I vote no on the 100% Block - if you don't want to participate you can always just stay off the forums and the odds of you getting hit with a snowball are slim to none.

You say you want a 100% snowball block because you don't want your HA that you spent a lot of time and effort on to be ruined, correct? Well...how about making an HA that's simpler and that doesn't take as much time to put together, just for this part of the year? It can still be nice-looking and seasonal, just simple. Kind of like the idea of play clothes for children or old work clothes for adults - things that you don't mind getting messed up. Since you can save HAs in your wardrobe, you can still take your time to make really lovely ones too, just save them for later on, when snowballs aren't an issue.
Just a suggestion, in case staff doesn't release a 100% snowball-blocking item - which, for the record, I don't think they need to. Also it's more fun than completely avoiding the boards all Lumineve, or stressing yourself so much over a relatively minor thing.
I really don't want a 100% block. Or the Melody alert. Because of reasons other users have stated. But I do like the suggestion for gifting.
I'd also really like to see 's suggestion implemented:
I honestly don't see what the big deal is with getting doubles for xmas? Just sell the doubles you don't want?

Why the chicken would you want to see your gifts before the 25th? Can we have a title for that? Like "USER pretended to be surprised during the Holidays!"
personally i've never had a problem with getting doubles...? because 1) it's the thought that counts, and 2) say you get two of the same expensive wearable as a gift. sure, you can only put one in your wardrobe, but...the two items have the same value, sp-wise! it's equivalent to saying, if it was an item you might one day buy yourself, then you're saved that sp if someone gives you one—or in other words, you gain that much sp value...so then if you get two, you earn twice as much.
i do think there could be improvements to the way gifts are given though, as stated in the first post. but i disagree with 100% snowball block and the melody alert. you should have to work to get prizes, not just have them dumped on you.
Also the snowball thing. I remember when people used to wait until Luminaire had actually started before making complaint threads about temporary pixel snow, but I guess it's best to beat the rush and get it over with at the start of November. There's seriously no reason why getting hit by a pretend snowball that covers up a pretend outfit for an hour during a pretend holiday should be so upsetting.
The essence is cheapo because it's given out for free every year if you visit Melody for 25 days in a row -- it should be more considering it's in the CS for $15, or that price should be lowered. Or they shouldn't be free every single year. That said thank you for reminding me to geab one while they're cheap xD
I also support getting rid of the no melody spoilers, that's just silly to even be a rule omg IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS SET YOUR HOMEPAGE TO THE COTTAGE AND GET YOUR ITEMS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE??? Like if you're hanging out in the forums/chatting inb4 your daily freebies then it can't be that high of a priority??? Silly rule needs to go the way of the dinosaurs....
On the topic of things that need changing, since subeta/Keith seem to be re-evaluating things done "because reasons" that no one enjoys.... can we talk about MM?
No one enjoys getting pelted with junk thanks to the achievement. How about the achievement is retired? Unless,
You can cancel your MM for the day (and get another only if you received nothing from the original partner), and if you got at least one thing you're out until the following day? (one cancel per day, max)
Then if you can't afford it anymore, it's time to go to bed/work/magnets, got someone who sent nothing in return, or got pelted with junk thanks to the achievement you can close shop. A week of being canceled due to sending junk might better curb others to at least send fraggables if they're sending just to get achievements.
YEAH YEAH I get it, thought that counts giving not receiving but no one wants your junk because your greedybutt wants a stupid achievement. No one gets in the mood to be nice if there's radio silence on the other side, either. This is a matter of "this isn't fun as it stands" which kinda makes you wonder why it even exists anymore.
Why can't we have some pre-selected options to say to each other when sending an item? Like: hello there, thank you, I have to go now, goodnight, happy holidays, are you still around, etc? I know people get creative with items but they aren't thaaaat obvious if you're not thinking about it, and many of the items do inflate.
If canceling and whatnot was too hard/unjustifiable to code how about instead of being able to send anything the extremely unused: http://subeta.net/explore/presents.php was reworked for MM? No more random junk, at least you could get something you can frag! And for those who want to send bigger gifts, the more you spend the better the items (I think the way this used to work was 10k+ was a normal/rare/super rare?).
i support the gift page, easier faster and just better. mass gifting yes!!
other NOPE.
i love snowballs, i think there should be achievements about them.
it's part of the holiday, like trees that make your ha have no background
i don't like people that always suggest and off / on button for things.
If I got hit by a bus and landed in the hospital then I'm not going to give two fluffs about a melody achievement here on subeta,Pretty sure I'm going to be more concerned about pain at that time if that were the case.
However the no spoilers thing was pretty well argued and I could see that but 95% of the rest was just ridiculous.
THAT GIF ...x10.
I'd love it a million times over if I could see what I put under someone's tree already. In past years, I've been using gift lists to sort things out and keep notes straight (oh how I do love the gift lists) but...
It'd be nice to see what I've given if I didn't remember to add it to the list (its laggy and slow to get to in past years) or had a bunch of things in my inventory to go to a lot of people and forget who I gave the Orange Day-glo Fluffy Reindeer Sweater to and who I didn't give it yet, so first friend ends up with like 5 of the damn things... y'know?
Or when friends go "Oh, thank you for the gifts!" I can't be the only one who goes "yup, you're welcome. glad you like it! now what the fuck did I get them?"
[edit] Edit to add - so please, please add an overview where I can see what I've given people, or at least show me under their tree if I can't get an overview page? Please?
and maybe make the Orange Day-glo Fluffy Reindeer Sweaters a thing? >_>
I really love ths idea of having the ability to see what has been put under each tree, but I don't think we should be able to see everything under there. But the idea of accidental duplicates doesn't putweigh the potential abuse of people leaking gifts to people. You can't unhear that and it would stink for someone's holiday to be ruined.
If you receive more than one of something, I'm sure people execpt you to sell the duplicates.
Yeaah when I thought about this, I thought that visiting the person's tree would let you see what you put under it. Personally, I wouldn't want to see everything that everyone gave that person, also because if anyone hoards cheap items (I do!), the tree is probably going to be stuffed with them so it's going to be a pain to scroll past that. It's just for a quick reminder of what you have given them already xD
And if anyone gets doubles from me then I 100% expect them to sell PLEASE SELL and buy other fancies!
I also second MM/"random present" feature revamps, and please make it so the trees work better when it comes to dragging ornaments up and down / dealing with lots of them. Last year I drew a mustache on my tree and it was already painful enough with the lag and crashes, I can't imagine how people do it if they want their tree covered up in ornaments ;-;
Loving the Cottage alert suggestion! And I'd love to see something new done with MM, even if it ends up working out a bit (though, of course, tweaked!) like the Wishing Shrub from Peka Boo.
I also really hope that staff will get around to fixing the Luminaire site theme by the time December rolls around. You know, there aren't that many weeks left before it's time, and that thing is still broken, and staff hasn't said a word about it (that I've noticed) on the bug topic in a while. It was acknowledged, but it's still broken. :c
I would really like the trees to work. Last year I ended up having to restart firefox many times due to lagging then freezing as I placed ornaments. I wasn't even trying to be silly and place hundreds of ornaments either. I think I had around 20-30? when I gave up.
I remember the year before when I tried to completely cover the tree. I think there is either a hard limit of ornaments one can use or the tree page was lagging so much I quit because my computer was threatening to blow up.
I want to use them but not when all of that happens each time. :(

