I know plenty of people at my school who are racist (maybe without knowing it?) but I can't tell you if I'm racist or not D: I would like to think not, but yeah, maybe I just don't know it...
Because I'm half-Ashkenazi, half-Hispanic, I've gotten my share of racial slurs, but I haven't been physically hurt (yet.) Mostly, I just walk away, and ignore it.
As sad as it is, I agree. I'm not going to discriminate against someone just because of where they come from or what color their skin is but I do think that Black women are awesome, Asians are like WHOAH smart, and Hispanic ladies are impossibly beautiful. Just all as general rules, and I make exceptions. (Except to the first and last one xD I have yet to meet a non-awesome Black woman or an ugly Hispanic lady.)
i'd also like to point out that being aware of racial differences and understanding that certain differences can either be beneficial or detrimental to a circumstance is racist. racism doesn't necessarily imply that a person needs to be negatively discriminated based on the color of their skin.
i'm certainly not going to sit here and say that everyone is a winner at everything. it's completely based on the individual and their particular genetics in many cases. to acknowledge a particular race's natural abilities over another race is racism... but is that negative?

I live in a very racist country (Australia), and I hate it. We brag about our Aussie spirit, but we are no better than everyone else. Just look at the way we treat / treated Aboriginals.
I try not to be racist, besides the fact I hate most white people :p. Generally, the Asians I've met are much nicer people than white people... but I guess that's still being racist. Gah, I can't think tonight, but I agree that there are probably no true non-racist people. Even the best of us sometimes look twice at people who look different.
hmm respond with 2 pages of social commentary based in my issues in multicultural ed. class or link to an amusing video from the lion king dubbed over with relevant song lyrics from Avenue Q....
haha i was going to start seeing the everyones a little bit racist song too. honestly, i'm not racist a bit. color is nothing to me.
i'll laugh and tell jokes from time to time, but theyre just jokes. i've been discriminated against both by mexicans because i'm not as dark as them, and nonmexicans for being part hispanic. my grandpa often tells me i "need more color" but whatever i just dont even care.
I hate to admit it, but Im slowly starting to get racist. Im starting to see why people are racist. I have so many examples that it would take up so much space. I hate the fact that Im starting to turn this way but I cant really change that at all.
I guess it could be the fact, I've lived near cities and more then half the crimes are done by African Americans and the fact that my roommates all have been AA and things never went well :(
Im a mixed mutt when it comes to my background 8-9 different European bloods x3. I'm not sure if someone has been towards me. If so, it probably went in one ear and out the outer. I'm also in a interracial relationship :3 Surprisingly he can be racist to his own kind
I am racist.
I always judge people by their skin or what country they come from to some extent. That way, you can only be pleasantly surprised. When I see a group of coloured people loudly roaming the streets at night, be the Ethiopean, Morrocan, or a mix of all sorts of nationalities, I'll walk around them in a big wide arc. Preferably, I'd enter a sidestreet to avoid them altogether.
Why? Because the stereotype says it's 'unsafe', and stereotypes aren't stereotypes if they don't hold when you look at the majority of people.
When I have a black friend, and something gets stolen, I am not automatically going to look at him because black people still things, ebcause I know him. but experience has taught me that you are more likely to be robbed by a colored person than by a white dutch caucasian. (i livenin the netherlands.)
there is nothing wrong with racism, as long as you know when and where you can useit appropriately.
I'm rather more judging when it comes to how they dress :/ if you're in gangsta mode then trust me, I'll be avoiding you, regardless of race. If you look neat and nice then I don't care.
I understand that it's probably awfully judgmental of me, but that's what experience has taught me, I guess.
I'm in sweden btw. In the snowiest of white areas :P
THEY CAN'T BREAK YOU IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SPINE
I'm somewhat racist in that I make race jokes but it's not in all seriousness. I don't actually think black people eat only chicken or that the french are all surrendermonkeys. I'm also cool with people making jokes about me being a stolid azn who speaks engrish and eats anything remotely digestible.
:P I think jokes make light of silly racist views so people take them less seriously, kinda like satire. I'd gladly make friends with people of various ethnicities.
