Oh man, I'm your age, and I avoided getting my wisdom teeth out when they told me to my senior year of highschool because I didn't want to deal with it... I had one that was turned at an angle, and though I didn't think anything of it at the time, it started trapping bacteria and eventually became SUPER painful-- like, to the point where I was living off of painkillers 24/7. So I went to get assessed to have it removed this past summer, and it turned out that not only did the wisdom tooth need removing (as well as the other 3, which weren't bothering me at the moment but were straight pulls, so eh, why not), but having it sit so close to my back molar had ruined THAT tooth too. So after getting the wisdom teeth pulled, I had to heal up, then get a root canal on that back molar, let it heal, then get a crown lengthening done (basically, they surgically removed part of my gums/jawbone in the back of my mouth next to my tooth, since the messed up part of the tooth was beneath the original gumline), and now I'm in the middle of letting THAT heal for a month before I head back mid-November to finally get my crowns put on and put an end to this whole mess, jeez.
Yeah, if they tell you to get your teeth pulled, don't wait til you're 24 and in pain to do it! LOL.

When I hear stuff like this, It makes me really sad because I know personally how painful things like that can be. I really hope for your safety that the infection doesn't go into your teeth. Hopefully the treatment will keep you safe.
The first root canal she ever got the dentist messed up really bad. The thing I've found out is when it comes to dentists, you get what you pay for. So if you get a "cheap budget" dentist, you have a very high chance of a poor outcome. My mother ended up getting blood poisoning and was in the hospital for a week and a week after going to the hospital every 8 hours for um I can't remember if it was a transfusion or just a cleaning, I'm really not sure. I just know she got really really sick. I don't want to scare you, but it's no joke :( I've personally never had bad dental work though, if that's any help, I think her problem was she needed the root canal done as an emergency and went for the first dentist she could find.
lol see I'm not the only one! I'm worried about what they might say about my teeth, I get a consultation on Tuesday =x
Oh man, good luck! I know it can be daunting, so I hope your dentist is gentle and gives you plenty of options to choose from. <3

Now,I'm really afraid Q.Q My last dentist was a butcher..And I went to a place that is really good, but they don't take my mom insurrance. So I'm trying the same place as my little brother,no choice..
You've gotta be really careful. I mean fillings and cleaning I guess those are ok, but you wanna make sure you go to someone legit for anything else. I don't want to scare you, but my mom is scaring me xD I have to go to calgary which is like 3 hours away from me because no one in town is a specialist >.>
Well,he's a surgeon dentist..so I guess it's alright(I hope) :x Damn,it's far o.o!
Well, If he's a surgeon.. I think you should be fine :P They kinda /have/ to be good lol!
i got my wisdom teeth out at the end of august. i've been putting it off for years because i didn't want to get it done or deal with the pain lol.
two of my teeth were practically in all the way and the other two were just about there so it wasn't that difficult for my dentist to just do a few extractions.
everything went really well for me and i was eating solid food the next day ahah. my holes haven't completely closed, but i don't get food stuck in them anymore at least.

good luck!! I'm sorry you've had to experience this :(
My dentist actually told me 2 years ago that I had a single wisdom tooth that was just barely visible on the bottom corner of my xray and that I'd probably have to get mine removed soon... that single tooth has since disappeared from my xrays and ofc I've never had them removed, so I'm really confused, to say the least.
The guy does even make brooch and everything.. I really think I should be fine xD I hope you'll be fine as well.I think they are going to take mine off as well,or just 2 molar ^^' Let me know about it,I want to know how it went if you don't mind.
Disappeared? Your tooth is hiding xD
I think you got a bit lucky, My dentist mentioned because I have TMJ it might take twice as long for me to heal. And what do you mean food /stuck/ in them? sounds gross and painful lol
Np, I'll totally let you know. I find out details Tuesday =x Lets hope we are both fortunate in this
how you were years ago is basically how I am now lol. I know I should get them out but I'm too nervous about it + I have no money ;n; I remember my dentist did an x-ray and showed me my wisdom teeth and they're impacted like perfectly horizontal and he's like "uhh you will probably want those out eventually" sighs
lol it was! he just pulled my teeth out so it left a hole where the tooth used to be, and when i ate things like rice and noodles they would get... stuck in the holes and i'd have to take a syringe and squirt water to wash it out lol

lmao come out, come out, wherever you areeee, tooth! Although if it wants to stay hidden and never need to be taken out I'd be perfectly fine with that too.
Yeah, he's like "They are going to impact, should get them out sooner rather than later" back then I had just lost my insurance >.> It's so painful, trust me don't let it go til your my age lol
ew ew, omg. Thank goodness you didn't get dry socket =x
You should name it Waldo xD that way whenever people ask about your wisdom teeth just tell them he's missing lol
My dentists let my wisdom teeth come in before the pulled them. u_u So I had to deal with all the stupid teething pain and THEN get them removed. So yeah they were pretty much all the way exposed by the time I got 'em pulled out. The dentists didn't suggest getting 'em removed before then though, just that they, in general, needed to be removed before I was an adult.
Yes, his gums bled quite a lot - may be due because his impacted teeth, at least one, was close to a vein in his mouth. He also had to replace his gauze every few hours (or sooner), with ice reapplied every other 20 minutes for the next 24 (non-sleeping) hours.(i.e. 20 minutes ice, 20 min. no ice, 20 min. ice, and so on and so forth.) It was only about a month or two ago. (My BF is 24 years old.)
Yes, the pulling of the teeth - along with braces, including permanent bottom braces - have helped my teeth positioning very much. I was 12 at the time of the procedure; I barely remember much but I know that whatever they gave me was less strong than what they gave my BF for his surgery, because I was fully aware after I woke up. However, they did use a lot of Novocaine and my entire face/mouth was numb. I panicked (anxiety/panic from waking up to all that numbness) and messed up my bottom lip a bit with blood/biting too hard to try and regain sensation. Afterward my bottom lip healed in fine with no scar/mark.
Yep, I do have "a lot of spit", as my orthodontist put it, lol. Thankfully I've had no issues yet, though my orthodontist did remark that I had "the most spit of almost any kid he'd seen".
And jaw breaking? That sounds terrifying! :O

They really can't remove them from under the gums because they'd have to rip pretty deep if they aren't growing yet. It's more-so for your benefit to skip /some/ of the unneeded pain.
They were telling me about the rotating gauze thing, that sounds like so much work and pain. I feel like I'd be sleeping 12+ hours if I'm in that much pain =x
I don't know why they wouldn't have given you more than him, I mean if you are usually anxious they should make it so you don't have that chance of doing that, I mean.. It's good you bit your lip, cuz the bad turn out could've been your tongue right?
lol, I guess you don't chew much gum with your saliva like it is then? I know gum always gives me a lot of saliva
Yea, He wouldn't let them do it, but /appreantly/ that's how they fix it =x
That sucks :( My mom never had hers taken out and never had a problem... I guess it's just luck. Mine haven't even started growing in.
I had braces for 7 years and they caused one of my permanent canines to grow in weird, so I had to have surgery to fix it. Instead of just removing it (like they did for my older sister- she had the same problem on both sides) they decided it would be easier to glue a chain to it and pull it into place with elastic string. Worst 2 years of my life. And, after only a few months of that, the bracket that the chain was attached to came off of my canine so they had to go back and fix it. It never did heal right; there's still a hole behind that canine that bleeds all the time :/
