- no back spikes and he has sort of gold-ish glitter but no actual markings :)
How is this? I'm going to mess with the chain a bit I think, it's too thin and goes a bit weak and blegh at the smaller size P= But is there anything else? Lot is yours if not ^^
I hope you like him =D
THIS is the ref image, I thought you might like to see it XD

- homg! I thought you might "moon moon" him...but holy asdfggh!!!! He is beautiful...and he looks like he is too busy playing to attack! I love him! :D
: /quietly stalking
also I had a question for you, if you don't mind me asking...can you work from descriptions, or only from ref-sheets? c:
I'm happy to work from descriptions as long as they're detailed and accurate
: bless you for answering and thanks so much! I always struggle with that since I can't draw for beans and so many artists ask for refsheets n /continues stalking
It can be difficult if people are vague or expect you to read their mind XD But then it's the artist's job to say 'hang on, I don't understand this bit' just as much as it's the commissioner's job to be explicit in the first place, idk why but I've never had any issues working from written descriptions, I'm not sure why any one would = it's not a thing I understand.
: I completely understand that; it's really hard to make profiles for people when they're super vague and then ask me why I did something they didn't like. /sigh But it's good that you're willing to work with people! I'm always terrified of talking to artists because I feel like they're so far above me and you've done quite a bit to assuage my concerns ;u;
Honestly my favourites are the ones who'll tell me their character's life history but not something obvious like the colour of their hair... I appreciate the passion you have for your character's story, but it's not a lot of use to me XD Ah most of us (even grumpy ones like me) are fairly approachable, or they should be, I'd be pretty leery of commissioning art from someone who wasn't open for discussion, simply because I'd assume they weren't interested in giving me my money's worth, only getting the work done as soon as possible irrespective of how happy I am with it. I know I have knowledge, colour, anatomy etc... that my commissioners might not have, and they have knowledge on what they're looking for and what their character is like that I don't have, it has to be a two way street P=
: omg that is literally the worst; it's always good to see someone with appreciation for their character but their tragic backstory won't help me make a profile for them Dx
and I'm glad you feel that way, b/c honestly it feels like a lot of artists on here don't; I mean, I'm sure most of them do, but it's always intimidating to approach artists, especially the really good ones who're always full. unu I feel like they're too busy to be bothered, or like I'll make them mad by asking about possible graphics trades.
ANYWAY thanks so much for indulging me; I hope I can grab a slot and get some of your badass art for my Thorin pet soon ;u;
Unf. Aside from what you mentioned with the chain it's perfect. <3 You always do such an amazing job and I appreciate it so much.
Do you want me to pay now or after you do the second? I figured I'd just pay all 4k csc together. Unless you prefer to get it separate? xD
I'd prefer separate, but since I won't be able to fix the chain until tomorrow anyway might as well wait now XD I'm glad you like it! His story was reminding me of Nicobobinus P=
I've had people tell me about the history of their character's parents, just to tell me why their eyes are blue. Nicely thought out, but not what I'm interested in at this moment in time XD it's kinda sweet in an infuriating sort of way. I know what you mean = I've had so many good artists on this site just vanish without completing or even communicating, it's put me off buying art off here, it really lets the side down too? I make mistakes, I've lost people off lists, or thought I wrote a name down when I didn't, but I'm proud of the fact I've never deliberately lost track of a person or ignored a commission, it just strikes me as something you shouldn't do if you're a professional? Even if it's on a tiny scale like this? But it seems common with artists of a certain caliber to just Poof or not keep track or control of their slots (over slotting omg, it's not that hard to judge how many you can take on...) but their work is good enough to keep bringing in new people, instead of valuing repeat customers. Sorry, rambling, pet hate of mine.
Not at all =D I like to talk to a fellow artisan, I hope I can work with you soon!
: omg I totally feel that. I've been waiting for some art pieces for years, and I tend to feel like I'm being ignored at that point. I watch artists on here take on so goddamn much and never keep up with it, or they make their slots so exclusive that only 'friends' end up getting the one slot they have. /sigh I have so much love for repeat customers because they put up with me and we've clearly built a work relationship that functions well.
