I am getting some major Xena and Gabrielle flashbacks here. There are still people who deny they are a couple because they are delusional even though it's been confirmed a hundred times over. I'm not all ~~woo Jaxon and Ian forever ** but it is awesome a site like this would do a queer couple. Representation matters. Period. It does not matter how small or unimportant you think it is, it's important (which is also why people need to pull their heads out of their tightly puckered asses and stop referring to Quentin as a male or female). Honestly, straight people are the most represented and are the first to say representation doesn't matter. If you don't see the issue with that, then you also need to remove your head from your personal hiding place. "It's not there because I don't want it to be." Too bad, I exist.

Both of you were jumping to conclusions. Just because somebody doesn't like the couple doesn't mean they're a homophobe or a troll. They may not like it for a number of reasons other than the characters' sexuality. Maybe they don't like the way the couple looks together. Maybe they don't think the personalities complement each other. Maybe they think the characters are better off with other characters.

Personally I hate shipping. Technically I hate the fanbase reaction more so the actual romantic progress the couple is going through. Hate it though. Regardless of gender or sexuality. Canon or fanon couples. Especially fanon couples. It is one of the most obnoxious things I've ever had the misfortune to encounter on the internet. Right up there with Youtube comments and SJW. Romance can be nice, but it really depends on the work itself. In general there is way too much attention on sex and romantic love and not nearly enough attention on the fact that relationships can be strong/life-long without those things. You don't have to be in love with/want to fuck someone to be willing to make sacrifices for them or feel an immense sense of loss when they're gone. The show Supernatural (Merlin too actually) completely revolves around this. Irritatingly they also have massive shipbases.

But I think the original point of the thread was that Jaxon's revamp was nice. It is. He looks good. Especially when he smiles. I'd like it if there were more NPC art around the site. Kind of wish the art galleries would make a comeback. I read in another thread that the staff will be focusing on NPCs next year, so I'm looking forward to that.

There are certain ships I don't get anywhere near with a 10 foot pole, but that doesn't mean others can't enjoy them. I just do my best to avoid the ones I dislike. Jaxian, is an entirely different case for me though. I personally think they're adorable, but that's just my opinion.

Dude, seriously. I don't follow staff around so don't go assuming things about me. I never saw any confirmation shit or a news post basically flashing in 92pt neon glittery font "Jaxon and Ian are totally shagging nonstop in the pumpkin patch!". I was finding it interesting, at that time no less, that people seemed to be jumping to the idea that they're lovers when I never saw anything even hinting at.

And this here is why if I ship something it's going to be the oddest least noticed shit so I don't have to put up with rabid fans. I totally ship The Broken Tea Cup x Ian. XD

To take it back on topic: I'm meh over his new design. It's alright but not my style. As I said before I never liked Jaxon in the first place. I kind of like Ian's new look but I find his floofy hair silly. lol Though it does seems to fit with "scientist who's too busy to really care what he looks like".

I don't follow them, Rah happened to reblog my post and confirmed it. And because I saw people on here saying they didn't think they were together, they were just friends, I chose to post the proof saying otherwise. I didn't assume anything about anyone. If people don't want to ship them, that's fine. But to be like 'They're friends, not boyfriends, because that's how I want it to be' and deny the canon is pretty gross. Don't ship them? Fine. Just don't deny they're a couple.

As a personal example, I don't ship Will and Elizabeth from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, I don't care for that ship at all. But they are married in the canon, so I have to accept that.

Also, I'm not sure how you missed the hints. It was very heavily hinted at, as Rah mentions in her post. It doesn't have to be blatant and in our face the way Skitters and Fantine was for it to be obvious. Jaxon called Ian 'my dear', and 'beloved'. And for a character well known to be misanthropic, that was a pretty glaring sign.

Ah see, I was taking the "my dear" and "beloved" to be old fashion. I mean I always figured Jaxon was ancient so it never registered to me. I remember having a few times where I had to reread something in a Victorian novel because I mistook a simple "my dear" or "beloved" to mean the character was in love.

Whether you use tumblr or not isn't really relevant. I don't follow any staff members. Like I said, Rah just reblogged a post I made, so that's how I saw the confirmation.

If you don't care about the NPCs, that's fine. It still goes back to my point of it's alright if you don't ship them, just don't deny the canon that they are actually a couple. That's when things start getting gross and iffy.

Did you consider that some of us girls aren't straight either, and that we're excited for Jaxian because it opens the door to other same sex/queer relationships, including f/f? Because that's definitely part of what I care about.

I am not implying that at all. I am implying that it makes me feel uncomfortable because that is how it seems from the incredibly vitriol commentary that feels (this is my personal feeling) that someone is doing on my behalf.

(And if anyone out here actually cares about social justice I have a wee tip. Volunteer at a legal clinic and the like; directly fight for the underrepresented and disenfranchised.)

I LOVE the faces and art for both of them. In fact, I was kind of hoping we would see a full-size revamp for them both... but sadly, that wasn't the case (as in, Ian's art is still old at the Genetech lab). I look forward to seeing those revamps though, since they both look great now!

Oh, and FYI, on the subject of Jaxian: This isn't new. They were confirmed back in 2010 when people were shipping Manwar and Nico during Epicon. People were saying 'there is no representation for non-hetero couples' and it was confirmed then that Jaxon and Ian were together. However, it was so long ago, I think we all forgot! lol I remembered Jaxon was confirmed homosexual, but couldn't remember if it was Ian who was his significant other... clearly, that was the case. So basically, staff was just reminding us about this, and doing some story building for the NPCs. (Also, yay for them being together that long even though Jaxon is a ghost!) Regardless, I think it is cute how it was presented. Especially considering how their personalities are supposed to be... the subtle-ness seems appropriate. :3 I hope we have a continuation of this plot next year, so we can see these two adorable boys some more... and get more updated art for them. The plots are a great device for art updates for NPCs!

The only person that called someone homophobic on here was , not me. My comments towards Snob were 100% directed at his 'get a life' comment, which was an asshole thing to say.

I care about Jaxian because the two are cute together, and I'm not straight. The representation matters to me. And yes, you did imply that the only reason I care is because I'm a girl and on tumblr. It completely erased every girl that happens to care because they aren't straight, and it's important that they get to see a same sex relationship.

And I have a wee tip for you. Not everyone has the ability to volunteer. I don't even know what a legal clinic is. Saying this makes you come off very patronizing and arrogant.
