I post because forums are a public section that I still enjoy and I have the right to give my two cents.

I understand the whole duplicate thing, but there might be a way to prevent those doubles without obviously displaying that someone gifted it to you. It ruins the purpose and fun, that's all I'm saying. Unless you meant that some people didn't want their friends to know they are selling their gifts .. then I cannot answer for them.

I remember seeing somewhere that the "tree removal" won't happen. It is given at the discretion of each user to display theirs or not. The gifts option is still effective tho, there might be nothing to do about it.

I didn't say that you couldn't but you said you "didn't care" so that's why I asked.

Yeah well no I agree, that's what I was trying to say, yet it evidently didn't come out that way. A way to prevent doubles.

So, I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "removing the trees" then. You don't have to display your tree...so?

No. No seeing anything that's under anyone's tree. That's just not cool. It's like opening someone else's gifts before they can see and open them first. Not cool. So if people get dupes, they get dupes. It's been the same thing year after year XD I normally sell the items and then use the profit to buy other WL items. Or trade for the same reason. Unless it's ONLY the items that you give and you alone. However, I can only imagine the coding headache that would cause...

If people want trees blocked, then there should also be an option to block snowballs permanently. There's no real difference. People don't like the look of the trees behind their HAs, people don't like the look of ugly snowballs on their HAs. There's no difference at all. If one is blocked, the other should be, too and vice-versa.

As for Mysterious Melody...maybe there could be a minimum and maximum implemented. Your item can't be worth less than or more than. It kinda ruins things, but...

Just because MM - Minimum amount to spend (based on SS) maybe 10k. Maximum amount to spend 100k (I'm just putting numbers in here...)

Let's have some fun MM - Minimum amount - 25k. Maximum amount - 500k

Elite MM - Minimum amount - 200k. Maximum amount - 4 mill

Sky's the limit MM - Minimum amount 750k. Maximum amount - None

Like I said - just threw some numbers in there. When you enter the MM building, you'd be given the option to choose what area you'd want to enter. Then you'd put your name in. It'd also be good if the system kept track. There should also be a minimum amount of gifts you send, too. If you don't send that amount by the time the day changes over, you're warned. 3 warnings and you're banned permanently from MM.

The link for gifting is still effective. You can take a tree link and modify it to gift an user that hid their tree. A bit like the ToT link? But even if those are taken down, friends always find a way to give.

So you don't want friends to give you things? No I agree, on that one. Now that I follow... (I think)

I used to have a section on my profile about that myself actually. (Why I had a wishlist and that I didn't want/expect people to send me things...) (((on a bigger sidebar, it accidentally got deleted when editing my profile and I really need to put it back up)))

I mean, for the Lumineve season, I don't mind too much because well it's tradition but I understand now. It's not totally the tree itself you just don't want people to send you things.

Yes?

But in all honesty, I think that looking under someone else's tree for any reason shouldn't be allowed. Doesn't feel right.

Imposing min/max spend categories on MM wouldn't help much. Aside from needing a complete recode in a way which could actually ensure categories were kept to, it doesn't eliminate the main problem of MM, which people who sign up, happily accept items given to them, but give nothing in return. The upper price category would just be flooded with people out for free expensive things. Plus, I like being able to give a good range of presents to my MMs (when they actually participate).

I love MM, even though it is the dark, greedy, disappointing underside to what is otherwise a lovely sparkly generous holiday. There were discussions last year about how to counteract non-gifters, but it's difficult to come up with a system which couldn't also be used against those who do just participate normally.

Like I said I'm looking for something that would try to eliminate doubles or even triples (been there done that) just so goes to copy previous comment

Quote
That way there are no doubles and AHEM NO hard feelings to a FRIEND who sees the item they gifted you in your shop? Then they don&;t feel like they gave you something shitty or what-have-you. I mean, or sometimes in (my personal experience) the gifter feels bad for doubling up and sends you something else?

I agree, I don't want anyone to see it, just a way to avoid hard feelings.

true but there'd be also a warning system in place where if they get three warnings, they're permanently banned from MM for all eternity. It just seems rather difficult to code things I'm pretty sure. However, if MM is going to be nothing but greed, I think the whole feature should just be removed permanently.

If people get doubles, they can sell them. I like doubles. Free money.

Also removing a tree =/= snowballs

Removing a tree and thus, refusing to be gifted : Wanting to remove yourself from an activity that has positive benefits for you.

Removing a snowball : Wanting to remove yourself from an activity that has negative benefits for you.

No I know doubles is nice in that way, but my main concern is for your friend seeing the item they sent you in your shop.

It may make them feel bad and/or they may decide to spend more sP to buy you a new gift.

I kinda want to know what friend is stalking their friend's shops and going "OMG THEY ARE SELLING THAT WEARABLE I BOUGHT THEM HOW COULD THEY!"

I mean like seriously, unless they are hunting it down specifically, how would they know?

I go in my friends shops to see if they have anything I want so that way I'm spending my sP to help them. I'd rather spend my sP in friends shops then anywhere else.

People get to dote on their HAs year around. We only get to snowball once a year for a limited time. Is it really that big of an issue to tolerate some balls to the face?

yes plz on fixing gifting. I have vault categories with matching WL categories to help me keep up with my gifting but I always still manage to mess something up somewhere, especially when more than 1 friend is receiving the same gift.

I just want the trees to be fixed and work better. Not freezing up every time you try to add ornaments.

I don't think snowballs should be able to be completely blocked. Really doesn't make any sense to me. Why not also be able to opt out of random events that take sp?
