I have to take a licence test tomorrow to get my drivers licence and I'm SO nervous, this is the scariest thing I've ever done. So subeta, I ask you, what's the scariest thing you've ever had to do?
Good luck with your test. crosses fingers for you
Unfortunately irl I'm a very timid person by nature and even everyday events that others don't even notice can make me switch to panic mode so naming the scariest thing I ever had to do is next to impossible for me, my life literally is like a never-ending stress test for me. ^^;
Thank you! Oh my god, that sounds awful D: I would explode if my life were like that, I already get very mentally unstable when faced with stress for an extended period of time.
It's not the most pleasant way to live but I think over time you get used to it in a weird way. I am usually quite good at hiding it from others as well so it's mostly an internal war.
Word of advice - buckle your seatbelt before you start the car. I don't know where you live but in some places, like here in Pennsylvania, depending on who's riding with you, that can be an automatic fail. You'll do just fine if you remember that. c:
I hate pulling double shifts that start in the early-ish morning - it makes me very apprehensive the night before and I normally don't sleep right then. I've yet to figure out how people manage the 9-5 days. I'd die but I understand why coffee is such a huge business now, omg.

This might not help you at all, but what helps me when I'm nervous about a specific thing is to imagine the worst possible thing that could realistically happen, you don't pass the test, and then acknowledge that even IF that does happen, which it probably won't, you'll still be alive and fine and life will go on and you can just try again. Then do the opposite and imagine yourself passing with flying colors, and just focus all your energy on that outcome.
It might seem like a REALLY HUGE DEAL right now but even IF you don't pass the first time, eventually you will, and you will look back and think, "What was I so afraid of??"
To answer your question, taking my drivers test (at age 22, haha) was one of the scariest things I've ever done. I was shaking so hard that the tester made me stop halfway through and take a breather. I passed on my first try though, so there's some encouragement for you! Maybe he was just unusually nice, but I think he could tell I was just nervous about the test and not actually a bad driver.
More recently, I've been going to the doctor to get medical issues sorted out, and I had to get several blood tests done for the first time ever, and get vaccinations for the first time since I was 4. They had me lie down on a table so if I freaked out I wouldn't hurt myself. Even going to the doctor the very first time, just to talk with her and nothing else, was so scary for me I was fighting off a panic attack the entire time, and I cried the whole time my fiance was driving me home.
Yay, anxiety.
🐧🐧
Good luck with your test :)
scariest thing I ever had to do? give birth! yaaahhh that was a wee bit nerve racking especially since it didnt go smoothly and we both could have died eek
glad to say it turned out fine though
Driving test were very scary though I didnt pass first time but looking back it didnt matter I got there in the end.
I live in Australia so seatbelts are like second nature to me, but thanks for the advice c:
Thank you, I'm pretty sure I'll pass but there is always the risk that I'll do something really dumb haha I'm also getting my licence at 22, yay for us late bloomers :D
Thank you! Birth would be terrifying, I'm not looking forward to having to do that at some point in my life
Then all the more I can say is best of luck. <3

Oh gosh I was a mess before my road test. I mean hysterical crying and all. It ended up going great and I was so proud of myself for getting past the panic :3 good luck to you! You'll do great, I'm sure :)
My scariest thing was getting surgery whilst being awake. It was an emergency situation and although they numbed me I still felt a lot of the pain (my resistance to numbing agents is abnormally high). But I'm happy I went through it. My health would be in poor shape today if I hadn't.
Oh wow, that does sound terrifying :O I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Was the pain very severe?
I've also had a scary experience with conscious surgery, though I didn't feel any pain during the actual operation. The unpleasant part was the spinal injection, catheter, and painful aftermath which medication barely dented ... sooooo uncomfortable!

It was pretty intense. I can say the pain was on a whole other level than what I had ever felt before, for sure. I mean, I know there must be much more painful things to go through out there, but that was definitely on top of the list. I'm so sorry you had to go under the knife like that too D: it's never a fun experience...especially when pain meds aren't doing their job during recovery. (They gave me some ultra-mega strong medication when I recovered from the operation so I thankfully didn't have that issue.)
I hate cockroaches so the scaries thing for me to do is when my boss asks me to go to the hospital's warehouse to get something because there's always dead cockroaches all over the place. Iuk!

That's just horrific! I can't even imagine what it must have been like, I would have totally freaked out if it were me. I can't think of many things more painful than that D:
I'm glad you were able to get some decent meds afterwards, though! I wasn't given the stronger ones because of other health conditions, but thankfully the pain lessened a lot after a few days.

I remember screaming bloody murder a lot. They probably heard me at the other end of the hospital. I can't say I remember what it felt like though, my brain probably blocked it out. I'm a little phobic of anything to do with the medical field now lol with reason. Good to know your pain went away quickly. Still, a few days sounds really uncomfortable! I actually hate taking meds but I was happy to have those strong ones in that case. I can't imagine how horrible recovery would've been without them.
Ugh I hate cockroaches too! Any other bug I can handle. But stick me in a room with cockroaches and I'll probably die xD
Wow, that is why I could never be a surgeon o_o I read a nightmare account of a woman who needed an immediate emergency C-section, before they could anaesthetise her properly ... I don't know how doctors manage to keep up the surgery with a person in great pain beneath them. I wonder if they're shaken by it afterwards.
Lol, I am JUST the same with my phobia of medical stuff! I can't even watch House now without wincing all the time, haha.

I think so. The doctor who did the procedure apologized so many times afterwards. I just thanked her for saving me years and years of pain down the road. With perspective, my 30 minutes of agony was really worth it. I'm glad she made the call. I'm sure it wasn't easy to do.
Lol that show gives me the creeps! I can't even go see my family doctor without getting sweaty palms now lol
Awww, that is a really good perspective to have! I'm sure she really appreciated your thanks.
Here's to us feeling less anxious about doctor appointments in the future! xD
[tot=Avery]
Thanks :3 I really didn't want her to feel guilty over it. Haha yes. Here's to happier doctor visits xD
Dealing with waking up in the ICU is quite scary and all I could think of doing was bursting into tears and sobbing to my surgeon team that they promised I would feel better after my appendix operation and they lied to me...
