I don't think it is a horrible idea, but I think maybe the staff could increase the number of times the Hustler stocks the Collections or even just the items individually.

The vending machines used to give out the reallllllly old items (they may have been readded, not quite sure) but maybe updating them could be a neat way?

Taking this into consideration for the kind of stuff we can put up on black friday. Maybe instead of the hustler getting all of the old collection items put in the queue (what we usually do) we can just toss all of them into a temporary "old collection" vending machine with no weighting. Not really sure what I'd price that at, though.

I don't think we've ever said that collections are only ever going to be sold in the month that we put them out. They're named, but we've rereleased items from them in various ways (luminaire present, hustler) since the start of them.

Releasing the items via different means is not the same as selling a November 2012 monthly collection in May of 2015 in my opinion. And I think that's what this suggestion was asking for.

I am certainly not going to waste my time to go back and check to see if it's ever been stated in the last decade or so that Monthly Collections are only sold for the month that they are released, so I'll take your word for it that. I do think it's been implied numerous times over the years though...

Mostly, I would like to see this. It would be especially nice if he would restock the unopened ones more often.

Old collections used to be released again during Black Friday (though I don't believe they were typically on sale, just available again) and while I favored that, I understand why that doesn't happen anymore. I feel like the Hustler is the best alternative since staff can limit how many are released and there's a limit on how many one user can buy. It also helps us knock a few items off our wishlists and helps the site out more than vending.

I'd totally dig an old collectible item vending/chance machine, 250 a pop? I guess it would depend on the prize pool, if there are more "cheaper" collectible items than not then maybe lower. Either way, I'd spin it a couple times :)

Otherwise my comment was going to be maybe there needs more spotlight on the current ways of obtaining old collectibles (I didn't know the Lumineve gift existed before this thread, I assume it's available in december?????). I know they usually stay on top of the Hustler and his item pool but a lot of this relies on user feedback, what do you want to see in the hustler? Staff may need to reach out a little further for more input to users who might not have known they ask for suggestions.

I'd love to see more older items being brought back. It's one super awesome thing Subeta does and it makes this place a lot more new user friendly than most sites.

I don't think we release the items themselves because it's a lot easier for us to just put all of the items into the hustler queue to get a little more roadway out of it than just the box and have it all be done at once. Either way, you don't need to go digging through my history because I'll say it now - this isn't something we have a problem with and we don't mind releasing old collection / donation present items in other methods on the site, especially in the case of the black friday sale.

And actually, before last year we used to put ALL of the collection items from that year (the boxes - not the items themselves) back in the CS when we did more mass unretirings instead of a bunch of new items, like we do now.

Yup, I remember that. I also remember the reason given when you guys stopped releasing the old items! ;)

Again, releasing the items via a different method: No big deal.

Selling old collection items boxes in the cash shop during the year (not during Black Friday, because sales are special) would come across as a rather slimy, greedy money grab in my opinion

Yeah, we're moving a few more things in that direction in the upcoming months, too. The Gifts of Fashion Past and Luminieve Gift (which will probably just do exactly what we're talking about in this thread) will move to being vends instead of items.

I support this fully, not as a year round option but for something like Black Friday or maybe a retro comeback cash shop sale sometime during the year (around the time of income tax returns would be a very smart move, imo) with a bunch of old stuff coming back for a week or so.

While I know it's a monthly collection thing, no one is a mind reader? Andrea of a year year ago didn't know I'd need some collection item for a TC i just started on yesterday. Someone might want to start collecting books or plushies tomorrow, only to find out the collections of 2013 only would cost them 25m each, which may end up with them not bothering. But what if past collections come back once a year and they can get 24 they need for 250 csc? That's potentially $60 in subetas pocket which should be more important than a users three times profit.

I like and support this idea not because I want stuff for cheapies but because people aren't future readers and don't know what they'll need down the line.

ALSO using ANYANYany November collection as a cheap example is a poor excuse of an example because they're ALWAYS deflated verses most other collections due to being 125 during black friday.

Personally I'd love to see just a retired collection section for (ex: all 2013 & 2014) past collections during black friday -- at full price (no discounting, the luxury is the ability to purchase them again).

Then I'm back to supporting the re-releases of old monthly collections. Andrea said what I wanted to and more. I'm now thinking about the plushies and beanbags that come in each monthly collection and how most people don't seriously pursue those collections because it's just too expensive and well, not fun. And yes to TC items, which is one of my main problems anyway. Figuring out what I need for my pets and- oh shoot, there's something from a collection from 5 years ago I need, better shell out tens of millions of sp when I'd be willing to buy it from the cash shop if it were ever there again.

I'm rambling now. But I'm glad it's being considered for black friday at the very least. Perhaps I'll get something then.

I gotta say I always liked the sounds of your idea thoughout this forum even though you began to doubt yourself because of other users opinions. You and probably everyone else in this forum so far has probably played subeta a lot longer than me. I'm just fresh out of my first year here. Subeta staff really seem to listen to their users and I see a lot of suggestions being implemented, or at least taken into consideration. So let's keep our fingers crossed for our favorite would've-had collections rereleases :3

So I should probably state I started spending quite a few real moneys on this site after one or two months of making an account. I'm fully blown in addiction to this site, haha! 0__o

But even missing those couple months where I could've got those collection items, I am crying. And stalking the hustler so often, I've come to notice he doesn't exactly rotate through ALL donation/collection items, I see a lot of repeats ....And I am a user who is deeply regretful I didn't come across this site WAYY WAYY WAYY sooner. I wish I could have an account that's been through and seen it all but I'm thankful to be here now and look forward to the future... <3

Don't we have that present thing in the CS that gives out three random DP/collection items?

