Very true! I like the blacklight pets but I've always thought having them in the same pose just didn't seem to be enough for a potion pet. Even though this is just a small change I think it helps give them individuality :)

I'm worried this would make me want a matched pair xD I'd need more slots!

But if the point is to make them opposites then it would make sense to have them mirrored. Where black is white, white is black and where one is left the other is right. This would make them stand out a bit more as a unique pet rather than just recolors. I could see how this might upset those who have already designed their blacklight pets around the way they are now. The Charlie, Dillema and Warador would also have side specific traits switched.

I think mirrored color patterns, like the Archan's green/blue eye and paw makings would be great.
Physical traits like species specific one sided markings, that are the same across every other color variation make less sense to suddenly be different for the blacklight.
[edit] I notice that the nuclear and the sweetheart have some variation on the pattern of the marking on the Kumos, but the position is still consistent, so I don't know if that could be considered an existing exception.

That's true I guess. Well its an interesting idea so maybe they could tweek those pets if they do decide to do it :) They would be pretty small changes actually if it's only those five.

I think that's a pretty neat idea, actually! Yin/yang, very cool.

I like this idea! I do think it's a bit odd that for two species completely different, they have the same pose.

I think this is an awesome idea, however I think now it might be too late to implement it. If someone doesn't have a matching set then this might ruin the pet they already have, and I don't think this is quite the same as a revamp. This idea would work very well if someone just did a flipped overlay of the pet at least.

Some of them look really neat when flipped side by side, really liking the Warador like that for some reason.

While I like how they look flipped, this is something easily done with overlays. It's not like when they revamped the Darkonite and some other pets for the worse or the fact that there's no solid theme within the Sun color... Just flip the image in imgur and use an overlay code.

I think you could even do this with CSS if you wanted.

As neat as mirrored pairs would be, if my blacklight telenine was suddenly flipped it'd mess up my pet order. xD Plus, some pets have specific markings on specific sides, so I can't see it working without some redraws.

I have a theory as to why the mirrored images look "weird" to people, and it's not just due to (lack if) familiarity:

These pictures were drawn with pet poses facing a specific way. There will be tiny flaws that people just sort of accept as part of the drawing. Upon flipping them, our brains are suddenly faced with what we process as a brand new drawing and we look at them again with fresh eyes. Since the novelty appeal of a newly released pet isn't making us as excited, chances are we'll look at them closer. And suddenly, new flaws are popping up.

My theory, anyway.

Your first example illustrates the problem with this: not all pets are symmetrical. Every kumos has a moon scar thing over its left eye and not its right, and with this change the blacklight would have the opposite.

Thats the point though, the Spectrum and Blacklight are supposed to be opposites so I don't see a problem in the Blacklight having its moon marking over its other eye.

I personally don't see an issue with this, opposite or not and it'd be a pretty simple edit to do in a image editing program.

That said, with the thing about people complaining about positions of markings I think that actually makes sense given the fact that spectrum and blacklight are in some way supposed to be opposites of each other.

I kind of see it in the same way as mirrored twins in real life, which are otherwise identical except for the fact that discerning features are often on opposites sides in said mirrored twins.
