In a way, it's true you're paying a premium buying from other users, but what if the item's still unavailable or too expensive? For example, Freezewand of Doom (none in shops or trades).
Yeah, the PQuill should stay all year. I'm sure people will be very happy if it remains the same affordable price like before.
This + the fact that many items end up becoming unavailable on the market (think of lesser desirable wears too) makes me think having them on the actual shop (within categories of course) for a higher price would be a better idea ^^
I totally think the P-Quill should stay there year round.
That said I'm unsure of how I feel about the off-season idea as a whole. I mean the whole point of the rotating stock was to get sP out of the system, and if you can buy the item year round.. why do it now?
Like, I typically mutter and sell csc to buy all of the MC books because I know myself well enough that if I don't do it ASAP I'm probably going to forget and I might end up having to wait until next year to buy them. But, if I know during their season the books are 5m and the off-season they're 7.5m then.. pft I can procrastinate until I have nothing else more pressing I care about (like event/plot related items I'm going to need extra sP to make sure I get, or Pirate stuff, or too many CS/CWs and I don't have the spare csc to sell, etc). It kinda defeats the purpose of creating a means of taking sP out of the system.
That said, I would think that should mostly apply to non-weapons. Because like, my Mom had gotten into battling (or is working on it..) and she really could have used a RIWoD when her pet's hit Tier 6, but neither part of that wand was in the MC so I spent like two hours one afternoon trudging through weapons trying to find her some stuff to buy. One never knows when one might need a weapon, or when someone decides to get into battling. Sure they could wait, but plots/events don't wait either so ahhh I would be in support of being able to buy off-season weapons for like a (ex: 25%) higher cost, but nothing else.
We ( and I) can surely look into changing the quill to become a constant year around item, and will talk with about what other weapons she feels should be constant, but we are not going to change the set up from rotation seasonally overall.
With the way the shop works right now, it gives us a good schedule of releasing new items on four days a year that everyone knows about, so everyone knows when things will be rotated out. The rotation forces you to make decisions about what you want to save up for in that particular season or risk waiting until next year, which is something we’ve stated we want users to do. We want you to prioritize the items you want from a given holiday (or in this case shop). If you can’t afford something this season, put it on your wish list to save up for next year, or make that your first purchase in the coming year.
I agree with the Admins taking the lead on this and making decisions.
This doesn't relate to the MC, but I'm intrigued by the idea of having a seasonal/monthly, premium/discount set of shops.... Like in December, Avalanche Emporium could be 25% off? Then in January, Beach Shack could be 25% (because vacations, you know?) Or apply it to different shops, new shops, whatever.