I would be thrilled if collections were put back in the CS during Black Friday or even if the frequency of the Hustler giving them out was upped a lot, but I gotta say, the vending thing, especially for csc.. not really digging that idea.

Donation Presents were often a total mess of a gamble (I still make faces at the Buddon) and they're the reason I never bothered much with the Christmas/Lumineve Present.

Barring the occasional month that I forget to buy them, I have nearly every DP/DC from the time that I joined the site. Vending would not be something worth my while. If someone was looking for a specific item for a TC/Wardrobe/etc, it really wouldn't be worth theirs either, so I don't envision it being a very popular machine to vend from.

Also, I thought Subeta wanted to get away from chance items? Slapping a bigger image on it and calling it a vending machine doesn't change what it is.

😊 Thank you... I had doubt because others pointed out that "monthly collections" probably meant "released this one month in this one year and never again". But once Keith confirmed that it's okay to re-release them, I shrugged the doubt off.

It's obvious by you and a lot of other people that users are more than willing to buy these things if they came back, so naturally I thought this would be the sort of thing to give subeta a money boost, which is a good thing. I don't know why people think that's being greedy. like what.

I guess people get angry that Keith does things with the money that is no longer theirs. They spend money here, Keith gets some of it as his own pay, and then he does stuff with it. And then people get pissed. How dare Keith get paid. How dare he have a life. That's like buying stuff from wal-mart and getting mad when the owner of walmart buys themselves some new clothes.

I guess they feel that too much of the money they spend goes towards Keith's luxury life. The employees of this company have to get paid and that's that. That's why I'm suggesting this "extra" thing to get money so that after the employees get paid there's PLENTY of money to go towards site maintenance and things. Which is why I was initially suggesting this as a monthly thing, to bring back an old collection each month, to give people a chance to spend money on something they weren't around to get.

I know people kept shedding light on the other methods of attaining these items but here's the thing- People generally don't like random. Not when it comes to paying real money. People generally like to know what exactly they're getting so they can feel like they're getting their money's worth, which is why, I have a feeling, that monthly collections were no longer random after switching from "donation presents". And that's been another point of mine this entire thread. Yes there are random ways to get old items. That's not what I'm looking for. I want to be presented the item I'm after, pay for it, and be done with it.

Basically, this. If I'm after a plushie out of a certain collection, why would I pay money only to get like, a minion from some other collection.

Which is why I support the return of outright buying old monthly collections. I wanted them to be available more often, but if it's only for black friday that's okay too. Like I said on the last page, I don't see the difference in someone paying 250csc for a collection 4 years ago, and someone else buying that same collection for 250csc right now. Which is probably why I didn't want it back for black friday, unless it would be full price. It's one thing to pay the exact amount as someone would have done years ago, but to get it as a discount is all kinds of wrong.

Anyway my point: money is money, money years ago is money, money right now is money, people will pay money to get what they want, and money is good for subeta.

I support bringing collection items back, yes, but as others have said, use the Hustler. However, I do agree that certain collection items should be brought back through the Hustler over others as there are some that are so few on site that it makes them almost impossible to obtain. There are some that don't even exist for sale.

On that note, Hustler should change up more often, too XD

lol this so much, doesn't anyone remember when old collection items came back to vend? How deflated they became by the vending machine? (that apothecary background for less THAN A MILLION say what) If anyone argues they want monthlies to retain value, DON'T bring them back via vending. Big mistake.

I totally support the collections returning for their regular 250 csc amount during the black friday sale. No one said you had to make a profit on your collection from 4 years ago. If you haven't sold it by now, you're selling it wrong. Just saying. (because I don't get why it wouldn't be okay to bring back the monthly collections for a limited time with the SAME price tag lower would be indeed a travesty unless it's about hoarding for profit)

I also wouldnt mind it showing up on Black Friday or some other arbitrary day at FULL price or at a reasonable markup.

Probably an impopular opinion, but this sums up my thoughts on CS things. Bring retired things back at full price, it'll be up to people to see what is worth and what isn't. Could happen only during sales (BF/summer sale), while the Hustler hustles his merchandise during the rest of the year (Ariel keeps asking us for suggestions on what items should be put on his queue anyway)!

I actually feel the same even when it comes to CS challengers / the research notes. They could be kept out of the Hustler, but re-releasing them for 1 day every couple years wouldn't even hurt the investment potential much, imo. Not every sale may have ALL retired items back, I like the idea of cycling them through.

Gonna take this opportunity to say I also wish there was a way to get a hold of retired Subq besides GoFPs. Them being Hustled is highly debatable, but tbh I wish it was fair game because of the whole issue of attainability and limitations of quantities originally stocked vs. the growing/renewing userbase goals.

I personally hate the csc chance machines because I hate the gamble. IF the odds could be balanced decently, maybe I'd accept them better, but they clearly are very skewed and I'm not any eager to see more of them around -_-
