The band kids are hilarious. I was a banner holder for the marching band for their fall season and we had a parade we had to attend. Right before, my friend, who plays the big drum thing (like I know :P), wanted me to trade spots with her to see if the director would notice. We got called into attention right before we could do it though so we never got to see if he would notice or not. :(

I think that&;s because they really want to do good and play to the best of their ability whereas the rest of the band is in it for the fun and to see friends and generally goof off.

There's a point. Our flutes (well, the first chair) is/are pretty much like the unofficial drum major(s), and will probably be promoted to such. I've always wanted to play the trumpet better, it's just I don't have the attention span (STILL 3rd chair after 4 years of this?!) Most of the people are a joke, though. They don't have the dedication, nor the spirit of really wanting to preform and win, but who am I to point that out.

I play the flute for concert band and the piccolo for marching band.

Last year our theme was "Rams in Space". (Our mascot is the ram.) Songs included Also Sprach Zarathustra (Space Odessy), Chorale from Jupiter, Star Trek theme, and a Star Wars medley. We did a rock version of the Imperial March and danced while we played.

This year's theme is The Who's rock opera Tommy. It will be awesome.
