photo of a tabby named Ruger yesterday:

I sent their listing to my husband, who usually laughs at me and tells me no more pets. I was surprised when he told me to go for it. o_o I joked that he should be careful what he said, because a statement like that could lead to a fuller house, but he again encouraged me to meet up with the cat and bring him home. He even expressed disappointment when he came home that night and we didn't have a new family member!
Long story short, I met the cat, Ruger, in person today. My kitty, Manson, is a large but delicate polydactyl oriental longhair url=https://scontent-2.2914.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/v/t1.0-9/945599_154731844702463_687481147_n.jpg?oh=e45c9f7a7e26547fa6a68239a79ee303&oe=5514F512[/url]. I was surprised by the sheer size and weight of Ruger. I stared at the twisted nubbin of tail he had. I fell in love, paid the adoption fee, and took him home.

He is currently settling into my laundry room:

Aw, what an adorable face! His eyes and markings are beautiful. He looks like such a sweetie too. Hope he's settling in nicely!
The subtle gray markings are pretty. What's his personality like so far?
I love how tabbies have stripes on their skin too. He looks so handsome! Congratulations to you!

Oh wow, that is a gorgeous cat! Awesome of you to adopt :)
Yay rescue pets :) Very adorable!

He's a cutie :) I hope he's settling in nicely so far!
He's such a pretty guy! I wish you many wonderful years with Ruger and your other cuties.
Ruger's gorgeous, although he looks like he's going to get into everything just to see what it is when he's settled in.
Aww he's so adorable! I have three cats and a dog, I hope he settles in well! (;

He's definitely gorgeous! He's not too happy about being locked up in the laundry room, although he's doing much better today.
He's very friendly, affectionate, definitely the snuggly type. He seems pretty laid-back. He's totally unaffected by the smell of Manson (the pre-existing cat of the house) and hasn't reacted to the dogs when he's seen/smelled them at the door.
Adorable, right?!
and Four of my five current critters were adopted (two directly from previous homes, one from the borough animal shelter, and one from a rescue). Love them!
The one having problems adapting is Manson. He's not so thrilled smelling another cat in the house.
Thanks so much! His previous owner has been in touch with me and is super anxious about him, but I know he's going to be fine.
I don't know if he's really going to be particularly mischievous. His former owner says his favorite hobby is eating, haha.
I know, same! When all of his fur is in, it's ticked and spotted a bit like a pixie-bob's, but I've never really seen tabby-type markings in grey and peach. I wonder if he's some sort of dilute?
Any tips for getting the cranky cat of the house to adapt to a newcomer? I'm keeping them separated and each of them has a sock that I petted the other with, but Manson isn't thrilled and has grumbled at the sock a couple of times. He's an oriental longhair x angora that is just full of sass.
That's awesome :) I volunteer at my local shelter taking photos for their site, and have gone to various rescue events and such. I love all the animals so much <3 Have adopted a rabbit and a few rats xD No big adoptions...yet!
Sweet! I used to volunteer for a breed-specific dog rescue, as well as Drive For Life, but never had a chance to do much for either due to my remote location.
adorable :)

Awww, congratulations! He's such a pretty boy! :D
Saw his pics on your facebook but he's adorable.
Also, munchkin kitty!
I suggest try putting them in the same room as you and give them both equal love, to show both of them you love them both the same. Worked for me with my oldest cat and my newest. They're best friends now! :)

Thanks!
He is definitely gorgeous. His previous owner showed me pics of him with his fur grown in, and he's just stunning.
He has full-length legs, I swear! But like 1/3 of a tail!
I'll give that a try once he's graduated to being allowed in the same room as the existing cat. :D
