Someone mentioned blocking users because their posts are annoying or other - relatively trivial - reasons. It might be nice if there was an 'ignore' function, private to yourself, where you could automatically minimize other people's posts on the forums, so that you'd know they were there but wouldn't have to see them unless you really wanted to. ...yes, I know that you can scroll past them, but some people are lazy.

Not sure if that would help with the initial issue or not, but it might minimize the number of blocks for 'petty' reasons.

I think an ignore feature as well as the block feature would be awesome. But I do want the alert to be left there when someone blocks you. I got blocked (for a petty reason no less :p) by a very active user, and without the alert, I'd have probably pinged her half a dozen times by now.

Yep, I totally agree with you. blocking someone should be kept a private thing because i very much agree that sending the notification that you blocked someone just adds fuel to the fire.

... Not really because I'm too lazy to scroll past them, or because some users are notorious for irrelevant/agitating posting? But because I really effing hate gifs, like a lot. Or, at least most of them |D; Animals doing cute things, or lulzy stuff I can handle, but so many anime/random people/clips from movies or games or music videos I know nothing about/stuff that weirds me out/etc etc are just annoying and distracting. Honestly I try to adblock them usually (I probably have like 100 tinyurl/pic links, easy) but users DO seem to love rotating forumsets e__e

Honestly I've been tempted to block people just to kill the gifs |D; Though the before mentioned reasons are pretty legit, too.

Ignore for just forums = would be awesome.

I'm glad this was done. I rarely block people, but I definitely don't need any extra drama created it over it. And even if people do deserve to be blocked, the notification they get just seems like an unnecessary slap to the face to be bitter about.
