I understand, but you have to try to reach out again since it seems like one of the few options left anymore.

You should broach the subject of a possible general anxiety/social phobia disorder with your doctors/therapists. The treatment for anxiety is different from depression. If you feel that you eating disorder stems from your anxieties, naturally the thing to do is to tackle your anxiety and hopefully your symptoms will lessen. If you want to tackle social anxiety on your own, you can read and apply this very long blog post of mine to your life. When you do the exercises that are brought up within the blog post, keep in mind your habit of over-eating in anxious situations so that you can keep better tabs on it. If awareness doesn't help lessen your eating compulsion, you should bring it up with a professional :3

As for me, when I get anxious I get so distressed that I will experience nausea and sometimes vomiting, so eating is a no-go xD However, when I am happy, I tend to indulge more on food. I also indulge more on food around people I am comfortable with more as just a social thing lol. Which isn't often. Socialising? Pff.

Yeah...... I'll try...

That makes sense... Thanks,I'll bookmark that link now so I don't forget to read it when I have time.

Sometimes even is I feel nauseous I'll eat to distract me from the people ; ___ ; Usually if I'm around friends and I'm happy (which is rare) I'll actually eat a normal amount of food. I hate socializing ; ___ ; I'm not a very social person...

I think it makes sense to do what said, getting help for my other problems first, since that would probably lessen my ED problem.

I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I suffer bad agoraphobia. It started off like you...eating when with people and not eating at all/eating a dry slice of toast when im on my own. I literally had to force myself to eat it too. Now its at the stage where I cant eat out, even if I'm with friends/family...I become faint/dizzy and have all the symptoms of a heart attack when I'm around people/in a public place BUT oddly this only effects me during the day. I can go out and be with lots of strangers at night and be fine =/. I figured it is due to self-confidence, body image and my fears of both being alone and dying. When one of those negative thoughts hits me when im out in public by myself thats it...I completely lose control of my head and my stomach with it :(

Maybe you need to get help too? :( Do any of your friends or family know what you're going through? I don't know...I'm about to get help probably later today... I just can't stand living like this anymore...

I'm currently receiving CBT to help me deal with. Medication made me A LOT worse so I quickly stopped taking it. Yes most of my family and friends know about it (the main people if you know what I mean). Let me know how things work out for you. :D Recently its been a lot better since I moved back to live nearer to my family. Have you recently had a big change in your life thats triggered this 'episode' off?

Agree with what said about CBT. CBT should be done regardless of medications. If the medications and the CBT work together, wonderful. If medications don't work, say on the CBT.

CBT is cognitive-behavioural therapy. It is a psychological therapy aimed at improving quality of life and addressing problems in a productive way. If you go to see someone about it, then you want to make sure that they are trained in CBT before you go to them. They will be best suited to help you deal with these issues you are discussing.

Yeah I've heard of people doing that, I've heard of a lot of different anxious habits people have. For example mine is grinding my teeth and biting the skin around my nails. And I'm the exact opposite of you, when I'm anxious I eat nothing. I'm not even hungry. Plus if I'm panicking I usually can't keep food down. But meanwhile when I'm depressed I eat everything.

Yeah.. My boyfriend also bites the skin around his nails, idk if he does it because he's anxious though When I'm REALLY panicking, like about to have a panic attack,I can't even usually move,I become paralyzed and I start hyperventilating and usually pass out :(

I also crack one of my knuckles constantly, like I never stop... I'll even do it if it's swollen and sore idk why...

That's how I am with my teeth grinding. I do it to the point that my jaw hurts, sometimes it even starts locking.

It can be, I had to go to the dentist to get it fixed once cause I couldn't even open my mouth all the way. And my mouth is small enough as it is, it was so bad that I couldn't even get a sandwich into my mouth. And in the morning it would be locked shut, I'd have to rub the sides of my jaw to get it to loosen up.

What did the dentist do to help? I've never experienced lockjaw,so I don't really know too much about it.

He gave me this, I forget what it's called. Kind of like a retainer that I hard to wear every night until my jaw went back to normal, which fortunately didn't take long.

CBT helped my tremendously, it changes your way of thinking and will help improve the amount of negative thoughts you get :)
