lol. Once, years ago, my grandpa called me up in a rage. He was screaming and yelling that I left a needle in his front yard, and I needed to get down there right away. I did. It was an ink syringe. I laughed. If you've never seen one, it's a really huge syringe, made obviously -not- for human use.

I get irritated with people who freak out when I need my shot. I lost my temper on a friend's little sister once, "Okay then, I'm so sorry this is gross to you. Here. I'll just not take it, and in a few hours, I'll just be dead. Just for you, because you're grossed out, I'll just die on your kitchen floor. Is that what you want?" She was 9 at the time, so she believed me that I'd be dead within a few hours.

Parents, especially moms, are kind of terrible with a child's self-esteem and weight issues. I'm so sorry that was said to you! My mom wouldn't say things to my face, she would go to my dad who would feel so guilty that she said something about my weight, that he would tell me what she said.

go grandpa lol.

Most of my friends are scared of needles, some are fasinated by it and watch closely as I inject myself with my insulin. I say all the power to them and if they dont like it, then suck it up and piss off. Its not their life condition that they have to live with so why should they care so much as to even be around when its being done.

Mmmmhmm it is harsh when a mother does that, and she still talks about it.. though now she is giving me her pants cause she is loosing weight due to her being sick and depressed. well thanks mom but i dont want your pants... she also tells me " can you find a pair of pants, if they dont fit you then let me know and i will take them" ... okay mom keep telling me i am fat, go one keep it up. : / moms

I wish I could and I can't tell you the brand name or anything since me and my aunt are not on speaking terms right now, but with a bit of Google's help I'm sure you'd find someone that made them so you can order some if you choose. I've been preping all day for my colonoscopy, I'm going to be so happy when its done so I can actually eat normal foods! all I have now are gummy bears. I know after this I won't want gummy bears anymore for a long while.

Awe, I bet he loves his ice cream when he can have it. And yes pasta is the one thing i gotta stay away from too, its too starchy and id rather melba toast and things like that with meals, or even potatoes do the trick.

hopefully, but I tend to be a snoop and find everything out. I hate secrets or sneaky moves but it would be worth it. (:

ALSO, my surgery did really well. they found sores in my intestines so we have to wait a couple of weeks to get the lab results back. been feeling nausated today, so haven't really been eating much.

Awe well at least the tests were alright. and pretty soon you will be able to eat so you wont be so nausated. i hate feeling that way it sucks.

Is an insulin pump an option for you? My brother has Type 1 and his insulin pump essentially allows him to eat whatever he wants, whenever he wants, so long as he has a fairly general idea of the carbs. I don't know where you are in the world, but in Ontario, my brother's pump is covered provided he keeps his average blood sugar within a certain range and comes in for regular check-ups... and the range is very broad ;) It also reduces injections significantly. Instead of several injections a day, you set up one "site" every three days or so, and the insulin just gets carried in automatically.

Ive been asked about it a lot. When I was in ontario I was being harassed by my doctor about getting an insulin pump. I kept saying no because I thought it would be to different for me since I am 22 and not just starting off like every other young diabetic. Its hard getting into the carb counting, currently I have no job so buying the correct food is hard and in my house there is a lot of things that have high carbs in them. Mainly we have starches lying around. But of course I can ask about it by my new diabetic doctor just in case it is still an option. I think it might be easier too but of course i am taking 2 different insulins, so I am sure that one would be in the pump and I would just have to manually inject the other when the time comes for that injection.

Actually, my brother doesn't take any extra injections. He was taking two kinds as well. The pump works by administering small amounts of the fast-acting throughout the day, and then it gives you extra around mealtimes to correct for the carbs you've taken in. That way, you don't need the two kinds of insulin, just the one :) I'm not an expert, but if you have any random questions about the pump and how it works, feel free to ask! I haven't lived it firsthand, but my brother has had it for years now, and I've got a reasonable understanding of how it works, some of the perks and quirks, etc.
