I actually find this irritating. Let me explain. Hypothetical situation: I look up the pet name Anna and find that she's in the pound, she has been created today which means she has the highest ID possible. Now for me to adopt Anna I would need to get a spare pet slot as well as a gold account and then do the name swap on top of it all because I already have the perfect name/colour/ID. Whereas if she was just inactive, all I would need to do is the name change.
GA 500 csc, Pet name swap 750 csc, Pet slot 1000 csc = 2250 csc vs 500 csc name change
I would think this would construe spam in a way and in others, better in the pound than on an inactive account.

While everyone makes some good points here, I DO agree with Galadriel. I mean, yea, there's nothing we can do about it, but when someone purposefully MASS PRODUCES pets specifically to flood the pound with.... that's quite annoying. Perhaps a solution to remedy this is to put a time limit on pet creations. (Nothing too absurd, maybe only one pet per hour or something.) Granted, we have no way of knowing if it is a single person, or if there are just a bunch of strangers coincidentally abandoning pets on the same day they created them.
On the other hand, I am one of those people who (when I have a pet slot available) will adopt a well-named pet to foster and zap until it becomes something awesome and then abandon again for someone else to find and love to bits, but unless I get extremely lucky on the first zap or something, I NEVER abandon a pet the same day I got it; the cooldown on the zappers usually causes me to foster a pet for several days. Which leads me back to being annoyed at the flood of pets in the pound the same day they are created. I can only HOPE it's just a coincidence, and not actually a single person trying to be "helpful".
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Why can't there be restriction on the pet creation and abandonment, like say not being allowed to abandon a pet for at least 48 hours? And if you abandon a pet,you can't create or adopt another for at least a few days?Neopets did enforce a time restriction on creating and abandoning pets, because of the problem with people dumping pets with spammy names into the pound.
I think we need similar enforcements because I suspect the same thing maybe happening here, either out of spite or they have too much time on their hands.Either ways,I think the staff really needs to look into this, and make sure it isn't being done on purpose by either a single person or a group of individuals.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Idk I can't say I have a problem with the pound at all?
Like, the main complaint is people might have been waiting or saving up for it, but at any given moment the user who's account that is might log on anyways. Or someone else might find it and create it themselves and keep it. So really the moral of this story is: if you find a name you want, jump on it because if you snooze you might lose. And if you have no slots and have no wiggle room for making space, it's best not to look for names/rummage the pound. I know that sucks because that's a spot i'm typically living in but if I know I like all my pet names and all my IDs, I just put my blinders on. It's easier than having anxiety of how I can magically make room for a new thing, or worrying about what other people can or cannot do.