The snowballs irritate me too. I like the idea of snowball fights but it gets annoying seeing the snowball on my HA all the time.
Mysterious Melody is the most, troubling thing though. I like the idea, and I know it'd probably be hard to change but I get tired of giving gifts, to get none back. Yeah, sometimes the person may have to leave and doesn't have a chance to send much but it's depressing to get a bad partner more than a good one. And I end up feeling nervous to send anything big at first and for all I know that person may be a good partner. I'd rather save up my SP and items for friends.
+1 x 1,000,000 for sho! I agree on all counts. I like the ideas.
Minus Duno who that is or why...
ALSO
Tree gift giving is fun but pointless due to doubles. Allow for a user to remove an item (but not know who sent it) from their wishlist that is under their tree. Or let gift senders see what others have put under it (as well as their own gifts which was mentioned above).
Why the chicken would you want to see your gifts before the 25th? Can we have a title for that? Like "USER pretended to be surprised during the Holidays!"
How about some sort of way that when you're gifted a WL item, it's removed from your WL? That way there are no doubles and AHEM NO hard feelings to a FRIEND who sees the item they gifted you in your shop? Then they don't feel like they gave you something shitty or what-have-you. I mean, or sometimes in (my personal experiance) the gifter feels bad for doubling up and sends you something else?
Jus' Sayin' :)

Users will either
I don't even care tbh, I just want to block my tree.
Well, as I said, I'm mostly concerned with what my friends would think seeing the item they sent over in my shop.
It doesn't kill anything...if there was a right way to do it, some people don't spend every day sorting through all their WL items.
If you don't then, why bother posting? shrugs
Also, remove that section on your profile. Tree = blocked. Problem solved.