I try not to be a racist, but sometimes, you just can't avoid making a racial comment. Okay, sometimes I laugh at 'racist' jokes but deep inside, I feel some guilt when laughing at them. (Does that count being a racist? :|) I don't want to discriminate people just because of their 'skin color' or their 'race' and I totally don't want to be discriminated because of my race. If you are aware, my race is often discriminated, and I am getting sick of it ... kinda. But I'm used to them so I just ignore those comments.
I'm not sure where you are in Arizona, but we have plenty of black people here.
I can surely say I am not racist to any type of person. Sure I can point out hey this person is Chinese, German, African American...but that's not being racist.
The one group of people that makes me cautious is the elitist white skinheads. People that hate other people just because of nationality and are willing to fuck you up because of it are dangerous. period.
I wouldn't call myself a racist, but I am an equal opportunity hater. Meaning, you have to do something to piss me off in order for me not to like you.
And I truly believe that everyone is a tiny bit racist
There is nothing 'racist' about laughing at racist jokes. if a joke is funny, you laugh. idc if its about jews, horses, or polar bears, or black people and watermelons.
It depends on how you're defining racism. Some people think it's racist to just notice that a person is black or Asian or whatever. That if you're not 'colorblind', you're racist. So by that definition, everyone is racist. If you mean hating people of races other than your own... that's a different story.
I try to be tolerant of everyone I meet, and I think I tend to succeed at not being racist to a high extent. However, I have laughed at racist jokes, and I'll be the first to admit I'm still quite ignorant to other cultures (but I am ALWAYS willing to learn about them before deciding how I feel). But, I'm not afraid of other races, I don't cross the street to avoid walking passed an african-american or mexican, and I'm willing to be friends with anyone of any race, religion, or whatever so long as they are a decent person.
I think there are good and bad people no matter what race or religion, and I agree with Galena that we're all humans. There isn't any race out there that hasn't f***ed up at some point in history and done something terrible, so there's just little room for judgement (unless you just hate everyone, including yourself).
I don't think I'm racist. o_o I try and treat everyone how I'd treat my self.

Depends on how you define racism. We're all ignorant about some people and cultures, and I'm sure we all stereotype to some extent. I don't really consider it racism unless you honestly hate members of a certain race because you feel that all members of that race necessarily have certain bad qualities, regardless of how or where they were raised.
I don't think it's racist to make assumptions about a person based on his skin colour or where he's from. Most of us are guilty of that. I do think it's racist to continue to hate said person solely because he's a certain race, long after personal experience has shown you that this person doesn't resemble the stereotype.
That said, I love race jokes; I think they're hilarious! And I think it's silly to be 'colour blind' in the sense that you feel there are no differences between races, because there obviously are.
I read an article some time ago about a study done on average intelligence across different races, and the comments were full of people expressing how racist the study was. I think people fail to understand that a statement such as "Race X is less intelligent on average" does not imply "John, who is Race X, must be stupid." Or, that a statement such as "more crimes have been committed by members of Race X than members of other races" doesn't necessarily mean that an individual person "Jill, is more likely to commit a crime because she is Race X," though it might (unfortunately) suggest you can avoid more incidents by avoiding Race X. I think that a lot of useless PC tiptoeing has been done because people don't understand that and are afraid that acknowledging differences means being racist.
And yeah, I've dealt with some racism, though thankfully very little! I was at an event as a child, and my mom was arguing with one of the coordinators (didn't agree with her over this). A lady pointed straight at me and said "ugh, those fucking yellows think they're so special," and glared at me until I felt so uncomfortable that I cried. It's mostly just ignorance in Europe: a lot of "Hey Japan!" and "Ni Hao" and mock-bowing in my direction, which isn't really racism.
[edit]Wow, sorry. Long post is long.
Are you racist?
Not exactly. I just don't like anyone, really, no matter what race they are.
Kind of racist?
Not saying I don't like them, but I'm actually a little afraid of black people. It isn't stemmed from up-bringing, but a lot of the black kids in my school are rude, violent, criminal, and overall scary people. I know they aren't all like that, but I tense up whenever I see a stranger that is a black person that dresses like the ones in my school. I know, don't judge a book by its cover, but I can't tell what's even IN the book until I actually read it longer than five seconds.
Have you ever dealt with racism?
No. Nobody picks on white people. .___.
That doesn't mean I don't laugh at racist jokes. Some of them are pretty good and well put together. The ones that are actually funny, that is. The stupid ones are lame.