SO quick art question while I'm still pestering you (and trying to get over my heart palpitations, I thought you were pinging for open slots and about had a heart attack) -- what is your favorite critter/thing to draw, and what program(s) do you use?
I can kind of understand it with the sP slots, I get frustrated when I want someone's art but can only get a sketch with sP, even though I think it's totally fair XD it's annoying, but I understand why it happens. But yeah, I like to have a quick turn around, or at least to tell people if there is a delay, I rarely take on more than 4 slots at once simply because any more than that and people are waiting too long = and either I ask them to pay ahead of time, and they're left out of pocket until i get around to them, or I don't and by the time I get to them they don't have the cash any more, either way isn't practicable in my mind. Yes =D they usually have the best idea of what you need to work with, what you like and you know what they like too!
Haha, sorry XD I use Photoshop CS6 mainly, I'd like to get Manga Studio at some point but it's a low priority, I also have... Alchemy and Mischief-free for doodling in (if you don't have Mischief omg look it up, it's so cool). I get asked this quite a bit, and I'm never really sure how to answer... I like variety. I love birds and mecha but drawing that over and over again still get's tiresome, I love dragons and monsters, but I like cute fluffy things sometimes too... really what appeals to me is well thought out characters and strength of design over 'making up for' a weak design with details. I can really enjoy pieces with lots of detail, thus the mecha and that magpie I just did, I based the jewelry off the Russian field diadem, and while I'm wondering why the HELL I thought that was good idea, it was fun to draw, but it wasn't the details that appealed to me, the character held it's own and it reminded me of one of my favourite stories, I enjoyed drawing it because I enjoyed the solid concept. Details don't make up for a weak character, silhouette, concept... that's what really grabs me. You can bring me a mecha thinking it's right up my alley, but if it's design doesn't speak about it's character, if it's trying to look like it has meaning through meaningless detail rather than through purpose of design, I won't be enthralled. Where as Vespertine up there somewhere was really worried her fluffy moth-panda wouldn't appeal to me, but I actually really enjoyed it, I was able to push the moth-y design further than in the official pet and it was fun. So... yeah, I like strong character design over anything else I guess? Wow that was a bit more rambling than I intended ^^;; been a while since I was able to talk art with anyone.
: I also use CS6! and SAI when I attempt my shitty doodles. uwu I always like to know what works best for other people.
Yeah, I completely get that! I'm the same way about pet profiles I make tbh, if the character I'm building it for doesn't intrigue me then I don't enjoy making the profile quite as much. :s I thought I was the only one!
The magpie you did was freaking amazing; the jewelry was so unique. And Vespy always has awesome concepts uwu Sorry for flooding your thread, I was just genuinely curious and evaluating which of my pets I should bring to you if/when I get a slot. I think I've narrowed it down to three. /dies Thanks so much for talking art/design with me, it's always nice to do so, especially with a fellow menagerie member. uwu
@ Shalashaska I can send it now if you want! Sorry I'm late responding, I took a nap.
I also wanted to say that I apologize for always seeming really short whenever I message you on the boards to say thank you. For whatever reason whenever I see these I'm at work trying to be a decent employee so all my intelligent thoughts are gone by the time I get home and am like "omg wat do i saaay".
I've never actually read that story. o: I can't even find a decent description of it. xD I actually somehow got the idea from one of the overlays you did, partially, and then staring at pictures from the game Thief. Originally he was a cursed prince turned into a golden magpie, and then I turned him into a kind of dark, comic relief character where he hates the curse because now he can't steal things because he's too flashy. xD
I'm usually in a similar position, I don't post until night time, and by then I've been staring at a computer screen all day and my brain has gone on holiday XD
You can pick it up quite cheap off Amazon, and I really recommend it if you like fantasy, and weird, and honestly it's probably one of my all time favourite stories ever XD link if you're interested, I should probably get another copy myself >_>; mine is old and very well worn now.

Does this mean a csc slot is available? >> (Probably not since nobody else has offered to claim it.)
If not I'm terribly sorry for the rude intrusion!
