I would say talking loudly is more disrespectful. It disrupts the whole class and makes it harder to teach. When I fell asleep in class, I would later apologize to the teacher and explain why I fell asleep.
A Funny/ cute story. One time when I was a senior in high school, I had just broke up with my first serious boyfriend and was a mess and didn't sleep at all the night before and I had my Digital Media class first thing in the morning. I adored the teacher and he really liked me too ( in none creepy teacher- student type of way) Well, he needed to show the class how to do something on the program we were using and I told him about the night before and he told me it was ok if I put my head down and watched since he had to use the computer I was sitting at. I fell asleep by accident and when I woke up, it wasn't my class and I had his sweatshirt draped around my. Turns out, I slept for 3 straight periods and halfway through the 2nd, he said I looked cold so he gave me his sweater LOL
Both are rude. One being more rude then the other doesn't change that both are rude and disrespectful.
They are both rude, in my opinion. But since you lay down because you weren't feeling well, I find it acceptable. Although you should have mentioned to your teacher that you were sleeping because you weren't feeling well. If you didn't tell him, he might think it's disrespectful of you or that you think his teaching is a bore.
One time during class I was getting an awful headache, and it felt like something was eating my brain, so my teacher had let me lay down whenever we had breaks during class. If I hadn't have told her, she might have been slightly annoyed.
Anyways. In this situation, I think that the talkaholic would have to be more rude. She's disrupting class, and she's showing that she doesn't care if the students actually want to learn or not. Education is much more important than knowing what she does outside of school grounds, IMO. I mean really; it just shows how irresponsible she is, and that she's a bad influence. >.>
Talking because it is disruptive. I use to sleep all the time in my psychology class...and the teacher hated me for it.
Both are shitty to do.
I think both are really disrespectful. If I were a teacher and one of my students were sleeping OR talking, I'd be a big hurt that what I was saying wasn't important enough to them that they could would listen to me. True that talking is disruptive, but sleeping is just as disrespectful as talking. In my opinion.

I think it's more disrespectful to constantly chatter in class - because it affects other people. x)
btw, Obscene - I LOVE the picture in your forum text. I love Caspian. :D
Talking is a lot more disrespectful. At least when sleeping you're probably doing it because of illness like yourself and it's not actually affecting anyone except for the teacher, whereas talking could end up disrupting the whole class.
Talking is mos def more disrespectful because as others have said, it also disturbs the other students so that more people can't pay attention in class. Your sleeping only means you're not paying attention, but at least others still can. :P
I'd say talking was more disrespectful. Not only are you being disrespectful to the teacher by disregarding what they were saying you would also be disrespectful to those around you who did want to learn by disrupting the lesson.
yap. when you're sleeping, silence is wisdon.... ...=D
It's a tough one. Talking loudly can piss other people off too, and sleep wouldn't unless you were snoring or something. But sleeping kinda implies you don't care about the lesson at all. At least the loud girl would still be able to listen to what the teacher had to say.
I think talking to friends in class would be more disrespectful. If you're just sleeping you're not preventing others from being able to hear the lesson -- unless of course, you're snoring loudly.
But I must admit that I do talk to my friends a lot in class. I never sleep though. Sleeping might prove a little risky for me. I don't know what I'm going to start purring about in my sleep. ;x
i think its more disrespectful to yak about in class bacuse you could have a reason for sleeping-having a attack of inomnia late last night. :D
They're both distracting, and since I'm paying out the ass for four years of college to be a teacher, I'd probably be pretty pissed off if any of my students did that. Whenever I was in school, it seemed the sleeping kids were even more of an obstacle to the lesson, because everyone would zero in on them and start to laugh, or wait for the teacher's reaction and how they were going to deal with the situation.
I always tried to never fall asleep in school ... because I snore. Loudly. D;
